Comparing the 2017 game to this game is idiotic at best. If BK was still coaching, then the guy has a point. We know he's not and we see what Mr. Freeman can do to get a team ready. A&M last year is a perfect example as many have mentioned.

Did people forget that Beck turned into a headcase and turnover machine in 2024? ANNNNDDDDD he is going to throwing against a top 5 secondary.
This watch most of his highlights a lot of his INT were with a clean pocket throwing into a guy whose covered by multiple guys. I really hope we dial up some crazy blitz packages and don't get conservative. Ash needs to let Young and Boubacar loose

As opposed to what? Controlled bull rushes to keep an immobile QB in the pocket? If it's a pass, I'm pretty sure that Ash will let those two loose.

Have to force them into obvious passing downs, if they dont it'll be a battle. If they do force them to throw, it'll be over in the third. Miami doesnt have the depth or the dudes on the perimeter to scare me in game 1.

36 - Oben, 29 - JR
38 - Burnham, 21 - Young

Snap counts versus OSU.

Kinda crazy, 83% of DE snaps were taken by 2 backups on the current depth chart and a UDFA. I think the single biggest underrated nationally storyline is what if Bryce Young and Traore just wreck shit in a way we didn’t get to see in the CFP? Nobody outside of ND circles is talking about ND as having high upside pass rush potential

Cane fan coming in here in as much.. peace as I possibly can ( dodges beer bottle tossed at the head )

I don't understand why you lot are calling miami delusional when posting something like this. The most important position on your team hasn't thrown a single pass... and we're gonna get stomped? I hope cristobal isn't THAT bad, sheesh

anyway, Good luck to you guys, part of me wishes you had taken down ohio state because them and bama are the worst cheats in this sport. Them along with georgia ruined the sport and caused the NIL to come alive. Now it's a shit show of who can pay the most money rather than recruiting and development.

My thoughts:

I know we don't play the greatest regular season schedule but man oh man looking at your 2024 schedule: florida state, stanford and purdue are the worst teams in the sport right now. They're just embarrassing and seeing stanford lose to hawaii like they just did, double yikes. Then you also had army and navy on your schedule. Best win was clearly the aggies with a brand new head coach in his first game. Other than that you won by a TD vs a 4 loss louisville team, and the 3rd best win i guess would be a 6 loss usc team.

You guys seem to have a ton of confidence in this run game that mustered 53 yards in the championship. Love had 46 yards vs penn state, and is not even in the stat sheet for the playoffs. Miami fans are saying this guy is the truth, that doesn't look like a whole lot of truth. Was he fighting injuries? Vs fsu he average 3 yards a carry, same vs louisville. I was expecting to be blown away by this guy the way miami fans talk about him, looks like a non-factor.

The crap of some of you talk about beck is pretty irrational, and that's coming from someone that didn't like us getting him. Georgia led the country in drops while having a rushing game that ranked 105th in the nation. I'm not sure what you expect someone to do in that situation?

Anyway as for miami:

Lance guidry should never coach at a high level of football ever again, that is the worst defensive coordinator I've ever seen. The defense will be better because that's simply the only direction it can go. Cam ward basically walked onto the field every time knowing if he didn't score a touchdown we would lose. Our offensive coordinator dawson is starting to really show his worth considering every single WR that ward threw to has been cut from nfl rosters. Number 1 offense in football with zero NFL WR's on it, that's earning your money right there. All of that is a mute point as of today, the entire secondary is 4 stars and up and is basically a new roster.

There's not a doubt in my mind who has the better head coach, and it's not cristobal. Never wanted him, still don't as he's done nothing at this level to earn 10 million a year for 8 years. His time at oregon gave him unlimited money in a terrible conference. He's been exposed for not being what his reputation is, saban's own words once said he's the greatest recruiter in the country. Well how hard is it to recruit during prime bama years and unlimited nike money? Now he's got a top 5 NIL money down at miami and he's in his 3 year coming off 3 losses with rather un-spectacular recruiting classes. Ward didn't play the 2nd half of the bowl game, so to be fair it would have been 2 losses but it's still not acceptable.

This is his THIRD defensive coordinator already, he simply doesn't have it unfortunately.

