Couldn't Amir switch back to RB if needed? I see what you are saying with Mahone though but he seemed to never get on track at ND

You should read II right now. You would think the Gug is on fire, I found this stat very interesting and a little alarming.

If we sign ESB, the 2014 and 2015 classes will have...

10 WR/TE's

1 RB

That seems like it properly represents Kelly's usage of the run game. Last resort.

Loy is squashing pretty hard the rumor that Dexter wants a commitable offer from Miami. He spoke to a source as close as you can get to Dexter who said he's frustrated his words got twisted like that. Still very confident he ends up at ND. His relationship with Alford is "special and different from the rest."

Southern writers are just a total joke. Like the LSU guy pre-Music City Bowl who ran an entire article about how Sheldon Day wanted to go to LSU based off of one laughably twisted quote about why Day never visited LSU.

Then there was the Bama writer who got all high and mighty about Auburn pursuing a woman beater who got kicked out of Georgia... only to months later have that player end up at Bama.

As bad as some guys are in the Midwest, the only one I've ever had a real problem with twisting things is Lorenz. That guy sucks so bad. Keurlic is a dweeby in how seriously he takes himself, but meh. Southern (and west coast, too) writers just hatchet job kids quotes to fit whatever premise they want to write towards.

I feel like the way this staff is willing to plug guys into different roles, the positions guys are considered to play coming out of high school are not terribly significant. Just because we only sign one RB in a two-class cycle doesn't mean only one of those guys will play RB in their time at ND. The staff certainly doesn't feel bound by what position a guy played in HS or is listed as by recruiting services.

I know it hurts, but gotta think about how different the RB picture would look if Hood stayed on board.

Yep. The Keivarae Russell thread has him listed as a running back, and now he is going to be one of the best corners in the country next year. Kelly can find running backs on this roster.

True. Though we tend to pull more guys out of traditional RB roles (Russell, Carlisle, Mahone) than into them (did GAIII switch from receiver?).

GAIII was going to be a receiver, until the staff realized he had stone hands.

Can always put Brent at RB in a pinch. Would hate to see that happen, but it's an option.

I think if we had to draft a receiver, I'd go with Carlisle or Prosise first.

Why though? It's not as if anyone other than those two have established themselves at slot. We have a lot of quality depth (which I hope Brent rises to the top of personall) at the boundary WR positions. Plus Brent played RB his entire senior season, no? That would give him more recent experience than the other two.

I think outside of Mahone, all of them were all-purpose backs, not traditional backs, but I see your point.

Woahhhh. The kid can run. My man #1rish can attest to that from my high school days.

Haha, I'll believe you. I was basing my numbers off the token white boy running back comment. If it's the token white boy running back, "he's slow and shouldn't be taking carries away from Greg Bryant."

I'm a token white boy who would be afraid to take oxygen in the general vicinity of Greg Bryant away from him haha.
