Prediction thread is created, just need an admin to approve the new thread. Hang tight, folks. Should be live today.
According to my teenage son, I should comfort you in the failure to complete your task regardless of the justification. I think I’m supposed to say something like Git Gud.

OK, I'll bite:

My thoughts:

I know we don't play the greatest regular season schedule but man oh man looking at your 2024 schedule: florida state, stanford and purdue are the worst teams in the sport right now. They're just embarrassing and seeing stanford lose to hawaii like they just did, double yikes. Then you also had army and navy on your schedule. Best win was clearly the aggies with a brand new head coach in his first game. Other than that you won by a TD vs a 4 loss louisville team, and the 3rd best win i guess would be a 6 loss usc team.

ND beat UGA (#6), PSU (#5), and Indiana (#10). Why aren't you including those games? You also cast aside regular season wins against 12-2 Army (#21) and 10-3 Navy, which is fine if maybe Miami played a gauntlet.

Which ranked teams did Miami beat last year?

You guys seem to have a ton of confidence in this run game that mustered 53 yards in the championship. Love had 46 yards vs penn state, and is not even in the stat sheet for the playoffs. Miami fans are saying this guy is the truth, that doesn't look like a whole lot of truth. Was he fighting injuries? Vs fsu he average 3 yards a carry, same vs louisville. I was expecting to be blown away by this guy the way miami fans talk about him, looks like a non-factor.

Love was hurt in the USC game, which impacted his viability during the stretch run. But I'm not sure what you mean about him "not even being in the stat sheet" for the playoffs. 8 carries and 108 yards against Indiana doesn't count?

I'm also curious why 1,125 yards, 17 TDs, and 6.9 YPC looks like a "non-factor" to you. Serious question - not trying to be a jerk. What does a "factor" look like, if not that?

And if you were returning a dominant defense, sure, maybe there's an argument that Love might not be effective against the Canes. And that might be true. But with the holes last year's defense showed, and a new coordinator + a bunch of transfers, where's the confidence coming from on that side of the ball?

The crap of some of you talk about beck is pretty irrational, and that's coming from someone that didn't like us getting him. Georgia led the country in drops while having a rushing game that ranked 105th in the nation. I'm not sure what you expect someone to do in that situation?

Beck was not good against the better defenses he faced last year, and his numbers dipped significantly from 2023 after losing Bowers, McConkey, and 3 OL to the NFL Draft. He's mediocre when he's under pressure. The talent is there, but he was not a very good QB last year.

I guess a lot of you weren't down there in 2017 for that game, that stadium is the most hostile in the country for big games. The previous game to that was vs va tech and it was nearly as loud for that game. This is going to be the real factor just like it was in 2017, because we probably lose that game on a neutral field and instead it's 34-0 in the 3rd quarter.

I was there, and the environment was great for the home team. All the credit to Canes fans for that one.

But ND went to Kyle Field last year and won, and played in playoff environments against UGA and PSU and came out on top. This is not a team that will be shaken by the bright lights, regardless of how loud it is.

And not only that, but didn't Canes fans stomp all over Florida to start last year? The same Florida team that glazed their team's chance against Miami because of the environment of the "Swamp"? Sounds like you're trying to have it both ways.

The poster on the front page that said you're walking into a hornets nest is right, this isn't gonna be any different atmosphere wise than 2017. Some tickets are going for $10k, I just don't see a qb with no experience going into this and coming out with a win. If you're going to this game I highly advise you to bring serious ear protection. During warm ups in 2017 you already couldn't hear the person next to you.

The game was loud, and the environment hostile. But that's what college football SHOULD be. Acting like it was a once in a lifetime environment is gilding the lily just a bit; it was loud, but it was fun. Good job by you guys! (For reference, I was at the VT/UM game the week before the ND/2017 showdown and thought it was just as loud).

But it's not going to decide the game. How do I know? Because past results do not equate to future performance. The 2016 Canes, who went 9-4 and won their bowl game, lost to the worst ND team of the decade that season. Before that, ND had dog-walked Miami in Chicago in 2012.

Those past results meant jackshit to ND's chances in the 2017 game, and that 2017 game means jackshit to the players on the field Sunday night - all of whom were in elementary school when it took place.

See you Sunday night.

can you imagine going 7 games with not one holding penalty called on the opposing teams offense line? Something like 600 plays in 2018 I believe it was, and this clown is gonna act like the NCAA doesn't have an issue with miami lmao
Saying "I come in peace" and then proceeding to push your bias onto this message board without listening to a single counterpoint...you aren't off to a good start. And you won't last too long at this rate.

Look at this game by game 2024 performance, it’s so mediocre. They lose the real “MVP” of college football last year in Cam Ward, so the absolutely massive jump they’d have to take across the board to make up for that is a large reason for confidence.

