Giants picking Jones at #6 is a fireable offense. They probably could have gotten him at #17 or even the 2nd round.

Well I'm pleased. Got a top 5 talent, and no matter how ESPN tries to spin it the ACL is the reason he fell, not the video of him in high school.

A lot of really quality skill guys left on the board here. No wideouts and only one corner taken so far. I don't blame the Colts for trading for another second round.

So happy for Jerry Tillery. Jerry has been linked to the Chargers for a while now. Congratulations Jerry Tillery on being selected in the first round of the NFL draft!

Hopefully in 2020 draft Notre Dame has one or two defensive linemen get drafted in the first.

Damn, I was hoping nobody would get drafted from Pac12 in the first. They got a late run.

Very proud of Zac Taylor for sticking to the Bengals draft board... best player available among OL and LB.

With White and Bush off the board, they took the best OL in the draft. Smart pick, didn’t over-think it.

Had Jonah Williams been gone, then maybe you blow it up and take Haskins.

However, Haskins wouldn’t fix the OL or LB units, both of witch are much bigger issues than Andy Dalton currently.

Now, the question is if Jawaan Taylor or Cody Ford fall to them at pick 10 in the second round, do they complete the OL rebuild at risk of screwing the LB unit, or do they reach for a serviceable LB?

I think one of those OL men will be available with pick 10 in the second round. Then in the 3rd the bengals could get LB Bobby Okereke or in the 4th get Tevon Coney. Much better value than reaching for an off the ball linebacker in the early second.

The Chargers defensive front is now even more scary. Insane.

Seattle Draft

Seattle Draft

On Wednesday, Seattle had four picks in the 2019 Draft. Now they have nine. On Wednesday, they had no picks from 21 until 84 (third). Seattle did not have picks in the second, sixth or seventh rounds due to trades for Duane Brown, Brett Hundley and Shalom Luani, respectively.

The four picks:
First round, pick No. 21 overall;
Third round, pick No. 84 overall;
Fourth round, pick No. 124 overall;
Fifth round, pick No. 159 overall.

A trade with KC for Frank Clark netted them KC's first rounder (29), a second rounder in 2020 and a switch of their third rounders, getting KC's No. 92 for their No. 84.

Trades on Day 1:
The Seahawks traded No. 21 to Green Bay for the Packers No. 30 (first round), No. 114 (fourth) and No. 118 (fourth).

SEA trades No. 30 obtained from the Packers to the Giants. The Seahawks got the Nos. 37 (second), 132 (fourth) and 142 (fifth) picks in return.

Their ninel picks:
» Round 1: No. 29 (from Chiefs; L.J. Collier, DE, Texas Christian)
» Round 2: No. 37 (from Giants)
» Round 3: No. 92 (from Chiefs)
» Round 4: Nos. 114 (from Packers), 118 (from Redskins through Packers), 124, 132 (from Saintsthrough Giants)
» Round 5: Nos. 142 (from 49ers through Lions and Giants), 159

Now if they trade back from 37...

Agree, a lot of people thought that after about the 12th pick, there wasn't any true 1st talent left. Little difference in talent from there through the second round. I think he did this because all of the D line talent got gobbled up early. Might as well drop back a little and pick up an extra 2nd round pick for next year and you pick fairly early in the second round this year.

Congrats to Terry Jillary.

Disappointing the Colts traded back and didn't get Tillery or Sweat. Would have really liked to add a stud to the front 4.

Lot's of T1 talent left for them at 34 though, and possibly 46 and 59. WR, S, and CB are deep.

Surprised the Pats finally took a 1st round WR.

Biggest wants in Day 2 with 26, 46, 59, and 89 are
1. Either AJ Brown, Isabella, or DK Metcalf at WR
2. Either Rapp, CGJ, or Thornhill at S
3. BPA at CB or OT
4. And Ballard channeling his inner superhero power once again (like with Lenoard) and finding a DT that becomes the biggest sleeper in the draft.

LOVED the Steelers drafting Bush and not giving up a whole lot for him. They knew who they wanted and they went and got him.

They reached IMO. Gave up a lot of draft capital to get a sub 6' LB. There is too much talent out there to give up a 2nd this year and 3rd next to make this pick.

Oh, and he's from Meatchicken. They'll need to disinfect the locker room each time he walks out.

they identified a need, wanted either him or white...bungles were going to pick bush if they didn't so they had to move in before them...solid pick

He’s not a reach. He wouldn’t have been there if Pittsburgh had stayed at 20 and I’m fairly certain the Bengals would’ve taken Bush at 11 if he was there. They still have 2 picks on day 2; their normal 3rd round and a very early 3rd pick from acquired from OAK. The 2020 3rd round pick they gave up is fine because they’ll be getting a 3rd round comp pick next year for Bell.

The “he’s short” thing doesn’t make much sense to me. He tested out just as good as Devin White. Linebackers rarely use their height to make plays anyway.

Bottom line, Pittsburgh needed to fix their situation at inside linebacker. They did it with someone who has GREAT sideline-to-sideline speed and that is needed in toady’s NFL. One GM for a team had Bush at #2 on their big board. It would’ve been a risky move to wait until a later round to get a LB. They tried to trade up last year, they failed, and it showed on Sundays.

Great for Tillery, a true Notre Dame man. I wish him a career that is both prosperous and short enough that he can move on to what will likely be a very interesting life with his health intact.

Also, who was the last defensive player ND had taken in the 1st round? Teo, Tuitt and Jaylon were all early second. Am I missing someone, or has it kind of been awhile?

Harrison Smith in 2012 at 29.
Before that, one in 97, and two in 94.

Who we taking in the 2nd and 3rd Camper?

DB, LB or maybe OT... hard to forecast a single player with a mid 2nd or 3rd rounder but some names I think they would love to have available at either spot:

Cody Ford
Jawaan Taylor
Greedy Williams
Rock Ya-Sin
Gardner-Johnson
Greg Little
Julian Love
Taylor Rapp
Mack Wilson
Coney

They might even get crazy and go DK Metcalf

A couple of mocks see us taking the CB from Sparty. But they also thought Greedy would be gone already. is Greedy that much better that they may make a play to draft up to get Greedy? I think both have comparable size. But Sparty always puts out good CBs and should we just be patient and wait for him?

Yeah, the heights not an issue. I don’t know if it’s a result of Michigan’s defensive system but what concerns me about Bush is that, while productive, he he never forced a fumble in college, and had only 18.5 tackles for a loss in his career. I know White was only marginally more productive but I just think that they were both overrated (by everyone) because of their combine testing. I understand ILB is probably the biggest area of need for the Steelers and I don’t doubt he’s the second best in the class, but I just don’t think he’s the tenth best player in the draft.

His production worries me.
