I didn't like the trade, but let's be fair, 3 mid round picks is not selling the farm. Selling the farm is trading a 3rd and a future 1st for Patrick friggin' Mahomes.

We don't have a third or fourth round pick in the deepest draft in years. We also lost a pick next year. The trade was worth over 400 points, once of the most expensive trades since Ditka sold it all for Ricky Williams. It is the definition of "selling the farm".

Very pleased with the 9ers. Put emphasis on patching the gaping holes on defense and didn't reach on a QB. Hopefully doing what ACamp said the Texans did (which I agree with). Build the team, then get your QB. I'm fine with Hoyer this year, let's get everything in place first.

Should we wait until Saturday night to predict this? There are a lot of really good players on the board that could have a really good chance to win offensive/defensive ROY.

I thought now because most of the players expected to be high impact were drafted last night. If you or others want to see how tonight or tomorrow goes and update or post then, well that's fine. My guess is most posters would feel those predicted to be ROY O and D were taken off the board last night. Personally I think OJ Howard and either Jamal Adams or Soloman Thomas will be the ROY winners. I know that's not a big reach on the defensive side but those guys are studs. And the Bears could've had one of them.

That was the type of trade that Belichick shakes his head in bewilderment at. Just brutal. No justifying moving up like that in a draft as loaded as this.

Like what the Browns and 49ers are doing.

The Bears didn't go RG3 nuclear, and by the time the Texans moved up to 12th to get Watson, three QBs went off the board in the first dozen picks. Maybe they all knew something the rest of us didn't as it relates to the QB market in this draft. Either Lynch made the Bears bid against themselves or there was demand for that pick to get young Mitchell the Tar Heel. We'll never know.

I'm wondering if one or two more QBs go before Kizer does. I hope he doesn't free fall too badly for his own sake. Then again, he could be a Wilson-Prescott kind of bargain.

Wooly, the Rams and Eagles both made a way more expensive trade just last year. Or last friggin' night when KC and the Texans both traded future 1st rounders for very flawed QBs. Or 2014 when Buffalo traded up for Sammy Watkins. Or 2013 when Miami traded up to 3rd for Dion Jordan. Or 2012 when RG3 was bought for a king's ransom. Those are all trades that were bigger by the value points, and that's just in the last 5 years. Literally the very first result when you google "selling the farm" is: to liquidate all one's assets in order to raise money to invest in something. Da Bears gave up 3 mid round picks for a QB; the picks were spread out over 2 years and then had an additional mid round pick this year anyways. The only way you can actually call this selling the farm is if you are willing to use the idiom in a watered down manner.

Also, you're wrong, the Bears do have a 4th round pick. They have Buffalo's from a trade last year.

The Browns were smart stockpiling picks. The 49ers were smarter. Both teams will be completely remodeled in 2 years. They'll build up talent around the QB position then both will get their QBs next year.

I would hate to be a Bears, Chiefs or Texans fan right now. They were all poor moves based on value. One or two of those QBs may turn into adequate signal callers, hell one of them may make a pro bowl in the future, but it was still a bad move giving up so many picks.

Meanwhile, the Browns will still have a top 5 pick next year as will the 49ers, and they'll both snag their QBs next year (not necessarily in the first round).

If I were a Browns fan, i'd be ecstatic barring the Peppers pick. I like Peppers as a prospect but it was a reach. They could've taken a White or Foster or another DE and killed that first round. I don't know enough about the TE they grabbed with their last pick.

I'd be equally excited as a niners fan. Stockpiling picks is the greatest way to increase your chance of hitting on a prospect.

Absolutely! When I saw we made a trade with Da Bears, I figured we'd swap picks and get a 3rd or 4th. Not both PLUS a 3rd next year. that's insane.

Then they made a good trade for Foster with the Seahawks. Moved up 3 spots for a great LB plus give up the Bears 4th round pick. That dealin'. Just hoping Foster keeps his head on straight. Should be a tackle machine.

F-ing Bears are dead to me. After all the mess of the last thirty years this is beyond comparison and I can't take it any more. Had they wasted #3 on MT it would have been bad enough but holy hell they lose two starter potential picks this year and one next year!

Obviously teams were shopping to move up for QBs - they surely had the opportunity to move down and got schooled instead. Next year is when you go for the QB - Bears aren't winning shit this year and will have another Top 10 pick - could have had two Top 10s next year if they played their cards right and got a little lucky with the trade partner sucking next year too.

Damn near guaranteed pro-bowl caliber player for a low probability project QB who would have been maybe sixth QB next year. HOLY CRAP ARE THEY STUPID. Tip of the cap to San Fran - well played. Just about every team in the league got better yesterday and the Bears got worse.

Watson to Houston is the best pick of the night.... he's a serious RoY threat in that scenario... that's how you chase a QB, get everything in line THEN get your QB... Watson would fail and be out of the league if drafted by 60 plus percent of the league, he'll succeed there.

It doesn't matter if they moved up one spot. They did it to get the guy they wanted. Right or wrong, that's what they did. What's odd is they have a lot of money tied up in this kid and the Glennon signing. I would also assume this means Mark Sanchez won't make the roster?

I would agree with you, however, that it appears that Ryan Pace likes the rest of his roster a lot more than just about everyone else. I'm wondering if there are more moves to come. One thing is for sure, they need to go offense now the rest of this draft. They'd better snag Cam Robinson at 36 if he's there. Or trade up to get HIM too.

To the bolded: I actually started a conversation with my buddies about who I should switch to. Honestly, I love the Bears, but I can't support a front office like this. I don't care for many other teams, but I could root for the Cowboys (I can't wait to see Jaylon play) and I've always had a thing for the 49ers. Pretty much any other team, I'm 'meh' about.

O'Brien has not shown the ability to develop a qb, and the offense has looked worse every year he has been there. It honestly seemed like a panic move once they saw Mitch and Mahomes go.

There were very few places where any of those QBs could have gone that could have worked, very few,... that could work, very well, very quickly. Considering how we mouth breathers all slurp on QBs, if that works and is the final piece of Houstons puzzle, it will be the pick most remembered, easily, that's where I was coming from. Not so much from a standpoint of, that's the best value or best player etc....
