I still can't believe what Chicago gave up so they could move one spot to take a second/third round talent at QB... considering everything else they need.

According to Pro Football Focus, we finished as a top 15 unit. We were dead last defensively. So no....

Zach Miller, Eddie Royal, Kevin White, Marcus Wheaton, Kendall Wright, Cameron Meradeth. In what world is this an immediate need over defense?

My ass.

I can see you're quite passionate about your team.

I had a few points to make, and I'm only speculating what I think their thought process is right now, but at the risk of agitating you further I'm going to walk away. I really have nothing vested in the Chicago Bears and their draft.

Had not heard anything about this previously...have any of you?

It's been talked about on and off for months... once chi reached the theory was this would be a thing again. I still think that the Browns were never as in on any QB as it was made out...

Today, it seems pretty idiotic. Could turn out to be the case in the end. I guess we'll see.

They didn't go nuke RG3

Schefter started this rumor last night on Twitter. This lady squashed it.

Agree with everything. Well said!

To the bolded: I actually started a conversation with my buddies about who I should switch to. Honestly, I love the Bears, but I can't support a front office like this. I don't care for many other teams, but I could root for the Cowboys (I can't wait to see Jaylon play) and I've always had a thing for the 49ers. Pretty much any other team, I'm 'meh' about.

I will forever hate the Cowboys. Any reference to "America's Team" in any sport makes me want to puke. It would be like becoming a Yankees fan. Love their players and the ND success on the team, like what they have built but I can never support that franchise.

Anyone making excuses that Mitchell should "get a chance" etc. can pound sand. There is no sugar coating this move as anything but pure stupidity from a value and need perspective - especially when you look at next year's QB crop. This draft lined up well to totally load the Bears defense and they just had to take what was there. Instead they jail sexed themselves. They have a three year Band-Aid in Glennon - they should have been waiting for next year where Mitchell would have half a dozen QBs picked ahead of him.

Saying "they got there guy" is no endorsement either. It is a further proof that they are beyond hopeless if 1) they think he is that great and 2) don't realize nobody else shares that opinion and are dumb enough to bid against themselves and 3) don't have the common sense to realize the depth and breadth of your own needs. Multifactor f-up that is completely inexcusable - I'm done with them.

Browns bout to go full dawg pound in coming years, the great famine is coming to an end.... it's now or never for this bandwagon. Once the winning comes anyone not already on the guest list is not gettin added.... ;)

Ahh... the ol "make the other guy out to be angry to sidestep the fact that you don't know what you're talking about" schtick.

Classic move

I apologize. I'm not trying to be a jerk off. I felt like I really set you off over something I don't really feel all that strongly about. I guess we'll see what they do the rest of the way. I bet you're right. They'll go defense, as that's what most predicted they'd do.

I honestly don't understand why they did what they did and I'm speculating where they go from here. Purely speculating. Merely trying to put some perspective to it.

I'm moving on. Hope you enjoy your weekend.

Just read this is the second year in a row the Bears have traded up in the first round. I can see how that might be frustrating when they appear to have so many needs. You'd think trading down would make the most sense.

If Ryan Pace is as dumb as everyone says, and if they need defense as bad as some people think, I'm wondering why it's so far fetched to think he won't focus on offense the rest of the draft?

Guess we'll know soon enough.

Tonight the Browns trade a 2nd this year and one of their first rounders in next years draft for Garropollo.

Don't worry about it. You're arguing with the winner of 4 straight "IE Interent Tough Guy of The Year" awards. That would be like trying to beat Wiz in a Disney triva contest, just not gonna happen.

Great move by Kansas City, jumping up to grab Mahomes. QBs should be developed over time and he has two years to sit and learn with Andy Reid and behind Alex Smith to become a NFL QB. This is not Chicago with Trubisky, Tennessee or Philadelphia trading up last year. Mahomes has a huge arm and the Chiefs don't have to throw him into the fire when he is not ready. They give up a third rounder but still have their compensatory pick in the third round fourteen spots later and eight remaining picks. They are a playoff team that needs only to fill holes for depth and the future without glaring needs. So they sacrificed a first rounded next year a la NE. Good move by the Bills, too, to get more picks. Perfect partnering. And NO is ecstatic to get Lattimore. The Chiefs can hit free agency to sign some ready to play now players. And with those eight remaining picks can move up again with another team needing more picks for LB or CB or let the draft come to them, pick players who need some development and will contribute on a rotational basis and/or special teams this year and move into starting positions next year. KC fanbase and front office were very happy. Were waiting for Peterman, Kaaya, Kizer or Webb a better move? I don't think so.

Were almost all the trades for QBs? Good moves by Cleveland and SF to wait. How many picks did they pile up?

that would be grand and all if the kid's skill set fitted with what KC does

Ian Rappaport saying Green Bay to take Kizer with first pick in 2nd round...I don't know how to link it.

They won't win the Super Bowl with Alex Smith-type QBs. Cousins will be expensive. Any QB next year will need some development too. They needed someone who could stretch the field. Mahomes has an arm that rivals few in the NFL. Sitting at 27 would have given them a third or fourth ranked LB, or a CB. Would Cook have been there? Foster slid down but who could have predicted that.

5 reasons Patrick Mahomes just walked into a perfect situation with the Chiefs

I'm betting they are putting this out to get trade interest for that pick... They have way too many holes

The Ravens did. So did the Bucs, Broncos (in Manning's final year), etc. It's entirely possible for them to do so. Only thing really stopping them right now is the Pats and Steelers offenses IMO.
