Haha, On a serious note. At first glance, you think. "Low 3*, what is this coming to" Than you take take a look at his film, and he really opens your eyes. Athletic, lays people out. Long Atheistic, whats not to like.

Wait what LOL

I thought the same thing...Must mean he goes after the ball carrier with no thought about consequences.

It's not his fault but that talent that he played against was so bad i got annoyed watching his film.

So an update is that Loy and Wiltfong believe this interest is being drummed up and that he is still planning on visiting Minnesota next weekend. They said that Notre Dame is still evaluating prospects but not to take this too seriously.

I'm sort of dissapointed because I really enjoy this kids film.

I love it. The typical recruits thread that gets the crowd excited and then boom the usual and customary post that deflates the room. McKinley we hardly knew ya'.

I would expect Notre Dame to move to another under the radar safety before this kid. A lot to like about both players, but Whitfield isnt a player to pay attention to

Kinda a shame. I really like his tape. Tulsa got a nice one.

FWIW, Loy and Wiltfong are saying the same as TP. There isn't much here at this time.

Anyone ever seen TP and Loy in a room at the same time? I didn't think so. Loy is TP just as Finkle is Einhorn.

They are hosting a big recruit this weekend, so I dont see any reason to put another name out there till that completes, esp with them playing the same position.

Are you referring to Reid?

I am clearly in the minority here, but I didn't love his film.

Good athlete and dominates like he should against what appears to be lesser competition. He just comes across as more of a project than anything.

I think Reid and even Farrar are more polished safeties at this point. And with how thin we are at safety, these guys could be thrust into the spotlight at any minute.

I am just hoping we can make a lasting impression on Reid. He would be a major piece to this class.

i think when you miss out on the top guys you gotta role the dice with projects and trust your coaching ability. its a logical offer IMO

I don't think the majority "loves" his film. There is some very obvious stuff you could point out in his film, as with Farrar, and to a lesser degree, with Reid.

No doubt that Whitfield is a project. I just prefer projects who have some size, speed, and passion for the game. Those are the ones with the best chance of working out.

He is just so much bigger than everyone else.

This is where it actually hurts you to be a 3-star with the fan base like ours, everything turns into a negative! The kid is between 6'3" and 6'4". He is, in fact, tall. It's not an optical illusion! I agree that his competition is bad, but he'd look tall in most leagues.

Maybe love was too strong of a word. I just wasn't as excited about his film as others. But, it appears to be a moot point as he will not be a part of this class.

I do agree that if we are going to take a project he is the ideal player - big, fast, versatile. However, ideally we will bring in a more polished second safety this year as there is the very realistic chance that he will be forced to play early.

Irish247 is reporting that even if we miss on all 3 S's currently on the board he's still not a possibility. He doesn't meet the admission requirements and ND isn't going to take a player just to have a body. If there is a spot it likely goes to Jalen Julius (Dexter Williams teammate) and he's expressed wanting to play with Decter if that's the case.

Per Rivals, no longer being recruited by ND. Has a 3.72 GPA but doesn't speak foreign languages so he will not qualify.

McKinley was reportedly upset about this.

Why any guidance counselor in HS would advise a student to avoid a foreign language is completely ridiculous and should be fired .. Any student who ignores the advice of a guidance counselor regarding completing foreign language credits, doesn't deserve a ND scholarship anyways

You're saying a very academically oriented kid who may or may not have been advised to take a foreign language course (which were a joke when I was in school) doesn't deserve an ND offer? I get admissions requirements, but this kid didn't know ND was an option until very recently. I'm sure if ND would have made a move earlier in the year he would have no problem passing a foreign language course. They make cases for kids who are borderline students several times per year - this kid is a good student but doesn't have a foreign language. I just have a problem with the fact that they are seemingly able to take kids with a lower GPA/test score as opposed to a kid that may not have taken Spanish.

I just don't understand how a foreign language is not a mandatory part of any high school curriculum.

Yea, I mean totally remember all of the Spanish I learned in 2 years....it was so worth it for 2 years. I think I remember a few prayers, some numbers and any of the curse words I learned.......it really was a great use of 2 years in HS.
