Is it too late for a grad transfer to come play for us?
If I'm getting recruited by ND as a safety the playing time sure looks available.
I wonder when we'll go through a whole offseason without some huge incident.

Wouldn't it be nice if Justin Brent was a FS right now rather than a pointless 5th string RB.
Crazy idea. Shaun Crawford is supposed to have good football smarts, tackles well and can cover the slot. Anyway he moves to safety. Would be like Bob Sanders there.
Coleman and Watkins would be on the outside. Maybe Studstill or Love play the nickel...

I know this is pretty simplistic, but none of Notre Dame's opponents were top 25 passing offenses last year. Hell only three of them were top 50. Granted, Ohio State's passing game came in at #100, so it's deceiving...but which of these passing attacks really scare you? Southern Cal and Miami, but they're both in the second half of the season.
Sure Texas brought in a spread OC, and Syracuse's coach, Dino Babers, is a spread offense guru (#5 passing attack last year at BGSU), as is Virginia Tech's Justin Fuente (#18 passing attack at Memphis)...but this isn't the Big XII, they can play and win with a freshman at FS.
I guess I'm just saying there's a decent chance this works out like 2012, when the green secondary was bailed out by the schedule. Yeah, they had an unreal front seven, but 2012 didn't have an offense like this one.
I don't disagree but we need a body or two and some sort of veteran presence. Last thing I want is a freshman playing back there on 4th and 8 when we are up 4 on Texas with less than a minute to go. Strong, D'Antonio and other coaches we face are too good not to call a play in those situations that will exploit the freshman.
Yeah I think the Navy game just got more interesting. It's nice to have guys watch film and go through the process of preparing for Navy before they're actually starters.
I think it was announced that he's the backup nickel. What is Love playing?
Coaches typically don't cross train freshman until they have a good grasp of their current position.
Doubt that's the case for any of the freshman DB's right now. Now, due to depth maybe its going to happen out of necessity but that doesn't mean its a good thing.
Id rather have someone be good at 1 position than average or worse at two.
Still think they should/should have moved Brent to safety.

I agree about cross training freshman but some freshman are just special. Like Studstill and Crawford from all reports. Desperate times, my man. Our FS depth looks like something from the replacements. I'm waiting to see a practice clip where one of our backup FS's have a cig hanging out of their face masks.

crawford is a sophmore. and hasnt BK already stated they like him closer to LOS? Sounds like FS might not fit his skillset.
