I find this thread strangely entertaining. You know you are not going to get any information about Notre Dame football when you read it. But, you are going to get some very interesting arguments and debate about what is going on. I enjoy reading this thread and I think it is a good idea to make it a separate thread. If you are only interested in information about Notre Dame football you simply skip this thread.

Yeah. I spent 16-ish hours yesterday troubleshooting a bad circuit board that the manufacturer sent me. I even exhausted Tech Support's flow charts. I didn't realize until after I posted, that some of the posts were moved from another thread. Mea culpa!

Beau... I agree that Jughed deserved a vacation, but I hope a different mod banned him. You shouldn't take part in debates that lead to punishment. You cant be the police and the protestor.

Jughed Jones has been permanently banned. The mods voted and it was unanimous.
Reasons (and let this be a warning to anyone who engages in a similar posting style or has a similar posting history):
1) He has been banned temporarily at least twice before for similar reasons.
2) Multiple reported posts by users and warnings from the mods both publicly and privately to desist with his behavior.
3) Inability to debate anything in the sphere of politics or the Leprechaun Lounge in general without name-calling, inflammatory posting, and other personal insults.
In general, JJ loved disagreeing with others without offering substantive remarks to support his positions. Instead of engaging in intellectually honest debate, he just called everyone who disagreed with him ignorant (or worse). This is not what this board is about. He was asked to avoid those types of threads and he chose not to do so.
This goes without saying but his ban has nothing to do with his underlying beliefs, but rather the manner in which he expressed those beliefs.

I pulled the trigger. Beau, one of our most irenic moderators, took the time to engage Jug in the hopes of helping him avoid another ban. Jug responded by openly taunting him. That was the final straw for me.
The mods had already discussed it, and it was time for a perma-ban. We've given him miles of rope, and yet he cannot help but keep hanging himself. The political threads are too tempting for him, and he is obviously incapable of engaging in such discussions without personally attacking those who disagree with him.
I hope he reconsiders the wisdom of his "point and laugh" philosophy. It certainly didn't win him any converts (or friends) here at IE.

It was a group decision, and I was not the first to bring it up.
As well, in my posts towards him, I was not protesting his viewpoints, and only telling him that his posting was inappropriate.
Also going to move these posts to the Banned Users thread.

Thanks fellas. I appreciate you being transparent with your process. You guys also gave Jughed a ton of rope and he simply couldn't help but to hang himself with it. Hell... I even warned him earlier today. Ha

No problem man. I know it is. You have been very vocal on the topic. haha It is part of why we typically make decisions like that as a group. Sometimes slows down the process a bit, but it leads to less turmoil afterwards.

Ha! I was in the process of replying to Wooly in the PC thread and then when I was done and hit post, it showed in in the banned users thread...you Quick Draw McGraw'ed me!
Kudos to the mods, Beau, Whiskey, GK, Lion, Cack, Lax and anyone that I missed ... for moderation, due diligence, and a great deal of patience.
JJ had the same issues in years past (and moderators past). The dialog among mods isn't new in how to deal with a problem nor with Jughead. It seems to me like JJ went to the showers about a dozen times over the years usually voluntarily but sometimes with a mods help. I don't recall anytime when one or more mods spoke with him via PM to ease up on the passion/anger and the ad hominems. This isn't a Rivals site.

I don't think that should factor in. I'm banned by 1/4 of this site most likely, and am a top 5 poster all-time.