Could all of their new pieces hit? Sure, but in week 1? ND has significant less unknowns, and effectively just need CJ to play a pretty clean game and hit the open receivers. Miami needs all of their new guys to play to their potential to win. Possible? Yes. But a lot to ask in week 1.

I don't understand why you lot are calling miami delusional when posting something like this. The most important position on your team hasn't thrown a single pass... and we're gonna get stomped? I hope cristobal isn't THAT bad, sheesh

anyway, Good luck to you guys, part of me wishes you had taken down ohio state because them and bama are the worst cheats in this sport. Them along with georgia ruined the sport and caused the NIL to come alive. Now it's a shit show of who can pay the most money rather than recruiting and development.

Anyway as for miami:

Lance guidry should never coach at a high level of football ever again, that is the worst defensive coordinator I've ever seen. The defense will be better because that's simply the only direction it can go. Cam ward basically walked onto the field every time knowing if he didn't score a touchdown we would lose. Our offensive coordinator dawson is starting to really show his worth considering every single WR that ward threw to has been cut from nfl rosters. Number 1 offense in football with zero NFL WR's on it, that's earning your money right there. All of that is a mute point as of today, the entire secondary is 4 stars and up and is basically a new roster.

There's not a doubt in my mind who has the better head coach, and it's not cristobal. Never wanted him, still don't as he's done nothing at this level to earn 10 million a year for 8 years. His time at oregon gave him unlimited money in a terrible conference. He's been exposed for not being what his reputation is, saban's own words once said he's the greatest recruiter in the country. Well how hard is it to recruit during prime bama years and unlimited nike money? Now he's got a top 5 NIL money down at miami and he's in his 3 year coming off 3 losses with rather un-spectacular recruiting classes. Ward didn't play the 2nd half of the bowl game, so to be fair it would have been 2 losses but it's still not acceptable.

This is his THIRD defensive coordinator already, he simply doesn't have it unfortunately.

Their biggest win last year was Louisville? With a #1 overall pick?
He also mentioned how bad FSU was, but forgot we both played them. One dominated them 52-3 and the other (with the #1 overall pick in the NFL draft) was in a pretty good game until about 5 min left in the 3rd. Also worth mentioning, that game was Miami at night.

PSU/UGA/IU at home at night would have won by 50.

you do realize the NCAA puts a target on their back?

what's any of that got to do with what I said about alabama/uga/ohio state?

if NIL wasn't approved it would be the same top 4 teams every single year just like it had been. bama, uga, ohio state, and clemson

harbaugh literally called them cheats, but oook i'm wrong
You wanna whine about cheating and cite Jim freaking Harbaugh as a source?? On a Notre Dame board?

I'll engage:

I think your OL is more established and your tackles are highly rated. I think you have a certified game-wrecker on your DL. You have a very big QB experience advantage. You have a lot of new pieces that may go together seamlessly in primetime, in the first game of the year. And it sounds like that is exactly what you expect.

I trust that our DL is better than most Miami fans expect. I know our LBs are very good. I know our corners are very good, and our secondary as a whole has been a strength for 2 years. We don't know how our new DC will call the game. We don't know if your OL is capable of neutralizing our deepest front 7 in > 2 decades.

I don't know how our OL will look as we have multiple starters returning from injury. I believe J. Love will speak for himself, I'm not going to spend time defending him. Our WR talent is better than it has been but we need to see production. We have 1 top flight TE who should present some matchup issues. None of us know what to expect from Carr. We know he's capable of all the throws, will he take what Miami offers or will he get anxious and start trying to force TDs? Can the OL keep him clean so he has time to settle in. If he gets hit early, does it charge him up for a fight or does he get skiddish?

The stadium better be rocking, this is a top 10 matchup. You all really clutch the 2017 game as some type of "blue print" for success.

This Irish fan can't wait for the game!

Josh Pate puts out a 10 min segment where he spends the first 8 minutes talking about ND's strengths and then the last 2 where he gives one edge to Miami....one...and says that's the difference and picks The U to win. I honestly used to like this guy. The easiest take on this game is the following: This is potentially a strength-vs-strength matchup on both sides of the ball. Those games always come down to 1) turnovers 2) special teams 3) culture. I can see Miami winning this game if ND turns the ball over more than them or if ND's ST play terribly. But as far as culture, Miami aint there yet. Call it a pick em. Say Miami can win. That's fine. But good grief, don't spend an entire segment talking about how good ND is and then say Miami wins because of some hot take. ND is a proven team, with loads of talent and one of the best staffs in the country. What has Miami done recently? Fuck your "model." See you Sunday. Go Irish.

So many asinine things that others have already replied to by others, but I have to ask - who the hell is buying tickets for $10k? You can buy tickets for face value directly from UM still...either UM fans are easy marks, or that's just...not true. Or someone bought a suite for $10k so it's *technically* true
