Mahone had been getting majority of his reps in slot. Could that be the wr confusion?

We're looking at one of Mahone/Carlisle being RB3 next year unless ND gets two RBs in this class for sure, and one is ready to see snaps ASAP.

Losing any RB will be a detriment to the team in some way, shape or form, so I've gotta take an issue with the "I hope it's Mahone" stance.

Sure, it's horrible and a detriment to the team. That being said and knowing it's a RB, would you rather it be Mahone or Folston/Bryant?

I would rather it to be no one, and I think hoping it's a certain player is in poor taste in general. I just feel uncomfortable rooting for any particular outcome in a bad situation like this, at least until we hear exactly what happened.

I do understand the sentiment, and I'm not trying to call anyone thinking along those lines a shitty person. I'd rather it all play out before commentary gets too harsh, is all.

Totally understand where you're going with this and I think you are correct, BUT, let's say Folston/GB are someone's favorite player on the team. I think you can hope it's not one of them and not be judged for it. IMO

I gotta disagree about wishing it's Mahone or whoever else. This is type of kid you see cut in sec. So while we don't play that Tom Foolery, I have no sympathy towards a kid who can't take advantage of his full four years because he can't stay out of trouble.

I have no info on this, I just didnt think Mahone would be the type to get kicked out

Alcohol can make you do some crazy shit and make some really bad decisions. Sucks for this kid if true and I hope he at least gets a chance to be readmitted and graduate with a degree from ND.

If it is indeed Mahone, I think he was poised to make some impact for us.

I see every scholly as critical. Every player as integral.

Completely disagree with the one strike your out sentiment you seem to be expressing.

It's embarrassing that we like to think that we're "better" than other schools and care more about our players, yet some of us are hoping that it's a "lesser" player that's getting kicked out. You can't have it both ways.

I hope whomever it is, they can address the issue and get back into school and the program and complete what they started. I wish no ill will towards any young man that has donned a beloved golden helmet. Get it together son.

It's not good for any player to get kicked off the team. If it is a starter or just a depth player. It doesn't look good. Hope it works it's self out in the long run.

Does Mahone have some history of trouble the rest of us don't know about? Because this sounds like a one-time offense and he's always come off as a solid citizen. Whatever it was, it must have been pretty bad to warrant immediate suspension/expulsion (after all, Jimmy Clausen was reportedly in a bar fight, and Tommy Rees was arrested for assaulting a police officer, among many other examples). But at this point all we know is "bar fight," maybe with a teammate. Might wait for a little more info before I throw a kid under the bus.

Mahone has had a tough time with injuries and a competitive time regarding the depth chart (the two being interrelated). I hope that when all is said and done (IF it is in fact involving him), that he is offered another chance (depending on severity) to right his ship. I remember when he committed to ND, and the kid definitely has talent. I want to see all these guys succeed, and people make mistakes. Hopefully, it's something that can be owned up to while earning back the privilege of the Blue and Gold.

I was not trying to express a one strike you are out policy. I am just trying to say if the staff/ath. Rep./university deem it expulsion worthy then I'm not going worry about the kid.

How have I thrown anyone under the bus? I know nothing about the situation. Just trying to state the above. If that's encrimnating someone or "throwing then under the bus" then I'm sorry to whoever was kicked off team.

Yep. I have been waiting for him to get his injuries behind him and have a breakout season. He really seems like a good kid from the outside. I really hope he has the opportunity to right this with the team/university.

Are you kidding me? It's the Barnet thread without question.

Yeah, of course your right. But when I jumped in that thread, the info was he was basically gone, there were articles and some info.
This thread just drops your heart from the first post and no clarification whatsoever.

I'm still skeptical on this whole thing until I see sources and facts. :) Call me stupid.

I highly doubt ANYONE is HOPING that Mahone gets kicked off. Thats ridiculous.
But if you are going to honestly say that you would feel exactly the same if Bryant is kicked off as to Mahone, you're a liar. Come off your high horse and understand what their saying.
I hate it when self righteous people deliberately misunderstand and exaggerate just to feel superior. Give me a break.
Anyone, in any sport, anywhere would prefer to lose Mr Average-to-good player than say Lionel Messi.

You certainly can have it both ways. I feel the same way about an injury. I don't wish anyone to get injured, but I'd much rather Bruce Heggie get injured than Zach Martin.

If ND is "better" than other schools, its because it tries to enable them to take their education seriously and play football at the same time. I don't think you prove how much you care about a kid by pretending they are all equally valuable to the team's success. They aren't.

If a kid deserves to gets kicked out of school for doing something bad--if it is his fault and not the coach trying to make roster space--why would I not be relieved that he was not a key contributor? If its Malone, I feel bad for the kid, but his loss is not going to make a major impact on next season. Losing Golson was a much bigger blow than losing, say, Hendrix. Losing Bryant or Folston would have seriously sucked.

Its funny how the internet turns what happened into something completely different than the actual story. I am extremely disappointed in some of the posts I have read in this thread. Its very disheartening to see fans wish and hope its a certain player.

In todays world, it has changed to a "now" culture and things are said without ever checking them, and they get turned into something that isnt accurate.

This situation has legs and when the time is right, it will be addressed, and my guess is there will be a deduction from the Notre Dame Football team. And the story on this board is further from the truth. But to say your relieved or hope its this player over another is beyond comprehension.

Reps, ITP!
