It's too bad that you can only go 20 pages back in pat's posts, and you miss out on his splendid commentary in the Trayvon Martin thread. Yeeesh!

I agreed with Pat on virtually nothing. To me he was the right wing nutjob and to him I was the old hippy liberal, but we had some epic discussions (never agreed on shit) and we both would get a kick out of the fact that we were soooo far apart on everything. I have received more reps from Pat than I have from virtually any other poster since I've been at IE. He was a funny dude, that was not afraid of stepping up to the line. Sadly, he was sometimes too drunk to determine where the line was and stepped right over it. Too bad. I do miss Pat.

Is that true, or are you confusing him with IrishLax? I have no idea if it is or not, but you might have it backwards. IrishLax is the one that was excited because of how versatile Yeargin was when he committed, then when he decommitted said something along the lines of it's not a big deal cause he wasn't a need.

I will look at the thread later.

Selective memory is fun, isn't it? The Yeargin saga is basically what put the nail in Pat's coffin in terms of being an obvious troll.

Didn't someone compare him to Mario Williams?

Yup, Pat compared Yeargin to Mario-freaking-Williams.

The saga started with trying to hearken back to a post I made when he committed where I said something like "wow, sick pull" because it was crazy Alford was able to get him in the fold relatively out of the blue, and then I commented on his versatility.

I was incredibly fair and consistent throughout, but then Pat... who hated on EVERY SINGLE RECRUIT WE HAD... comes in the moment Yeargin starts looking around and starts touting him as a game-changing #1 style player and says he's like Mario Williams. The comparison was so laughable on so many levels... first, Yeargin was built NOTHING like Williams, second his film was NOTHING like Williams... yet Pat comes in immediately after he takes a Clemson visit (after not commenting on him AT ALL before that point) and talks about how he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

It was such obvious trolling and he couldn't defend his position at all, so then him (and Koon) tried to come after me. Specifically, they went after the post where I said it was a "sick pull" and then also tried to back up the position that Yeargin = Mario Williams.

I never thought Pat was a "troll" until that point, but that series of posts cemented it. There is no other explanation for someone who literally hated on EVERY SINGLE OTHER RECRUIT saying they were no good, and then rides into a thread of a borderline 90 rating type of guy after he visits another school and declares him comparable to a #1 overall pick. Koon's support of him is when I learned he was a sheep... and my opinion had been steadily improving since then... but I guess he's still, at heart, a big cuddly sheep.

What did I say that was innaccurate? That was the thread and scenario that was brought up by Whiskeyjack. I responded.

Can you point out where "I came after you"?

I'm a sheep because I like IrishPat and thought he was hilarious? Well I'm a sheep then, lol.

Tbh im still getting a kick out of these post when you guys are quoting them. To me the Mario Williams comparison seems more like a joke on the people that thought Yeargin was amazing than a troll job.

Either way, if that warrants a lifetime ban, I better watchout with my film evals, lol.

I just want to say it seemed like you started liking Pat because everyone hated on him, and you tend to do that often. You try to buddy up with posters that aren't particularly well liked.

I don't 'buddy up' with them.

For instance, Pat, yes, I genuinely liked him. NDSean, I stand up for him because I cannot stand internet tough guys picking on someone over and over. But Sean and I are not buddies like Pat and I were.

If standing up for members who are not well liked and borderline harassed on here, charge me up.

Have you not been paying attention?

Getting a lifetime ban comes from a culmination of things, as has been stated all along. Pat didn't get a lifetime sentence for a single, isolated, terrible player comparison. The Yeargin comparison was just the "big reveal" to the rest of the world, about something the mods (like Whiskey) had long suspected.

What?

I didn't know of your status with Sean so apologies for using the incorrect term. I'm not saying it's a bad thing to stand up for less liked posters except in the case of Pat where it seems like because you two were friends you are to this day defending him despite his permanent ban.

Yes I have and yes I understand. It was a joke.

Note to everyone - when you read my posts, try not to take them in the worst possible way.

Sorry, I couldn't tell it was a joke because your film evals really are reprehensible.

I don't recall reading anything along those lines. Yeargin--a 'tweener DE/OLB--was just barely rated as a 4:s:, and didn't have any particularly redeeming qualities other than his versatility. No one here was very excited about him, and he was frequently brought up as a high risk to decommit.

