Basically he threw tons of shade at DK, and everything he said was correct... look I love DK, he's our QB, but I don't see him ever being a successful pro QB. Waisted pick imo.

Fuck Kiper.
I couldn't care less about the Browns and, TBH, I'm pretty meh about Kizer's pro career. But really sick of these mock draft clickwhores who hype Notre Dame guys (and other high-profile college players) during/after the college season, then rag on them in April when the combine and scouting has surfaced a new flavor of the month. If Kiper is supposed to be some draft savant, you'd think he might have noticed guys like Trubisky and Mahomes back in October, and the flaws in Kizer's game. I mean, there's actual game footage to watch instead of this meat market measurables and interviews BS. But no, it's Big Name QB as a top ten pick because that's a recognizable picture you can pop out front and drive traffic on the website. Fuck that noise.
That hype has a real effect. It encourages guys like Kizer to jump to the pros, maybe before they should. And it hurts programs like Notre Dame, who watches a good QB leave early, fall in the draft and land at the worst franchise in the NFL.

I am no Kiper fan anymore. But your post is completely off base.

It's pretty well known that Kiper is a Notre Dame fan. So he is not hating on Kizer because he is anti ND.

Actually Kiper did notice Trubisky in October, probably late September. For the majority of the year Kiper had Trubisky as his top QB. Kiper was never high on Kizer. I don't think he ever had Kizer in his top 25 at any point this year. And Kiper is so well established he could careless about clicks.

Kiper is ok...I really think he is basically reliant upon his experience and what he sees. Seems not to be a douche.

As for the Browns taking DK... Who in Cleveland can mentor him? What was everyone with a brain saying the kid needed? He needed Phoenix, Pittsburgh, or any place where there is a damned established and successful signal caller. Unless Cleveland hires Peyton Manning to do nothing but coach up Kizer...the Browns condemned yet another kid to career death. Good luck DK, hope you prove me wrong.

That's pretty much Hue Jackson's whole deal. He's a QB whisperer. Hell look what he got out of Kessler last year.

Does Kizer regret coming out for the Draft now? I mean, I'm still a Browns fan and I'd regret it if I was in his shoes.

Any of his work that I acknowledge was as an OC or in the role as Qb coach BTW it doesn't take a Qb whisperer to get Carson Palmer to play, nor Joe Flacco. I give him 100% credit for Dalton. I might buy this whisperer idea if he were the Qb coach, or even the OC. He is the head coach...he isn't spending all his time in the QB room, so whatever magic people think he has, it was not on display last year IMHO. He literally had a herd of QBs, and Kessler's performance is not something I'd hold up as proof of Jackson's Brilliance. The way I see it...Kizer is going to a place where the one guy that MAYBE could help him isn't in a role where he can help him, and there is 0, nuthin, zippo, NADA in terms of other QBs he can rely upon. If history is any kind of guide here...Kizer will get the nod, and spend his time in constant survival mode. The game will never really slow down, and he'll be damaged beyond reclamation. He'll kick around the league for 3-5 with no real shot after Cleveland.

Dallas and Green Bay fvcked us by taking Awuzie and Josh Jones literally right before we drafted. Those were 2 guys that I really liked and probably would've at least contributed right away.

With that being said, rumor has it that JuJu was the best player available in terms of BPA on the Steelers draft board in their war room. We all watched him tear it up for 3 years at USC; I really like the pick. Pittsburgh struggled last year without having a true #2 receiver as the opposing defenses were able to only have to really focus on AB. This year, that will be a different story; Martavis Bryant, JuJu Smith, and a more experienced Eli Rogers will be able to carry some of the load.

Then you obviously have to love the James Connor pick in the 3rd round. Its only right that he got drafted by Pittsburgh. He's a big, punishing running back that will be a good compliment to LeVeon Bell's running style.

Pittsburgh drafted James Connor and Cinci drafted Joe Mixon; they literally went in opposite directions lol.

May have been a bit of beer talking last night. I do see a story from December where Kiper, and McShay, both say Kizer should have stayed in school another year. Fair enough.

But.

This is the third ND quarterback in ten years who has been heavily hyped in fall/early winter mock drafts, then fallen hard by draft day. To a lesser extent, a similar thing happened to Teo. I don't think that's an accident. Whether it's Kiper or any of the dozen wannabe-Kiper's out there, they know that talking up big-name players at marquee programs helps draws more attention than some rando like Mahomes. They have an incentive to hype household names. Actual NFL teams have a very different incentive.

I don't think they do this because they're anti-ND (if anything the older guys like Kiper and King are the opposite). But I don't think it helps our program either, which I care about a lot more than the NFL careers of Jimmy Clausen and Deshone Kizer.

Just when I start liking the Cowboys, they draft 2 skunkbears.

Seriously though, they're having another good draft I think.

That defense is gonna be nasty, especially if our man heals and gets into the mix!

I def hear you. And I was a little tipsy also.

Let's hope that the same doesn't happen to Wimbush....

On the bright side we are a lock, baring injuries, for 2 first round picks next year and possibly as many as 4.

McGlinchey, Nelson, EQ and Mack. I'm calling lock, again baring something unforeseen, two of them first round picks and up to 4 possible.

We don't have an OC. That's a big part of what Hue's job is. I mean what's the point of arguing this if you aren't going to acknowledge the work he did with Kessler.

I never even knew the Eagles had a song... but after hearing five or six terrible renditions of it this weekend I've come to conclude they shouldn't have one.

On a purely "value and skill only" basis, the Bengals have hit a homerun so far.

They need to dump two of their extra picks and move up for Jake Butt. I'd be really happy.

Steelers grab Dobbs over Kaaya in round 4. Dobbs has what you want in a QB, good athleticism, good arm strength and very smart, the question remains whether he will be able to put it together. I think I personally would have drafted Kaaya before him but we will see as he is likely to sit behind both Ben and Jones for at least 2 years.

The Steelers draft has been pretty good so far with Watt, Juju and Sutton all being potential/eventual starters or impact players. Not a huge fan of the Conner pick in round 3 but hopefully Conner's lack of speed doesn't make him useless other than being a short yardage back.

Steelers still likely will draft a safety and ILB in the remaining rounds.

Didn't Michigan have like 34 seniors? We had like....14? And our two best players Big Mike & Q both came back for their senior seasons. Not saying we had as much talent but I'd be willing to bet we put more in the league this next draft. Just like the one prior.

List of draft-eligible guys. Don't see anything indicating Cole will get drafted. Was and am surprised by that. I'm sure someone will take a flier on Jarron. Other than that...
