Most improved
Alex Bars (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) was a player who had a rough first day, but the Notre Dame verbal performed better on Day 2. We have never doubted his ability to be a good pass protector as he possesses the physical tools, but the difference Monday was he consistently executed with better technique and as a result was able to be more successful.

Making a name for themselves

WR Corey Holmes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas): He has quietly made a ton of plays in traffic and is much faster than defensive backs give him credit for.

Smith has short arms. Now Bars is a serious project.

Both will be heard for a long time.

Remember when Elmer was seriously over-rated during the period when he was not attending camps?

I am beginning to believe anyone offering an expert opinion is subject to that - offering an "expert" opinion is an invitation to look like an idiot, and human nature is knocking at the door willing to seal the deal.

(Not like the whole point of football is to walk right over someone who isn't going to let you; so someone has to be proved wrong on every play, or anything!)

Yeah, the Bars updates have been reminding me of Elmer. Not was Steve not attending camps, but the ones he went to he was supposedly out of shape and getting beat on the 1 on 1's that are always tough for the OL. Hopefully Bars' situation ends up like Elmer's did. I am not really worried about him. Excited he is Irish!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think anyone said he has short arms. I thought I read the exact opposite today

it has been reported that he doesn't have long arms to play tackle at the next level--this has been the knock against him....and now all of a sudden, he has long arms but short legs...

Cornerbacks Tony Brown (Beaumont, Texas/Ozen), Kalvaraz Bessent (Kingsland, Ga./Camden County), Nick Watkins (Dallas/Bishop Dunne) and Peppers can lock up and keep pace with every receiver on the roster, which has created terrific one-on-one battles.

Was this from ESPN? Loy was saying that Watkins was hanging with most receivers except the elite ones....

Assuming that Nyles picks us. Will that be our first big time recruit that picks us at an all star game? I know we have had big time recruits pick us at hat dances, etc... but I cant seem to remember any All Star game appearances.

Seems like Nyles is one of the biggest announcements at the game (maybe only surpassed by Fournette), so it would be really cool to have him pick Notre Dame as a bunch of our current commits are ripping up the game itself.

I just read that McKenzie wants to be at ND and will retake test to improve his scores in Jan. He wants to be part of the 2014 ND class and is willing to exhaust all his time and effort to do so.

I love the kids that want to be at ND and I hope he improves his test scores and reaches his dream!

This should probably be in McKenzie's thread(s), but I would add to this how rare it is to have a kid fight for his opportunity to join this team.

Most kids are like Elam, who when the coaches say that "they will go to bat for him" decides that he would prefer an easier route.

Anyone notice the massive wingspan of a few of our recruits? Nyles and Yeargin are both over 6'7", and Quinton Nelson measured at a record 6'10". Is BK only recruiting guys that have the potential to fly? He must wish he was coaching the Eagles.

I am officially a fan of this kid for life. I don't care if he enrolls at SC, I'm going to root for him.

6'10 is not a record by the way, I don't know why Terry tweeted that. There are at least 4 guys there with bigger ones.

It was the record at the time. It just happens those four broke it after Nelson. Crazy to think that before this year, no one had 6'10 wingspan, and now 5 people broke it.

Mone is a total punk. He's been clubbing people in the helmet or going with violent hands to the face all week. Every single time it would be a 15 yard penalty. Announcers on TV even laughed about it saying "uhh... like the intensity... but you can't do that haha"

I have no doubt why it's getting "chippy."

CB Tony Brown just got hurt and could be done for the week (arm in sling) which might give Watkins a chance to move from the 2s to the 1s
