How sure are we that most of these aren't the same couple posters?

They never seem to post simultaneously, all have similar patterns, and we know circumventing the ban isn't difficult and often tolerated.

If I had proof that someone was circumventing a ban other than a suspicion, they wouldn't last long. (Though the other admins might veto my decision.)

Unfortunately there are ways to cover your tracks from our limited tools, and I'm on the belief that we shouldn't ban people just because we dislike them or we are suspicious that they are someone else.

I’ll add to what Beau said… we have our suspicions, and can connect the dots on a lot of things just like the rest of you, but if people are smart, they can cover their tracks and there’s not much we can do without hard evidence.

All we can do is continue to check and see if they’ve continued to cover their tracks. If they slip up and we see a connection to previously-banned/other usernames, then we take action. But continuing to look for connections between multiple user profiles isn’t a top priority unless a poster’s behavior calls for it for blatant violations of our guidelines.

I find it comical that Toronto gave 08 an out towards the end of the year and said if you concede the Burress bet right now, the ban would be dropped to a month.

It seems like 08 thought that taking a 2 month ban wouldn't be real rough because there's not a lot going on.

Then the 2026 portal hits and the board blew up. Add on top of that the DT portion of the portal. Has to be killing the poor guy. LMAO

My impatience was trumped only by his stupidity. I can't imagine how horrible the board would read if each waking moment was spammed with "DT form WSUST enterred the portal, 3 years remaining, did not see field, maybe option?".

I still say every board needs their villain to keep things interesting.
That's contingent on them following the rules of course, and don't make silly bets involving self bans.

While it's nice to have a place to come and get away from the drama of real life, a sanitized board with all like minded individuals leads to dead traffic and boring discussions. I've been on boards for other teams that push out opposing fans as well as posters that offer a lot of dissenting opinions. They turn into ghost towns, the conversation dies.

You can't break the rules, and you don't want completely insufferable posters that will drive others away, but you need a koon or two that can follow the rules and play devil's advocate.
