Don't let it get to you Vancouver...just think about the young DBs that will be on display the first few weeks...cause after these events there's a good chance we're gonna see 5 true freshman and 1 gold shirt in the secondary getting valuable minutes.

If ND van couver needs life advice, this is the Last place to get it. Too many Couch wanna bees here judging others because they have nothing else to do.

ND van cover, I love your passion. Get drunk and be somebody. Go irish.

Come on koon, don't troll.

The "coach wanna be" who has nothing else to do but post 247 and has started multiple life advice threads..I mean come on hahah

This site and all the people grilling me for being too jacked up about ND is really bumming me out. Taking a break for a while. Sorry for over posting NDinLA.

WTH? Dude, you mocked a guy because he didn't post that much, and ignored his very valid point. Post all you want, but: A. don't mock a guy bc he doesn't post much, and B. don't be shocked when you say over-the-top things and people debate them with you. It's a message board, not a knitting circle of yes-men.

It's not about the points you're *trying* to make.

It's about your general tone and style that is much more thinly veiled, lately. And as Lucky said, it's not a discussion. Just letting you know that the mods (and the communtiy) can see it.

Are you threatening me? I don't speak passive aggressive so I can't tell if that's what this is or not.

If you don't like my options, I'll live. If you're threatening me to a ban for them, then I need to adjust.

In fairness, you used to be emotionally invested big-time. Many of us have been or are currently still. It's good that you've grown up though.

In fairness, no I didn't and I don't think your in a position to know my emotions.

Did I have a strong opinion on what a recruit should/shouldn't do? Absolutely. Very strong.

But I could care less after 5 secs about a ND football recruit or player decisions. Their lives not mine.

It's not about your opinions. I disagree with people on this site all the time because of their opinions. That's not an issue.

Read the post that you quoted one more time. It's about HOW and WHY you express various opinions. Everyone can see through your recent shock-jock shtick. You haven't hidden it very well, and I don't even think you're trying to at this point. It reaks of trolling.

To add, this is a unanimous feeling amongst the mods, not just Irishlion. But it is also your peers. I have personally received numerous PM's and reps about the trolling posts, and to be honest, I've never received more about a specific poster.

I love lurking on this site and I probably have an unhealthy addiction to it, however I'm ready for all this to be dropped. I get that the focus five are a big deal and I appreciated the football related discussion, but this is the fall camp thread. Can we please get over the bickering and non football posts so I can get back to lurking in comfort? :) that being said, I really do enjoy all of your football perspective very much. So thanks for that.

Oh, this will all get merged to appropriate threads when I can get to a desktop.

I learned from Cackalacky to never do mod things from a phone.

Miss you, Cack.

Thanks Lion. You the man. I appreciate the time you guys spend to wade through this stuff and sort it out. That being said, anybody know who is next on the FS depth chart behind DS?

Studstill

Yeah, but who's behind HIM?

Does Fertitta go from SS #3 to FS #2?

Or does a freshman DB step up? One of the corners could cross-train, or perhaps someone we haven't heard much about gets thrown to the fire on the 2-deep (DJ Morgan?).

I've heard he is a major liability, worse than the true freshman. Plus seems a little slow to be a FS, perhaps why he is a liability.

People were saying that earlier in the week, but towards the end of the week it was being reported that he was playing better or adequate. I imagine he wouldn't have been brought back if he was a liability.

I'd say Elliot, if it comes to that. He's got CB skills, at S.

Ah yes. I always forget about Elliot.

Is Morgan still projecting to be a LB some day? I feel like I haven't heard a peep about him from practice reports, even those that focus on frosh.

He is a liability IMO. Very slow but I was just answering the question on who it could be. The only other safety I know of is Spencer Perry and heard he has not looked good either so figured it would be the 5th year. Personally I like the idea of Elliott or even Pride moving over.

I don't think that there is a lot going on at SS behind Tranquill at this time. From what I've gathered Sebastian has been down right bad. Perry looks athletic but doesn't have much of a clue yet. So I'd bet that they leave Morgan at S for now. I also think that some of the SS role is, essentially, what you'd ask of a LB.

Yeah, he can only play the SS. Big hitter, but too small and slow to play the free. He gets burned consistently when he goes against slot receivers in practice. The player who could have played both spots (albeit badly) was Redfield. Now that he's probably out, we're in a major bind should Studstill get hurt.

On the bright side, I ran into Todd Lyght about 2 weeks ago (to borrow a line from Donal Trump - "great guy") and when I asked him about Studstill, the first words he said was "Sunday player". They LOVE him, so at least we have a kid with some serious talent. I think instead of seeing Redfield getting burned time and time again, we'll see a freshman getting burned, but he'll actually learn from his mistakes and we won't see the same mistakes later in the season. That's my guess anyway.

I think Elliott was recruited as a FS, not sure how he has been playing so far though

He was considered by the staff originally as a SS. But has been playing (some) FS.

Here is what Kelly said :

“Jalen Elliott competed like no player that I have seen since I’ve been coaching in a camp setting, and that’s over 25 years. His competitive spirit was unmatched,” Kelly said. “It was unparalleled in terms of I can’t remember a guy — maybe there was one guy that competed on the offensive line for me at Cincinnati in a camp that was similar, but this kid competed at every position at such a level that he was a can’t-miss guy for us in the recruiting process.”

(I stole it from Keith Arnold, upon a friends advice.)

From what I have heard he is having some freshman issues, but coming along. Anyone know more?

NDinLA, What did Todd say about Jalen?

Could it be Avery Sebastion or is he a SS?

He might be 7th on the depth chart behind every freshman. He is a MAJOR liability in pass coverage. I could see him playing against Stanford or box teams but he will not be playing safety at a regular rate.