And then Pat, who famously hated all of our recruits, even the legitimate stars, compares Yeargin to Mario Willams. He wasn't spoofing anyone, because Yeargin simply wasn't an exciting recruit. In light of his modus operandi re ND recruits and his growing notoriety as IE's resident shock jock (which he embraced whole-heartedly), he was clearly just trying to stir the pot.

As has been mentioned before, cleaning up after Pat required a lot of work by the mods. We were willing to overlook many of his faults when he seemed to come by them honestly. But as soon as it became clear that he was purposefully trolling the board, I'd had enough. The dude had zero respect for all the work he was foisting on us.

Am I the only one that doesn't remember Koon even being friends with Pat? Seems like this love affair may only have had one participant.

I thought they hated each other? Didn't we all hate Koon? Then Pat got banned and then me and Koon went on a FreePat campaign that didn't work.

Oh Koon... you fluffy, woolen sheep...

Are you going to deny that you sent messages and reps to Pat that included, among other things, what you termed "ammunition" to use in the Mario Williams debate?

So, you mean trolling? Because then he went and vigorously defended that indefensible position to try to tick more people off.

Not at all.

I was coming off of my first ever ban, from you, for being 'racist' after:

1) Being a member for over a year and obviously never having a hint of racism in ANY post,
2) Without a chance to explain myself or add the italics that I intended to while I was walking in through the door after class... No message asking me what I was thinking or if I could clarify/delete... just an automatic ban.

So yes, I pegged you as an over zealous mod with a quick trigger and that I was on your hit list.

Without knowing you could (or would) look up what people were saying in reps, when Pat was arguing with you and I was afraid to step in, I said 'Pat, look at page XXX. It is ammunition for your argument', which was that you were excited that he committed, then didn't think he was a huge loss when he decommitted (an argument I understand, btw).

I didn't want to be banned and was afraid to publicly post 'Hey Pat, the substance of your argument is on page XXX'.

How is that not understandable? I'm not a sheep in any sense. I just figured you'd take another chance to ban me if I stepped in. That is completely legitimate.

After all, does anyone REALLY think I'm afraid to speak my mind?

All of my laundry is out. Anyone else?

You were temp-banned for a short period of time for a legitimately racist post. I received numerous complaints on it. Not my fault you forgot italics and/or chose to joke about race poorly.

Yes, I'm soooooo over-zealous... my only perma-bans ever are Pat and that Michigan troll guy.

OK so basically I just said you were supporting Pat in his trolling, then you denied it, then I pointed out how you supported him, and now you're admitting you were back channeling with him. At least we're all on the same page now...

Pat made a funny joke. Some people didn't get it and came at him because they actually believed (some still do) that he was dumb enough to compare one of the biggest athletic freaks of our generation to Yeargan. Does Pat really seem like the guy to say "Sorry i was jk"? no Pat predictably fought back.

Trolling would have been comparing Yeargan to Williams just to piss people off, that IMO wasn't his goal.

I (or any member) that has 1) long tenure and 2) zero history of said-behavior at least deserves the courtesy of 'Hey dude, not cool. Explain yourself, you could get banned for that'... before an automatic ban (first permanent, then reduced, btw).

Especially when the ill-advised joke was not complete hatred. FYI - the poor joke that meant to have italics was 'he's black and from Texas, sign him up!'. Yes, stupid comment, I know.

Looking at my scenario, I do think that and any reasonable person can understand why.

I supported his argument, in that you were excited at first, then didn't care as much when he decommitted. I simply (and privately) pointed to the post where you said that. If that's trolling (again, privately), so be it... And if not...

That is trolling. SMH.

You actually believe that his "funny joke"... which was the frankly stated post Koon quoted on the previous page about Yeargin being a big loss while chastising other members of the board... was such that when called out on it, he warped from a position of joking to be funny, to a position of outright trying to vehemently defend a position that he doesn't actually believe as if it was a seriously held belief. And this serious of actions doesn't make him a troll.

Hate to break it to you, but arguing a point of view you don't actually believe as if you did believe it is literally the text book definition of internet trolling.
