Saw in the comments on Twitter about the Juwaan punch/hit:
"To the Michigan fans downplaying this: go into work Monday and punch one of your coworkers if this is no big deal. Let us know how that goes."

True - I think my boss would be pretty hyped with me going to one of our competitors and punching one of their managers though...

Didn't realize this wasn't his first sideline incident as he had to be held back on several occasions during a verbal confrontation against Maryland. I think the incident was bad enough, but seeing he has lost his temper before it now rises to a fireable offense.

Yeah, he told the MD coach "I'll fu*kin kill you," now this. That's a pattern.

scUM always acts like they hold themselves in higher regard than other schools, then this happens (for the second time, and this time it escalated into physical assault) and they give him a slap on the wrist. Inexcusable. He also didn't back down or apologize after the game. He finally released an apology more than 24 hours later, which is way too late, not to mention probably mandated by his employer.

Howard has been suspended for 5 games. Fines are expected as well

$40k fine. That's it. A measly 1.6% of his annual salary.

He should have gotten the rest of the season including postseason too.

The assistant from UW that escalated should have gotten something as well. I suppose the slap was enough.

Wisconsin is paying Gard's $10K.

This feels a bit like Bobby Knight to me. Howard now has two strikes. The peanut gallery will go out of their way to push his buttons. It's only a matter of time till he pops.

What I don't understand is if you or I walked into our respective offices/workplaces, and slapped or punched a coworker, there's no question about it we lose our jobs, right?

Here we have public figures, getting paid asinine amounts of money, who are held to a completely different standard. I mean, this guy physically assaulted an assistant staff member of another team, on live television, over a non-issue. I mean wtf lol

Five game suspension. Unbelievable. It's not like he's had Tom Izzo or Coach K success to defend him, either. He had one good year and is drastically underperforming this szn. And this is already his second incident in just three years. They look like fools for this "punishment."

Edit: I'm not implying that success warrants errant behavior, but we all know it helps those successful individuals when these types of incidents arise...

To me the physical act of slapping wasn’t even remotely the biggest concern. It’s what that slap caused to take place immediately after. Suddenly you had players fighting. Everyone was just kind of standing around keeping each other at bay, then the Michigan coach gave the signal that it was go time. A coach just can’t do that.

I had forgotten that Brady QB that 1998 game. All I remember is scUM was coming off a shared National Championship, Griese had graduated, ND was not expected to win & Jarious Jackson went off that day.