I guess a lot of you weren't down there in 2017 for that game, that stadium is the most hostile in the country for big games. The previous game to that was vs va tech and it was nearly as loud for that game. This is going to be the real factor just like it was in 2017, because we probably lose that game on a neutral field and instead it's 34-0 in the 3rd quarter.

The poster on the front page that said you're walking into a hornets nest is right, this isn't gonna be any different atmosphere wise than 2017. Some tickets are going for $10k, I just don't see a qb with no experience going into this and coming out with a win. If you're going to this game I highly advise you to bring serious ear protection. During warm ups in 2017 you already couldn't hear the person next to you.

OSU is undergoing a huge rebuild. Tons of talent but light on experience. I’ll finally give coaching props to Day if he can beat Texas.

I thought my wife was a talker.... geez.

Miami isn't a tough place to play, especially when your QB throws two INTs in the first quarter and you're down 14-0 before you get your popcorn. You're going to be able to hear the fat lady sitting two seats down from you fart by midway through the second quarter. Down by 17 at the half, most of the Miami "fans" will figure out there's much better entertainment and jet to the gate. The only thing left is the margin of victory for the Irish. Beck throws a late td when it doesn't matter and Miami is who everyone thought they were... just not a good football team yet again.

I have a buddy who is a Miami fan and he thinks our secondary is overrated because they didn’t play many prolific passing offenses last year.

Your buddy is uninformed. USC, Ohio State, Georgia, Louisville, and Indiana all had QBs that were in the top 25 for passing yards. From a team stats perspective they were all in the top 1/4 in passing yards per game last season (Of course Beck was out, but his receivers were there). Drew Aller was actually 17th in total passing yards, but Penn State was 59th in average passing yards per game (I assume Drew stinking it up with his receivers late hurt the team's average, but increased his totals still).

Ignorant.

Oh boy, here we go...

Because for one, the people on Miami's end saying this kind of stuff isn't just exclusive to randos on message boards. I've seen multiple podcasters and people on the beat saying that ND is going to get whacked. Not to mention, pretty much everything I've been able to find from the Miami side on their outlook is some of the biggest sunshine pump jobs I've witnessed going into the season.
I know we don't play the greatest regular season schedule but man oh man looking at your 2024 schedule: florida state, stanford and purdue are the worst teams in the sport right now. Gonna just ignore the postseason when ND went through 3 consecutive top 10 teams, winning 2 by double digits, while Miami was losing in the Pop-Tart Bowl, I see.

I mean, let's be real. ND's regular season schedule wasn't anything to write home about. But let's be real here, a Miami fan is in NO position to be talking.

Miami's best win last year was also Louisville, by a touchdown. And before you say anything, no, I will not count Florida as a quality win. Florida was turbo ass to start the year. Even then, that team finished 8-5. The Canes needed the help of refball to bail them out of losing to 6-7 Virginia Tech and 6-7 California.

Ohio State and Penn State had 2 of the best defensive fronts in CFB last year. Both teams were top 4 in defensive FEI. Miami sat at 67th.

Miami has Reuben Bain, who is a dude. Ohio State had Jack Sawyer, JT Tuimoloau, Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton. That's 4 guys who are now playing pro ball, who had their name called on draft day. They were also backed up by 2 All-Big Ten LBs in Cody Simon and Sonny Styles.

Penn State had Abdul Carter, arguably the most dominant pass rusher in CFB last year and the third overall pick in this year's draft. Along with Dani Dennis-Sutton and Zane Durant.

Those defenses were STACKED.

Not to mention, Love was hurt pretty much the entire CFP. So his impact was limited. Not to mention, yeah, ND didn't run the ball a lot vs. Ohio State, because they played from behind pretty much the whole time after the first grind it out drive.

The crap of some of you talk about beck is pretty irrational, and that's coming from someone that didn't like us getting him. Georgia led the country in drops while having a rushing game that ranked 105th in the nation. I'm not sure what you expect someone to do in that situation?
Beck's issues had NOTHING to do with the damn drops. This is the type of crap that ND fans on here are talking about when it comes to the delusion.

Beck's issues stemmed from pressure. He was among the worst QB's when under pressure. You go back and look at every turnover he caused, he was 100% responsible for every single one of them. Because when Beck gets pressured, he shot puts the ball into double or trip coverage, where his receivers didn't even have a chance to drop it. Literally every single pick he threw is the same horrid pass, horrid decision, giving his receivers zero chance to fight for it.

