It's now being reported that what happened was:
1. Vikings' GM told him he was top choice and Harbaugh thought this second interview was a formality
2. He goes full Michael Scott assuming that he has the job
3. Instead of a formality, Vikings' owners put him through a grueling 9 hour interview session which he bombed
4. Having not been offered the job, he reaches out to Michigan and says "just kidding I had a change of heart"

At least Brian Kelly was smart enough when he interviewed with the Eagles to go radio silent until he knew if he'd be offered the job.

Where is this being reported?

I believe I read somewhere Harbaugh does all his own negotiations and does not use an agent.

Not sure if the Twitter poster thinks this is real or not. It obviously is not. I am curious how Michigan fan reacts to the Harbaugh embarrassment. I'm assuming most are gleeful, cause if he actually left this late in the game, there would be a ton of unplanned turmoil.

I can't speak for the Twitter poster, but the Michigan fans I know did respond that way...

Mgoblog is a good resource. Lol. Some aren't happy. Most are ok thats it lets keep rolling. I think they are at the stage we were with Kelly a few years back. Which is why I haven't given 2 shits about Kelly since 2016. Mad he left when he did, not mad that he left.

I’ll say, it’s still a bad look optically for Michigan but I have NEVER been a Gattis fan. I don’t think it’s a coincidence strides were made on offense when:
- Harbaugh reportedly took back some reigns
- They brought in a NFL guy as QB coach
- Mike Hart had as much momentum as HC replacement as Gattis.

I am skeptical that he didn’t get title credit for others actually taking part of his job off him.

Loy pissed all over the parade and said Rees will have other opportunities in the near future.

Whatever that means.

I do think that Rees will move on to another job in the near future, but he's in a position right now where he will have an HC opportunity in 1-2 years. He's only going to leave that for a perfect NFL job or a unicorn OC position elsewhere like what Miami was reportedly offering.
