I fail to see how beating Akron in the Middle of Bum**** Nowhere Bowl will give Everett Golson "momentum".
Like the momentum of losing to Florida State in the Citrus Bowl gave us to go 12-0? Or how Bama losing to Florida and Utah at the end of 2008 gave them the momentum to go win the national championship the next year?

better than losing to akron in the middle of bum**** nowhere bowl
He said 2014 off-season. So things like recruiting. We re-landed Tuitt and Lynch after the Sun Bowl win, while also getting Nick Martin (starting center), Ishaq Williams (not a starter, but gets a lot of PT), Chase Hounshell (would be playing a lot if he wasn't injured), and Troy Niklas (starting TE).
I'm not saying that bowl win is the main reason why we got these guys, but it definitely gave us a lot of recruiting momentum
Getting smoked in a BCS Bowl didn't stop us from getting guys like Matt Romine, Robert Hughes, and Sam Young back under Weis, all of whom were top 75 recruits. Playing in the Sugar Bowl shows that last year wasn't an entire fluke.
recruits becomes stars doesn't disprove the fact that there's a strong correlation between highly rated recruiting classes and on-field success. Similarly, just because we've gotten some big recruits who visited during losses or committed after tough seasons doesn't disprove the importance of momentum heading into the off-season.One of the most frustrating (or entertaining, depending how you look at it) aspects of the bowl system is you never know what team will show up 3-4 weeks (sometimes more) after their last game. It's so unpredictable. Some teams look better (Alabama) while others look worse (Notre Dame).
For that reason, we should always want to reach the highest bowl possible. As Irishbounty said, talent isn't an issue. We can play with anyone in the country on any given day. We could reach the Sugar Bowl and beat down a SEC team that everyone is scared of right now (ala Louisville last year). We could also go to the Pinstripe Bowl and run into a buzz saw in a Rutgers team that plays their best game of the season. Going to a lesser bowl does not guarantee victory in the same way going to a BCS does not guarantee an embarrassing defeat as many Irish fans are predicting.
Bottom line, performance through the first six weeks of the season is a very poor indicator of how a team will perform after New Years, and, frankly, performance through the regular season is also often a poor indicator of how a team will play in a bowl game.
And, honestly, hearing ND fans say they'd rather go to a lesser bowl and look good because they are scared to get beat in a BCS bowl is downright embarrassing. You should be ashamed of yourself for having this defeatist attitude.
Flicking hippy, way don't u go fleck you're self ... Iam a English teaching an eye doesn't even worry bout is.... Your to Grammar nazining
This!!!!! I want us to show up in the biggest game we can. This whole thing isn't turning around until we win one of those games. We can't win them if we aren't in them.
