You have to remember, there is about 40 mil at stake here. It's clear in his contract he is obligated to report, including events in the past. But they need more than presumption. I think this will be a two or three week event. Probably am wrong, but oh well.

But if it's about the money, then they've already determined he knew what was going on and they're negotiating his departure. At that point it's a matter of when (and how much), not if.

The conspiracy theory on Petrino is that there was no motorcycle wreck. The fiance beat the crap out of him and he needed the wreck as a storyline to explain the injuries. Either way, power corrupts...

I think various parts of the story have gotten out, so different people have heard partial truths.

There WAS a motorcycle wreck, but he [allegedly] also got his ass beat by the chick’s fiancé earlier in the day or the day before. Most of the visible injuries in that famous press conference picture were actually [allegedly] from getting pummeled and dragged through a parking lot.

I also heard a rumor that the motorcycle crash was intentional... sort of a “cry for help” deal once Petrino and his boo realized they had both ruined their personal lives.

For what its worth, pulled from MGoBlog and then from an OSU board:

From a coworker who is osu alumni and connected there still

Our friend is a personal friend of Urban, this information supposedly came from Urban. Thought you would like to know.

*Urban is looking at a 3-4 game suspension, mostly because the #MeToo movement and the appearance the university must give.

*Many members of the University have known about both her and him for quite some time.

*They never acted on information because there was never any proof of guilt one way or the other.

*Photos are from 2010 and there is no proof the harm was caused by him.

*He and she are both drunks and they are both crazy. She is REALLY crazy.

*She called 911 (66) times in 90 days.

*She got pulled over 3 times for DUI. On each time they let her off and escorted her home.

*Each time she began crying and stated Zach was chasing her and she was afraid. Each time Zach was at practice.

*911 actually stopped sending squads because they stopped finding her credible. They came numerous times with 911 verifying Zach was engaged in Ohio State activities.

*In Zach's and her court hearing the Powell police are testifying on his behalf.

*She has come to OSU practices numerous times drunk, chasing after Zach, threatened to blow people up and other various threats.

*She never worked and when divorced lived off of Zach's child support.

*When Zach was fired she realized she would lose income and freaked out. She reached out to anyone. She was asking 6-figures for her story.

Anything can still happen, but they decided to suspend Urban with pay to separate the media frenzy from the practices. Apparently there is no proof of anything. Just two crazy people who should have never been together.

wow, that's pretty crazy.

If true, not even sure why he should get suspended.

Isn’t some of that stuff verifiable?

Even if some of that stuff is partially true, Shelley Meyer is caught in a text stating that Smith actually scared her. I’m not sure the University trying to then go with the “well, we didn’t find her credible” defense is going to go over too well if others thought he posed a threat.

That smells like fake news.

Some are calling BS on the 11Warriors website. One person specifically pointed out that the phone in the abuse pictures didn't hit the market until 2013 while the fake news posting alleges that the pics are from 2010.

Well if the whole history with cops is true, and the cops didn't find her credible, then...
It's a pretty messed up collection of claims.

I agree with that. I met Petrino leaving a hotel and he’s a tiny fella. He was cordial enough as no fans were bombarding him but didn’t give the impression of an Alpha male. Hopefully, for his & his family’s sake, he has turned his life around.

Didn't take long for the anonymous "Trailer Trash" attacks to begin to attempt to discredit the ex-wife. From an anonymous "OSU alumni" ... "connected there" ... "personal friend of Urban" ... "information supposedly came from Urban". Yeah, and I have a lawyer acquaintance downtown.

How incredibly stupid is Meyer supposed to be? He's got tens of millions of dollars riding on this and he confides in a blabber mouth? Or is this a lawyer leaking innuendos?

3. "Suspension" and the tOSU so carefully noted it was a "paid leave of absence". #MeTooMovement is about rape.

4&5. They knew about it for a long time BUT took no action? Then fired the assistant after her last allegation ... when they hadn't been proven. Hmm, sounds like grounds for wrongful termination.

6. How did Urban know when the photos were taken if he didn't know anything?

7. They're "both drunks ... both crazy". And Urban and tOSU kept him on staff for how many years? Did you require alcohol abuse counseling? Much less spouse abuse.

