How well did the Saints do, too? Lattimore and one of the top OTs who will play ROT and move to the left OT spot in the future? Goodbye, Malcolm Butler trade with NE. Or would they still make that trade still or wait to sign him next year? The trade with NE for Cooks looks pretty good for both teams.

Belichick knows he has his heir apparent to the 40 year old Brady, Browns need to move on from this ever happening.

yeah the TE pick was a surprize, be funny as heck if they hadda taken foster

I agree. Was texting with friends and thought that was where they were going. Would have turned a good first round for them into possibily a transformational first round ala Draft Day.

yeah they went from drafting two necessities to then taking a project. it was a strange change of course for them. The TE could be good down the road but they need starters not luxury players

They probably view him as an immediate #2 at TE, and didn't think any other sure-things were available. That increases his value for the Browns in a way that isn't there for many other teams.

Having a true #2 they can count on will open up a lot of their offense, and make things easier on [underwhelming QB] and [underwhelming RB].

It's kind of like the Bengals. John Ross probably isn't worth a #9 to other teams... but for the Bengals, his value is maximized by the other possession-type weapons on the team, and his presence also helps solve problems in the running game.

Bingo.

They can now run 2 TE sets, which is needed with Pryor leaving.

Ha, well there went that reasoning real fast.

Perhaps Barnidge is more run-down than we know, and Njoku was still worth the value to them?

Confirms what many thought, Hue has a very low opinion of GB...

This also tells me they may take another TE at some point this weekend.

There were very few places where any of those QBs could have gone that could have worked, very few,... that could work, very well, very quickly. Considering how we mouth breathers all slurp on QBs, if that works and is the final piece of Houstons puzzle, it will be the pick most remembered, easily, that's where I was coming from. Not so much from a standpoint of, that's the best value or best player etc....

I can agree on the being remembered aspect. I think the pick makes sense, if your obrien for the fact you clearly need a qb for this team, and obviously have screwed the pooch at QB too date since hire. But if I'm upper management I'm no longer following his judgement on QB's. I'm continuing to build this team as they have. I mean the AFC South is generally hot garbage and can be won with 9 wins.

Serious question, is Joe Mixon the better prospect than Dalvin Cook?

I thought Cook was supposed to give Fournette and McCaffrey a run for their money, but I guess he's got off-field red flags that teams aren't sure about (including some that were already proven to be just straight sabotage).

Considering Mixon's BIG red flag, it's surprising to me that Cook is the one sliding, especially since Cook is nearly as good a receiver as Mixon, though less polished running routes.

I think Mixon is a better receiver (especially re: the route Tree) a better inside runner, blocker and is bigger.

Idea in Buffalo is that the Bills made the KC/Mahomes trade so that they have 2 picks next year in the 1st Round to get a 2018 quarterback.

It was a really interesting night. I can't wait for Round 2 tonight because there is a ton of talent on the board and you know the teams have been scheming all day.

See, I thought Cook was considered a pure workhorse, and it just so happened that he has good enough hands to split out and run a go-route and you could trust him to catch the ball. And thus I thought he was well ahead of Mixon as an inside runner, and brought similar (though much less) versatility.

It's just shocking to me that Cook is seemingly in a free-fall, while Mixon and Kamara are probably the first two guys taken in round 2.

I am 99% certain that the Bengals are taking one of them if they're around.

I thought the Raiders might have made a mistake with picking Gareon Conley when Jabril Peppers was still available. Gareon Conley went as a CB, and I guess Peppers went as a Safety; however, I was kinda scratching my head with that pick. That being said, im not saying that Gareon Conley won''t be a good player(im unsure), but to leave Peppers there with his athleticism and versatility and taking Gareon Conley might have been the wrong move.

Cook also has injury and character questions.

Care to share on bolded? I've not read much on Cook.

There is nothing to share, and that's what perplexes me as to why he's dropping.

Some unnamed source said that he has "character and work ethic issues" and cited him not showing up for workouts at the senior bowl, or showing up late and with alcohol on his breath. Those allegations have since been proven false to the point where he could probably seek legal action if they found out who the source was.

I know he got in trouble for a fight at FSU at one point or something, but that's no worse than Joe Mixon punching some chick in the jaw... and yet, it doesn't seem to be hurting Mixon's stock at this point, while Cook keeps falling in the face of accusations proven to be false.

I would disagree with this point. There were reports that Mixon was graded as the best RB in the draft and the only reason he didn't go in the first round was because of his knocking the daylights out of that girl. To add to that, we still don't know how far Mixon will fall. It's been widely reported that many teams have removed him from their draft boards entirely so I'd say it has impacted him.

As for Cook, I believe he was involved in the BB Gun case at FSU where a few players on the team went around shooting out car windows and causing a pretty significant amount of damage, so he's isn't squeaky clean.

As opposed to Mixon?

What Mixon did was horrible and inexcusable, but it appears to be an isolated incident. Cook has been reported to hang around with a less than ideal crowd, there were things that FSU apparently swept under the rug, and he scored "barely above literate" on the wonderlick. Add injury concerns to all that and you can understand why he's dropping. If all of the character concerns were bs I would think other front offices would have figured that out.