Clearly you've never met Brian VanGorder.

You are seriously underrating the impact that Ward had. He made something out of nothing constantly. And going back to Beck, these two could not be any more different when it comes to pressure. A LOT of Ward's best plays last year were made out of the pocket and under duress. Dude was excellent at improvising and making plays under pressure. Something Beck is absolutely NOT good at.

Being cut from an NFL roster also doesn't equate to them being bad college players. Restrepo was going to have a difficult time find a place in the NFL, because despite being an excellent and reliable receiver in college, he simply lacked the physical tools. Dude is 5'10 and ran a 4.8 at his Pro Day. That didn't change the fact that Restrepo was an excellent receiver. His game simply didn't translate to the league, where everybody is bigger, faster and more disciplined. Keep in mind, dude was an All American and even had 1000 yard season before Ward ever set foot on campus.

Ward didn't play the 2nd half of the bowl game, so to be fair it would have been 2 losses but it's still not acceptable.
To be fair, Miami shouldn't have won the VT or Cal games, so I'd say it evens out.

Using 2017 as a measure is completely irrelevant, because that was an entirely different team and especially coach.

For all the good Kelly did at ND, he was absolutely dogshit in big road games. Nearly every single big road game, Kelly would collapse. Michigan 2011, USC 2014, Clemson and Stanford 2015, Texas 2016, Miami and Stanford 2017, Michigan and Georgia 2019. The only real exception to this rule was Oklahoma in 2012. Kelly's road game track record was abysmal.

Key factor for that game wasn't just that Kelly pissed down his leg. It was that the book had been written on ND's offense. Brandon Wimbush couldn't complete a forward pass to save his life. They relied heavily on the run game and if that wasn't working, ND was sunk. The defense also began to fall apart, as the poor depth and inconsistent play at LB and safety started to do them in. Keep in mind, ND had given up nearly 600 yards of offense the week prior to Miami against Wake. They also nearly lost the following week to a bad Navy squad at home and then got blown out by Stanford on the road.

So far, Freeman has shown he is anything BUT dogshit in big road environments, especially for how his team handled a loud and hostile crowd in College Station last year.

Again, I heard much of the same going into the game at A&M. This coach and this team isn't walking into something brand spanking new. They've been in big games before, several times even.

And let's be real here, ND's dogshit play in 2017 contributed heavily to the crowd's hostility. They gave the Miami fans zero reason to let up, because of course BGB strikes again.

While I'm not sure ND will dog walk Miami, and Carr in his first start on the road is definitely something to monitor, this is still MUCH of the same team that made it to the national championship game last year. Carr may be an unknown for how he will handle his first start, but Beck is just as much a question mark. First time seeing live ball in almost a year after a major injury, missed all of spring ball, brand new offense with brand new personnel, and as we've mentioned before, Beck has not handled pressure well at all in his career. Maybe that all changes, but I'm not banking on it happening against what should be one of the best defenses in college football.

Josh Pate puts out a 10 min segment where he spends the first 8 minutes talking about ND's strengths and then the last 2 where he gives one edge to Miami....one...and says that's the difference and picks The U to win. I honestly used to like this guy. The easiest take on this game is the following: This is potentially a strength-vs-strength matchup on both sides of the ball. Those games always come down to 1) turnovers 2) special teams 3) culture. I can see Miami winning this game if ND turns the ball over more than them or if ND's ST play terribly. But as far as culture, Miami aint there yet. Call it a pick em. Say Miami can win. That's fine. But good grief, don't spend an entire segment talking about how good ND is and then say Miami wins because of some hot take. ND is a proven team, with loads of talent and one of the best staffs in the country. What has Miami done recently? Fuck your "model." See you Sunday. Go Irish.
An ND fan in the Cover 3 chat today asked them live what positions Miami had an advantage at and they unanimously agreed on QB, but then went back and forth and said maybe interior DL. That’s it. Two positions and none of them realized what that exercise revealed lol.

To be fair, they don’t make their picks until tomorrow so it will be interesting if anyone realizes their conclusions from the group exercise.