8. 66 calls to 991 but she wasn't charge with false reporting ... frivolous use of police resources?

9. She got pulled over 3 times for DUI but taken home with no charges. Standard practice for Powell residents, or special treatment for relatives of coaches of The State University? No charges, no summons. PD abuse of the system? Did the police get "gold pants" in quid pro quo?

10. & 11. They stopped responding but again they didn't charge her with false allegations? He didn't sue her for defamation or get a cease and desist order?

12. Powell PD testifying on his behalf. Truth? Covering their asses? Or more gold pants?

13. She did all that numerous times and nothing was done until after they got divorced then tOSU fired HIM?

14. OMG, she lived off the child support! Nobody does that. And ex-husbands never file to have the child support lowered because it obviously wasn't needed for the children if she was living off it. Sigh, more "trailer trash" defense work.

15. She was losing her "meal ticket". Could be, but he's been making 6 figures for several years. The man has assets which come into play. And, if he ends up delivering pizza he still gets his salary attached for the kids.

16. Again suspension instead of leave of absence. And "no proof of anything". Wrongful termination looks better with every trailer trash smear and Urban's loose lips. Funny that Meyer would step on his tongue so completely as he was on Bob Davie's staff when Davie told his OLine coach he was "too old" and UND and Davie got sued for wrongful termination/age discrimination. Meyer's been around too long to be as stupid as the mgo/osu boards portray him. Arrogant perhaps, an idiot, no.

Jerry Springer could run a season long show off this script.

I think it would be very interesting to see what the fall out would be if Urban is not fired?

From campus demonstrations/protests to college gameday signs to a new precedence when it comes to disciplining coaches (or lack of). Could the BIG10 get involved, NCAA won’t obviously. Does Trump not have a comment?

What’s the ripple affect if Urban remains the coach at OSU?

OSU has put together an independent council to look into this and Meyer is already suspended. How many times does this happen to a coach and they return? Slim to none and Slim just rode out of town on the last horse. NBC Nightly News mentioned this story last night. When the regular news media mentions this, it can't be good.

McMurphey was on Travis Clay yesterday morning. Some interesting points.

1. ESPN was slow to report because ESPN laid off McMurphy last year. Doesn't look good when you lay off a reporter and they break the biggest story in CFB. McMurphy will be joining Fox Sports this month.

2. McMurphy did this investigation on his own without an employer which is why he reported the story on FB.

3. He stands firmly behind his facts. He's met with Mrs. Smith numerous times and has seen the text messages.

4. He firmly believes Meyer knew about these incidents.

Other thoughts:
Meyer is the highest paid state employee in Ohio. He's going to be held to a higher standard. Saying he reported this isn't enough.

Smith is known to be the key to OSU's successful recruiting classes. Meyer kept him on because of his recruiting ability?

Urbie kept Smith on, even after, 2009, because he has a hard on for Earle Bruce. Plain and simple.

Most women are rationale and reasonable. This really is a unique situation.

This should all be verifiable with the exception of the DUIs, given they "let her off". But even if she wasn't charged, the mere stop is likely documented by the police officer.

*911 actually stopped sending squads because they stopped finding her credible. They came numerous times with 911 verifying Zach was engaged in Ohio State activities.

There has to be record of this at the police station. And if it's not written, there has to be multiple people employed there who can substantiate the claim.

*In Zach's and her court hearing the Powell police are testifying on his behalf.

Just order court records to find out.

*She has come to OSU practices numerous times drunk, chasing after Zach, threatened to blow people up and other various threats.

This only makes it worse for Urban. I'm sure parents would be thrilled to their teenagers to Urban so they can take part in drunken domestic disputes.

I'm not inclined to believe any of this but it's certainly plausible. If any of this is substantiated, and most of it can be, I think it's enough to save Urban's job. The hardest part will be figuring out how to delicately tell the story without being too harsh on the the victim of alleged abuse.

Urban should have fired him, paid for both to get treatment and then paid both a salary out of his own pocket until they got on their feet if he felt compelled to do so as compensation for what his father did for Urban's career.
