The ignore function is a brilliant feature, and I have always held the opinion that it should be used more widely on the site when certain issues come up again and again.

The problem arises when it goes beyond telling someone "put me on ignore," and it becomes an obvious far-reaching troll job, which is what Pat transformed into. He never answered debates head-on, danced around the ACTUAL issues being discussed in nearly every argument he had, got overly defensive at almost all times, was overly combative at almost all times when he wasn't "defending" his stance, and he started sh*tstorms for the sake of watching sh*tstorms. He would pick one side of the fence early on in a debate for no other reason than to have a "platform" to stand on later.

Ignore doesn't help when the entire site is affected. Or when all the mods would have to follow the "ignore" advice. That's just not possible.

Fair enough, I understand your points . He made me LOL so I'll always support him coming back. Forever is a long time and I'm sure him and many other posters could learn their lesson with an entire season off (or more). If not, you click the button and they're gone.

Are you high? Saying that he was racist is being kind. He's been accused of far worse. Do you actually remember him or just the version you made him out to be? I feel like you are only remembering the occasional funny version of Pat and not the mainstay ahole rubbing everyone the wrong way in every Lep Lounge thread.

I know they would, but a lot of people obviously loved Pat too. Pat was a smart, but had very strong opinions and some people didn't like his approach. I get that, but IMO, you just have to not take it personal (Pat and I's last discussion on here was an argument where I told him he was crazy - he said we shouldn't waste time recruiting guys like Alexander McKenzie.).

Not all on IE are equal. There are certain people on IE that you can and cannot go after (For instance, I'm fair game for insults, but OMM? GTFO). Pat didn't discriminate, he went after whoever he disagreed with, didn't care if they were a mod, a newb, had a billion vbucks or were looking for handouts. Part of the reason he was popular, but also got him in trouble.

The end result is the same, an unenjoyable experience because of one person's behavior. Unenjoyable for YOU. Not for everyone, certainly not for me and others. We enjoyed him as a member. There are posters I do not enjoy. Posters that are offensive and only come on here to bully other members. I don't call for their head because I know they're idiots and so why would they bother me?

There's many more than 2 pages. Pat's banning caused more of an uproar than any poster ever, Bambi included.

One poster went as far as to create an awesome banner that was passed out and used as people's signature. It had Pat (Charlie Day) in a blue tuxedo holding a Lacrosse stick (IrishLax banned him) that was on fire with burning buildings in the background. It was EPIC.

Fact is, it's hard to block every bad poster, because bad posters also tend to post a lot. Driving the conversations in whatever manner they deem. So posters tell them that, they report them, they get them banned. It's a system that works, and just because it doesn't work for you, doesn't change the fact that it does work for the majority.

I was not a mod at the time but I totally get why Pat was booted. I agreed with him on some things and absolutely was revulsed by other things he posted. He was bilgerent and was tough to handle most times though and caused a lot of work for the mods. the running joke on the board is that if Pat got into thread it would devolve very quickly. I unsubscribed to numerous threads after he got going. It was hard to sift through 25 posts of single sentence exclamations in order to catch up on the On- Topic discussion.

Did you not read Beau's post? Many of the people that were upset at Bambi's ban aren't here anymore, and a ton of people on the board now, weren't here when that happened. What would a poll prove now?

Perhaps you missed the part where most of the posters who complained about the banning of neutered are no longer on the site? So yeah, a poll of current members would really be a scientifically sound way of going about it. Bambi's banning was a MUCH bigger deal, and it wasn't even close.

You cannot debate that, so whether you have them as 1/2, back to the OP, Pat 100% should be in the banned HOF, unless there's only one poster there and that poster is Bambi (which I'd argue, but agree to disagree).
