Guess I will believe it when I actually get a confirmation. From all indications thus far, it sounds that his wife wants to stay on the West Coast and Oakland is gonna open the bank vault for his services very soon. In the end, I subscribe to the "happy wife, happy life" theory and think he is a Raider at the end of the day.

Hope you're right and Mrs. Harbaugh has more influence on where they reside than she does when it comes to Jim's fashion choices.

My buddy's company typically does the transportation for Michigan to and from the airport. Recruits, former coaches, etc. Will be interesting to see what happens going forward.

Now that makes total sense. Thanks.

Did you watch the game?

There is enough tension as is, and now they just blew a 21 point lead at home and lost.

He gone.

I agree that he is gone from SF but that's a huge leap to say he will go to AA when there are several pro teams that will be looking for a coach tha he will be a contender for them.

I'm basing it on the news that "he is torn between the two". So if leaves SF, I have to assume it's for Michigan.

He is torn between the NFL and UM, not the SanFran job. It was always expected he was done in SanFran for a while now. I fully expect the Raiders to rent the entire Brinks fleet and drop literal money bags on his front lawn. Regardless of the Raiders or not, there are Falcons, Bears, Jets, Giants, Dolphins etc..

I don't see him trading in the ability to manage a 53 man roster with having to deal with 100 kids, recruiting, donor schmoozing etc.

I would think he would be out of San Fran, but what about the contract?

Raiders or Michigan? Not a contest IMO. Take the UM job.

Except he hasn't won a super bowl and his brother has. In the end it will come down to whether or not its money, power and fame. If its true um is offering 8m a year, he isn't going to get much more than that in the NFL given 8m is the highest salary. But winning the super bowl at an Oakland or Miami is much more meaningful to the average football fan. Shula and madden offer more clout to the average fan than Lloyd Carr. Plus, he has all the power in the NFL if he gets his wish to have some control over the roster. Much easier to draft and sign who you want then recruit. Finally, there is the whole weather thing too. I think its more likely than not that um is a pawn right now setting up the move he really wants.

There is no non-competition clause for being in the NFL and then heading to college. There might be minor compensation but there is nothing holding Harbaugh to SF if he chose to go to college.

If you don't think the NFL is going to ante up over $8mill per year to get Harbaugh you are nuts. Some franchises won't, like Chicago (or so I hear), but if you don't think the Dolphins or Falcons or Jets won't you are high.

That's not what I said. I said he isn't likely to get much more than that. I doubt he is going to get a 9 or 10 million deal, which would put him millions more than the next highest paid coach.

They should look for a football coach with the name Rockne.

You know, mend a fence or two.

And blow up the Michigan blogs.

And spin a few "Michigan Men" in their graves.
