Jeff Snook
-OSU alum
-former OSU beat reporter (maybe he still is)
-'published author', with titles such as "What it means to be a Buckeye" (which just so happens to have had the Foreword written by one Urban Meyer)

LOL, bringing lots of credibility to the 'other side of this story'. Reminds me of Dan Weber writing the 'other side of the story' during the Reggie Bush/USC investigation.

Not saying he isn't a OSU scumbag, but I'd like to understand the timing. They both could be self centered POSs.

Early on, the rumored source for Bret McMurphy was Ed Warinner. McMurphy responded that Warinner was not the source. Not sure if he has done the same with Herman. If he hasn’t, the silence should speak volumes.

He has. I'm sure next the source will be Luke Fickell.

Don’t see a problem here. Herman didn’t make up the abuse and encouraging her to go public so the POS gets fired is a good thing. Sure he is trying to capitalize on the bad situation. Coaches and recruiters did the same thing with the PSU fiasco. IMO there is plenty of evidence that he abused her multiple times and he needed to be gone.

Every time information comes out in this case that shows to support Urban or discredit Courtney Smith, it seems to always come from someone close to the program or with obvious ties. Call me skeptical...

Or, maybe DJ Durkin....

Coached under Meyer in 2010, Meyer's last season, and just happens to be the year after 2009 incident. Durkin is actually from Harbaugh's tree though, but at that time who knew that Meyer and Harbaugh would be B1G rivals??

So, per my source (unnamed, but the anagram is ffS Jenook):
-Harbaugh, knowing that he cannot go to 0-4 against OSU, asked Durkin for ANYTHING on Meyer to get him fired
-Durkin tells Harbaugh about the talk in Gainesville about the 2009 incident (which never happened, because 'why would Urban Meyer EVER lie about anything?')
-Harbaugh realizing that he cannot be a source for this - because that would make him look like a desperate loser (okay, like an even BIGGER desperate loser) if anyone found out that he was the source - asks Durkin for a solid, and to leak this (fake news) to Brett McMurphy
-Courtney Smith is granted a protection order from Zach Smith (well, the courts just give these to anyone right? this is no indication that he was in any way abusive). In truth, it was Jim Harbaugh in a Zach Smith (Mission Impossible mask) who was 'staging' a trespass at Courtney Smith's home, to push this issue into current (FAKE) news
-McMurphy reports on Courtney Smith's story of the 2009 incident
-Later the same day, OSU fires Zach Smith: NOT because of any abuse, but because after many years Urban finally realized Smith was a bad WR coach...ok, really because Zach missed one of Urban's Real Life Wednesdays the previous week
-When Urban was questioned at B1G media day, he was NOT dishonest: He truly thought that McMurphy was asking about ZacK Smyth....Urban has never had a Zack Smyth coach under him, so of course there were no incidents. Why would someone even make up a story to disparage this unknown Zack Smyth?
-When Urban released his statement a week ago Friday, he clarified that he didn't answer accurately (some people are saying he LIED at B1G media day, but how can it be a lie if he TRULY thought that the question was about a Zack Smyth)
-The 2015 incidents were clearly raised to the AD, but he was busy at the time trying to get the damn button and zipper closed on those effing gold pants (they must have shrunk in the wash in the previous half decade). Gene put the notes about the alleged abuse and reminder to file a Title IX report in one of the pants pockets but forgot to remove it when the pants went for alteration. Gene found the note last Wednesday (REAL LIFE Wednesday) when the pants came back from the tailor; there were several pairs of gold pants requiring alterations, so they took some time. That explains why the Title IX report is dated August 2, 2018.
-It will take 14 days to explain all of this to the independent investigation team

Skip forward a little...
-D J Durkin and the Maryland staff are put on leave...this was really karma stepping-in, as Urban is such a stand-up guy

Agree. My guess is they are trying to discredit Courtney Smith as much as possible in order to help Meyer.

https://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2018/08/latest_on_ohio_state_urban_mey.html

Snook reports he confirmed as much, through text messages, with Courtney Smith's estranged mother, Tina Carano.

