funny thing many of the major characters in the show are played by Brazilian actors speaking Spanish.

One of my favorite examples of creatively dealing with a problem in film.

Agreed, one of my fav moments in film making... love RO.

The actress who played Tata is beautiful (very salma hayekish)... the real life Tata Escobar.... not so much.

Finished season 3 of Narcos, really liked it. To piggy back off of AC, the actress (Andrea Londo) that played Maria Salazar was very hot and sluttish, which I always enjoy.

She was. The girl this season is even hotter though.

Also if you pay attention his language changes on the word Armageddon, which is not only fitting given the subject matter but is also cool because that word is the same in both English and Russian.

Been binge-watching Mad Men. Never watched it during its TV run.

Really, what I've gotten from the first 5 seasons, is that Don Draper is kind of a piece of shit... and that's about it.

What I've gotten from seasons 6 and 7 is that there are a bunch of time-jumps happening, and that there are some forced conflicts for the main characters (the partners) that just kind of seem like shitty service as final problems/resolutions.

But I guess the point is that they had this grand idea of what they could be, but time moves on, and they were swallowed by a bigger fish, and now face the reality of no longer being in control.

I've got two episodes left, so maybe something off-the-wall happens. I could see Don going on a murder rampage, or showing up back in New York with some ground-breaking information that makes him the King of Madison. or he could just end the series sitting at a bar lighting a cigarette, idk.

If I recall correctly, he wins the Olympic decathlon, gets put on a Wheaties bix, and eventually transitions to a female.

I'm rewatching the series now and I'm curious what you see as forced conflict between the partners. You're right about Don being kind of a piece of shit; a lot of that is due to his upbringing and fear of losing everything. Still doesn't excuse the philandering

Idk, the storyline with Joan during the last few episodes after they move to the bigger company doesn't do it for me... we've been through all of this through 7 seasons, starting in the 50's, and NOW she's dealing with sexist pigs? That's the big final battle she's looking at? That's the one that really bothers me.

And Peggy getting "lost in the shuffle" just seems like a fizzle. But I guess that's kind of the idea.

Oh yeah the Joan thing, that did irk me a bit when I watched the first time. The way it was explained to me is Joan is finally coming to terms with what she wants, not a lady of leisure or a housewife (as she's tried to do both), but wants to actually work; she now sees that her ability to do so has changed at the new place and it's causing a lot of strife. I guess Sterling Cooper was a bit toned down compared to the others.

The show was amazing, but the last season or so was not great. Enjoyed the early seasons a ton.

Gomorrah is pretty good. It's about the Mafia and takes place mostly in Naples Italy.

So did Don find inner peace and then go write the most successful ad in history for Coke?

Or are we just left with a vision of a happy advertisement, showing us that this was simply about the world continuing to move around their work?

Oh hell yes it's good. Though it's a movie, not a show. For my money it's the best mob movie of the 2000s.

I have two more episodes to watch for season 2. Didn't know it was a movie. I agree it's one of the best one's I have watched.

anyone here ever seen "the Trip"

its a British mock-travel show about Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon travelling around Yorkshire in northern England sampling fine dining restuarants. It sounds daft but it's pretty funny.

There's a sequel set in italy thats really good too but its not on US netflix.

Yes, Coke was Don.

I saw The Trip and really enjoyed it, much more than The Trip to Italy, though that was fine too. I could've sworn the sequel was on Netflix just two weeks ago. They also released a third, The Trip to Spain very recently

just checked and you are right the Trip to Italy is up there now. They actually did these series as a TV show on the BBC but having it in movie format works too i think.

That description reminds me of "An Idiot Abroad," which is fantastic.

its much more subtle than AIA i think. Gervais' humor is very broad these days. It's clear he makes shows/tv for wider not just British audiences.

Neither. Don made the Coke ad, but not because he found inner peace. He's an eternal cynic. The yoga trip was essentially market research. He doesn't buy any of that hippie BS.

I just watched a full season of The Good Place and it's by far the best sitcom on TV right now.
