Are you just super gullible? There's zero chance she's no one. Kylo was clearly lying, and even if that is the real direction Rian wanted to take it to frustrate the audience because that's apparently his fetish JJ is 100% retconning that decision.

I like the theory that Rey is a clone. Palpatine got his hands on either Lukes chopped off digits, or more likely a sample from when Anakin got all toasted up and used either to try and make himself a perfect sith apprentice. Then the idea of her parents being "no one" takes on a whole different meaning.

Unlikely, but I think it would be pretty awesome.

I just read some background on the EU (which I never read any) and Rey as a clone seems like the only thing that makes sense, except for maybe Rey encountering herself as a Sith in some type of trial (like Luke in Empire).

Her skin tone and makeup makes me think Clone Rey is chilling in the remnants of the Death Star with Clone/Ghost Palpatine, though.

I'm a bit over Disney and their handling of Star Wars right now. Bob Iger came out recently in his book and basically echoed the same mantra that Kathleen Kennedy was pushing out. He said that Disney may have "Put a bit too much out into the marketplace too fast." That was his excuse for Solo bombing. No, it had nothing to do with that, it was a direct backlash for the Last Jedi turd they gave us, a movie that has a 12% lower Rotten Tomatoes score compared to Phantom Menace! That's bad. They need to quit lying to the fans and trying to push a bullshit narrative, because if you continue to lie you're going to wind up with a lot of people boycotting Rise of Skywalker too and tarnishing it's legacy. At this point I'm on the fence, I'm in deep like a 7th season of Walking Dead...I want to walk away, but I've gone this far I might just finish it.

the SJW aspect of TLJ (politicizing it) was the original sin (Holdo in general, Force is female, the way they did Luke(no lines, killing him off), The way they did Admiral Ackar(killing him off-screen to make room for holdo), the treatment of Poe, Mary-Sueness of Rey, to a lesser degree the Leia silliness) - then capped off with Rian Johnson's assault on the SW community thru social media post TLJ, cemented Solo's fate. Combine that with all of Kathleen Kennedys comments.....Solo was a vehicle for life-long fans to give an FU to Disney.

Before TLJ was out, I made sure to avoid any and all spoilers; my approach with episode 9 has been different; I've watched every spoiler that has made any sense at all because I know, just like Solo there is absolutely no chance whatsoever will I pay to see the movie.

I actually agree with this. My biggest issue with TLJ is that it's the second installment in a trilogy yet it feels like absolutely nothing happens. It completely stunted the momentum TFA set up and I have no idea how JJ can wrap it all up in a satisfying way with one film. Our heros don't even all meet each other until the last 30 seconds of the second movie.

Not according to IMDB. There are 500k votes. A 7.1 does not reflect the vitriol that hardcore SW fans spew about TLJ. It's the 9th highest grossing film of all time, you don't make that type of money primarily on hardcore fans.

The Rise of Skywalker trailer was viewed 111 million times in its first 24 hours. That's 20 million more than TLJ, and more than double TFA.

You think the hype for it is dead because you're not hyped and you are more likely to interact with other hardcore fans that also hated TLJ.

The Rise of Skywalker will be huge and do a billion dollars, and then Star Wars fans will pontificate again about how the franchise is dead.

Nobody cares what a handful of critics say, critical reception has nothing to do with how well the public likes the film. Actually, if you check Reddit there has been a history of inflated IMDB ratings on movies. I wouldn't use that as a barometer either.

500,000 votes is obviously more reliable than 200,000.

Ignore both then. Just look at the box office. If general audiences hated TLJ as much as you think there's no way it should have made 1.33 billion. It would have needed to have horrible word of mouth to tank the next movie as bad as Solo flopped, instead it was still making 2 million a week 2 months after release.
