Not trying to stir up more about Tuitt's weight, just passing on something I've come across.

According to und.com,

Tuitt pre-camp weight: 322
Tuitt post camp weight: 312

They only changed Tuitt's and Nix's weight (357 to 342)

I have to say something on this because I was definitely worried. The guys at II have covered ND fall camp for a very long time and they all said that when camp started Tuitt didn't look good and definitely wasn't playing at the same level he was last year. Could that have changed, of course, but to act like it wasn't something of importance is crazy.

That sounds like he's happy

Seems like there's a lot of finger pointing after that loss, and most of it towards the Dline.

Tuitt always tweets such kinds of things. Let's not look into this too much, boys.

His incredibly weird pick 6 Saturday night was awesome. The D-LINE was not even close to my biggest problem with that game

The Dline played pretty well Saturday. Lost contain a few times, but no Dline would have been perfect every play.

"Poor play" is bad wording IMO. Certainly not having the same season as 2012, but he certainly hasn't been playing "poorly"

"Completely average" play? Take away the #7 on his jersey, and we would hardly notice this guy.

He's been very solid against the run and nonexistent in the pass rush game. He's looked like a 3rd-4th rounder honestly.

I've seen him get some pressure, it just hasn't resulted in sacks. They have resulted in rushed/bad throws, something that doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

But I agree, "average" seems about right. Clowney seems pretty average too.

Also, anyone else notice Grace had 10 tackles last night?

He's completely out of position as a 4-3 end/7 tech. Just like JJ Watt in college, its difficult to get consistent pressure from that position without speed. With Tuitt's weight being up from last year he just shouldn't be outside.

I did notice that but IMO it's misleading, where is he getting those tackles. I thought he played slow, was behind on his reads and decision making but yes he still got the tackles. Not a popular opinion but I still think Tuitt's weight is an issue. He is getting pressure because he's strong as F¥€k but he's not getting sacks because he has lost a step of his speed and IMO it's not a good trade off.

I have to agree, on both counts. Grace was behind the play a couple times last night, and Tuitt has been a step late at times too.

Pardon me for injecting, but with Te'o gone, who obviously had is own approach, these kids are doing no more than following the direction they are given.

I am tired of hearing about the speed of the game, about reads. Rick Minter was run out of town on a rail for having a defense that was so complicated that all of the kids were spending too much time thinking instead of playing . . .

What drugs are you on to think that you'd hardly notice the absence of a guy whom you then said would be a 3rd4th rounder in the NFL Draft?

I posted something in another thread meaning this. On O and D tho. Let the players play.
