something to consider---BK has NEVER fired any assistants while at ND
It's either shit of get off the pot.

So after looking at it more and more I think we should go hard after Mike Tressel from Michigan State. Co-DC making only $400k/year. Offer $1mil/year and promotion and he'd probably take it... have him run the Dantonio/Narduzzi Cover 3 as the base defense and call it a day.
I think we should hire Dantonia and his entire staff.

I'm not sure that's all that absurd. To publicly fire someone is to admit there is something wrong with your program, and I'd say about 90% of the time that does not end well.
Wonder if BK just sticks it out for the season, hopes BVG "gets an offer" (At Kelly's urging), and if he doesn't get hired they just decide not to renew his contract?
And by not renew his contract, I mean they tear it up behind the scenes if he had any remaining years on there.

Prevent defense? How about... BLITZ IN THE FACE
Fucking love this guy!

I see BVG leaving "on his own" for a NFL LB job after the season.

Completely different competition level.
I think there is coachspeak and then there is delusion. I think he actually may be delusional.
I don't know if Kelly is that stubborn. He has to see that the defense is holding the team back.If BK is forced to fire his first assistant during his time at ND I wonder how much longer he sticks around. This is the first time he's experienced such negative backlash on the job and I could see it pissing him off and him bailing.

What are you talking about. You wither didn't read the post I quoted and responded to, or quoted the wrong post. And, frankly, I don't get the meaning of the post?
ND "changes coaches for better or worse?"
What does that mean?
At the very least, ND needs to be searching for replacements for Kelly, because he is not going to be here for another 5 years, after this year. Nobody has made it longer than 10 years at ND.
So, people need to start looking for replacements, because BK is not going to be around forever, anyway. Whether you want him fired or not, the reality is that ND will need to have their eyes open anyway.
I am sure Jack knows this. I am sure that even Kelly knows this, as well.

Really? Who would hire him?
Do we really tho, I mean because a fuckin monkey could field a better unit.Yep. I don't know what people want Kelly to be saying about BVG (unless it's "he gone," of course). Read between the lines just a little and it's quite clear. But right now you need someone to replace him and they haven't figured that out yet.
Which is a problem.something to consider---BK has NEVER fired any assistants while at ND
If BK keeps BVG on after this year, then he is delusional!
The "recruiting gap" (caused by academic restrictions, or whatever) argument is dubious. A few points about it:
(1) It can only possibly explain the losses to clearly more talented teams, such as OSU and Bama. It cannot explain any of the losses this year, nor last years' Stanford loss, nor the end of 2014 debacle.
(2) Even in the OSU and Bama cases, it cannot explain the margins of the losses.
(3) The data to prove/disprove this theory exists, but is inaccessible to the public. How many recruits are off limits to us? How much does it matter? I've fished for bits and pieces of this data, but it doesn't suggest much either way. We were able to build a top 5 class in 2013, so it must not be impossible.
(4) Shouldn't our coach be developing talent? How well did Kelly and co. do with that top 5 class?
(5) If anyone should be complaining about this, it is Mike Brey. But he doesn't. He beats better teams and doesn't blame everyone else when he loses. (He also practices in the equivalent of an elementary school gym.)
I would bet BVG lasts until the end of the year. I would also bet he's gone after that and Kelly goes somewhere outside his coaching tree for the hire, and leaves it up to them what happens with the assistants. You could make the case that every coach back there needs to be fired... you could also make the case that I'm not sure how the hell Lyght, Gilmore, etc. is exactly supposed to coach this "scheme."
I'd really like to see how those guys do with a different DC. I continue to believe that its hard for the defensive assistants to have much of an impact with how BVG runs the defensive meetings. I haven't been a fan of it since I heard of it and since then I tend to give the assistants some leeway with regards to blame or criticism.