"I believe that Zach was removing himself from an argument and I do not believe he intentionally abused her," Tina Carano said in the text. "I do not believe he actually intentionally swung or punched her ... no."

Did she ever hear Courtney Smith say she would "take Zach down," Carano replied, "Yes."

And was Meyer's name mentioned?

"I cannot quote her exact words as I don't remember them word for word, but something to that extent. This is my daughter and I love her but I do not approve of what she has done and how it was done."

She's estranged from her mom, but has a text session with her about Zach Smith? Then although she has been texting Courtney, mom can't recall the exact words? Does anyone else smell a mackerel?

It was not the clearest article, but as I read it, Courtney’s mom was recalling verbal conversations with her daughter, texting with this Snook guy.
Regardless, the amount of victim-shaming going on here is gross. The only real issue is what Meyer knew and did about it.

I'm definitely against victim shaming, but is there any chance this actually is a case of a vindictive woman exaggerating her claims or even making it all up? Let's be honest, it's happened before.

Sure there is. These two clearly had a messy relationship, and things get messy. That’s why the real issue is what did Meyer know and do about it. Did he report to the proper authorities and let them investigate? Or look the other way to protect a valuable assistant?
We don’t know the answer to that yet. But, until we do, “she’s a crazy bitch” shouldn’t be the default position.

I agree, but I also haven't seen that anywhere, definitely not in major news outlets. The default position also shouldn't be "Meyer knowingly protected a wife beater and should be fired immediately." That position, I have seen.

Of course if i'm being honest, I hope he gets fired because I hate the guy.

Possibly, but the pictures of the bruising look pretty damning, as well as the texts.

The point that seems to be lost is, the covering up of the situation with Meyer's response "who even makes up stories like these".

I understand the old school, "deny, deny, deny"....but in the age of instant communication by every single person on the planet....you can't get away with it anymore.

Hard lesson for Urban Meyer and even if he sneaks past this one.....his wiggle room as a HC is gone, and the negative recruiting against OSU will certainly intensify.

Clay Travis doesn't think Meyer sneaks by on this one.

I have no idea if she is bringing this back up now just to be vindictive, but is this really different from all of the women who are coming out public now about getting grabbed, poked at assaulted 10-20 years ago?

They've got texts where she is telling the guy that she's not going to put up with the hitting or the choking any more, and he says "I know, sorry!"

He's clearly a POS that's been hurting her. Is it possible that she's bat-shit crazy and making some of this stuff up? Absolutely, and she's likely embellishing a lot of her claims to try and shore up her own side. But McMurphy has several smoking guns that show he was legit abusing her, as long as they can match the screen grabs to real cell records.

I believe Urban is a pathalogical liar.

Old article from The Sporting News. Contains gems like the one quoted below. Stories about guys suddenly being "injured" and walking boots being placed upon legs when somebody would fail a drug test.
From champs to chomped: How Urban Meyer broke Florida football

The uproar and controversy of Urban Meyer’s stunning recruiting coup at Ohio State settled in and Stefon Diggs, still on the Buckeyes' wish list, was debating his future.

Diggs, the second-highest rated wide receiver in the country, had narrowed his list of potential schools to Maryland, Florida and Ohio State. For more than a week following National Signing Day on Feb. 1, and before Diggs eventually signed with Maryland, Meyer relentlessly pursued Diggs.

Multiple sources told Sporting News that Meyer—who won two national championships in six years at Florida and cemented his legacy as one of the game’s greatest coaches—told the Diggs family that he wouldn’t let his son go to Florida because of significant character issues in the locker room.

Character issues that we now know were fueled by a culture Meyer created. Character issues that gutted what was four years earlier the most powerful program in college football
