I was just thinking about bumping this thread yesterday. There were a couple people on r/cfb throwing out the idea that BK would be a great hire for Texas.

Now, I'm fairly certain that BK ain't leaving. But I do agree with them, especially if BK could bring his staff & Balis. Powerful O line play, suffocating physical defenses, shoot that would play well just about anywhere. I'm glad that he got his extension done, because I'd be worried that his agent would use the Michigan and Texas openings to give us a scare, just to squeeze Jack for a few more pennies.

agree but think about how much blood, sweat and tears he has put into this program to get it where it is.....he is near the pinnacle of one of the biggest mountains (winning a national championship at ND)....he would be a fool...no matter the amount of money....he has to know that would cement him as one of the all time greats at ND.....he doesn't have the time to change texas in his time frame of coaching imo

Agreed. Kelly is 59. If he retires from ND, even without a title, he does so having truly rebuilt one of the greatest CFB programs ever. That's his legacy. Leaving to roll the dice at another dysfunctional blue blood would be a huge risk at his age. I just don't think he has the appetite for it.

something i just read and couldn't believe.....in the past decade, Texas has had 1 10 win season....during this time, Northwestern has had 3, TCU has had 5 and oklahoma has had 9.....

ND has had 5, with 1 more win on saturday it will be the 6th.....tell me again why he would waste his time other than money(not towards anyone, just rhetorical

Unless Texas offers him double his ND income (income not contract due to all the other income he receives), he would have to be insane to take that job.

One of my close friends is a Texas alum and die-hard Longhorns fan. UT has a lot of the same problems we struggled with, and many more besides. When most fans talk about attractive coaching gigs, they focus on things like tradition, institutional resources, local recruiting, etc. But there are a bunch of programs with all those things in spades that are still struggling. It seems like culture, both within the program and the wider university, is a much bigger obstacle to success, and from what I've heard about Texas, that isn't going to be changed quickly regardless of who the next coach is.

I have been modeling this aspect of CFB and my back of the napkin results are this :)

I'd swap Big 12 and ACC in that model. Aside from Clemson, not a lot of shady teams in the ACC nor are they getting big money investments lol. I was surprised to read an article the other day how FSU has been stingy with money for football under Jimbo and now his successors. Miami certainly had some sketchy things going for awhile, but I think that's changed. For a long time they certainly weren't packing that stadium either, although I guess attendance has been up under Diaz and previously Richt.

I dont think the BIG is too shady either, outside of OSU. Really, its just some big programs (OSU, Clemson, OU?) and the entirety SEC outside of maybe Vandy lol.

Dude, PSU/MSU/Iowa etc aren't exactly programs of integrity as of late.

I don't know. Indiana has certainly come out of no where, probably nothing hinky though. Several years ago there was definitely something fishy going on with those recruits Zook was bringing in at Illinois, he was pulling in some serious talent for no reason. Michigan sucks, they're probably not cheating but it would be funnier if they are and still stinking up the field. tOSU will always be tOSU, they didn't come to play school. Ped State sold their soul, it's a travesty that all their punishments ended up getting reduced in the end...not to mention their wins reinstated. In what world is sexual abuse and a cover up less punishable than a few players having papers written without the coaches knowing...and then the later school then self reports it once they find out? I'm still salty, and honestly the it's a bad look on the NCAA.

That said, the rest of the B1G is probably on the up and up. Can't see Rutgers or Northwestern bending too many rules. Michigan State has been a dumpster fire the last few years, but recent controversy aside I'd like to think they're usually clean too.

IDK boys. I have so many data points I had to use a Navier Stokes tensor model just to orientate all the data. Then I used a multidimensional mutating algorithm to compile and finesse. That was the output to two sigma confidence. I think the graphics could be better but otherwise it’s rock solid.

If it's not 3 sigma you need to GTFO.

Normally shady behavior is reflected in unusual recruiting success. But that’s not to say someone just cant rejuvenate a program and have some success there drawing in recruits. But these programs have all been in the 30-60 range in class rank.

PSU is an entirely different story, with the whole pedo thing so I won’t go there. Ron Zook was a crook but his tenure ended almost a decade ago.

The most obvious shady recruiting behavior was a few years ago when Ole Miss was posting top 5-15 class and hauling in 5* prospects out of nowhere. Even Lane Kiffin isn’t recruiting like that there right now. And of course, the raise of Clemson was obnoxiously engrossed in violations too. They literally had commits tweeting stacks of cash after visits. It’s clear the NCAA is arbitrary and has an agenda. Nothing more obvious than this when USC got bent over for Reggie Bush but Auburn got a “whoopsie, sometimes parents accidentally receive tens of thousands of dollars without the player OR university knowing. Well Cam’s got a game to play so go out there an win that natty”. FUSC always, but one program lost a championship while the other was allowed to play in one with the player in question.

Let’s not forget Clemson’s PED problem right before the playoffs. Why the whole team wasn’t tested is beyond me.

Only a few demons left to exorcise from this program. Beat Clemson again, win a playoff game, and give us a puncher's chance against the fully operational death star that is Bama.
