I broke my foot so here I am on a Saturday, bumping threads.

Here's some senior film. If this guy's not football-faster than GAIII, then I'm Ben Aflak's chin.

Definitely better burst, more natural RB agility. He just runs a bit high and doesn't always seem to know how to run through contact, similar to GAIII. However, plenty of time for that to get corrected/improve.

OK then you're a chin. Have you ever seen Atkinson's HS highlights? Smokes people. And when he had open running lanes at ND he was incredibly explosive. His big problem is that he couldn't cut without losing speed. That's one thing Williams has him beat by a mile on... his explosion/acceleration when cuts upfield.

But that lane at the 1:15 mark! I think my double amputee father could have scored with that type opening.

Straight line speed just doesn't happen at RB, though. I should have used better wording, my bad Lax. Dexter gets from A to B to C to D faster than GAIII all day.

And no, I wish. Going in for a layup and got fouled. I missed the layup. It was a bad day.

Kid has some speed for sure and can be somewhat elusive, I wonder if he can take a hit though. Almost all those highlights he's going untouched into the endzone. That's certainly not a bad thing, but GAIII couldn't take a hit at the college level to save his life, and you're going to take hits at the next level. Can Williams take a hit and get a few extra yards afterwards? That's what I'd be interested in seeing.

I'm with Koon. Dexter's film (and this is just a small portion of it, his Hudl film shows a lot more) beats GAIII's by a mile. I didn't see GAIII hit the hole with fury one time. For the most part, he'd make a move or two and wiggle out of the pile. Flex just barrels in there with reckless abandon. Like it's been mentioned, Flex's ability to cut and explode is vastly superior to GAIII and considering the kind of back Flex is and GAIII was, that's a pretty big deal. It's yet to be determined what Flex looks like when he takes a hit, but I'm sure he'll be fine. He's not necessarily a light-weight out there.

ok took a look at his tapes....am I koolaiding it if I see a "todd gurley in HS" comp here?

Actually, when I watched Gurley's HS tape, I see more of a comparison to Josh Adams believe it or not. Gurley wasn't the all-around juggernaut RB he was at Georgia while in Tarboro. He was rather lanky and relied on getting around people with his cutting ability. We can only hope against all hope that Josh develops in a Gurley-type back and puts on 20 pounds. Anything can happen I suppose.

I said this in one thread, but I see a poor man's Derrick Henry. Big, fast, downhill everytime. I hope he gets to 225.

he looks much more natural in his senior film than in his junior film. I'm much more confident

Really need Adams to grow into a power back for short yardage. If not him then I don't know maybe Luatua can be like a fullback.

I have a friend in Florida who knows him pretty well, says he's definitely committed to ND and is just waiting until signing day to announce.

Typical Florida recruiting with a couple days left to go. Dexter Williams will be signing with Notre Dame.

I have no inside information and I am just speculating, but it sounds like Miami is asking Williams if he has or is planning to commit to Notre Dame. They don't want to end the recruiting season with an unfilled spot so are probably asking for clarification so they can move forward and look for someone else. It sounds like more of a "Let us know what you are thinking." or "Give us a good reason to hold a spot for you."

Last day commitments like this always leave one or more teams with an unfilled spot. No one likes to be left holding the bag.

You should read II right now. You would think the Gug is on fire, I found this stat very interesting and a little alarming.

If we sign ESB, the 2014 and 2015 classes will have...

10 WR/TE's

1 RB

Why assume ESB but not Williams? Add in Flex, and we're right on target. For a team that bases out of 11 personnel, you'd expect 1 RB, 3 WRs, and 1 TE per cycle. So 10 WR/TEs and 2 RBs isn't far off.

That seems a little high. Wouldn't the target be more like 2.5 a cycle. Otherwise in a four year period you are taking 12 WR. That is about 1/7 of the total scholarship number, and that isn't even including 5th years. I would think that the number that that we should be shooting for is more like 10 on the roster. Taking the 3 per cycle isn't horrible though if you are taking more ATH types who could switch to CB or S if needed (but outside of maybe Brent in the last two cycles, most of our WR have been strictly WR, not WR/ATH).

Though going back to GB's numbers who are the 10. I am only coming up with 8 besides EB.
Holmes
Brent
Luatua
Weishar
Boykin
Guyton
Jones
Sanders

Then EB.

Mahone kinda fucked us. Don't think you can blame that on kelly.

Mahone was playing slot WR.

Whiskey I see what you mean and I just copy and pasted what someone pointed out originally. Your point is correct

he still could provide RB depth if we swung and missed on another this year. So he still would count as RB in that scenario.

However, looks like we are adding Dexter atm so its all moot discussion.
