The crazy thing is how many elite DL we are LEADING or in the top couple for... in a year where we are only going to have at most 20 slots or so.

I expect Trumbetti to be next, shortly following his planned visit in the next couple weeks or so.

But then we are also right up there for McDowell, Enoch Smith, etc. and have Hayes on board... this could be an utterly incredible haul.
-----
WR/LB are also interesting... do we regret taking Brent and Martini? Because there are a lot of guys at both positions that want in but with limited spots we're going to have to be very picky.

One does not regret taking a Martini.

I think Brent and Martini are both good gets. Martini right now is a top 200 guy on 247. Even if he falls from there, which is likely due to his early comittment, I am not worried. He comes from a great school and we are going to know what we are getting from him. Besides, he is the type of kid that might not be a top 50 player, but having his committment will allow you to be much pickier moving forward.

For Brent, he has great size and reminds me of David Givens. Like Greer, he gives you a great starting foundation and allows you to be more selective.

They way I look at it is that it is unlikely ND will have a USC 2012 type class where you have 90% of your players being elite talent. I would like to think it is possible, but realize that great glasses all have a mixture of elite talent and core players that could perform like elite talent. I look at Martini and Brent as both being guys that could be coached up and make it to the NFL. Just my $.02.

I don't think there is any regret with those two. Brent is an in state stud and Martini is a pipeline kid with lots of potential. Personally I loved his tape and think he will be a three year starter. As for Brent I will call it now, will be 3 times as productive as the 2 in-state receivers on the roster right now. Even though their stats aren't huge they have been very clutch all year so this is not a put down as much as it is praise for what I think Brent will become!

What's the deal with Smith? Rivals, Scout, 24/7 all have JR. watch lists and he's nowhere to be found. Trumbetti is only highly regarded by Scout. Deondre Clark is a guy I'd love to get out of Oklahoma. Stud DL.

The lists will change several more times before next signing day. The problem is all these sites are competing and trying to get an edge on each other that they are putting lists out way to early. A top 100 list IMO should not be released until after the spring evaluation period of the Sr class, but money drives the sites to put out the rankings and draw in members. Still fun to see what they think but it's all a little premature if you ask me.

Don't forget Andrew Williams, the DE from Rochelle's school who visited ND with Rochelle and plans to do so again in January. Think he had something like 20+ sacks last year.

Yes I saw your reply...I understand what you are saying that his Bro is at Bama.
Luatua’s brother is at Bama now, they are the clear favorites from what I’ve read.

And yes I am excited ... is there a reason not to be excited to get such a shot at such a great/talented kid?

I'm excited that your excited!
Maybe we will get the opportunity to impress him even more if it ends up being Bama on the 7th. Either way it's early and a lot of things can happen over a year.

Trumbetti is visiting this weekend?

No sir, after tomorrow is referencing Byrne committing. I think Trumbetti will be the next to commit after Byrne. I'm just not sure when Trumbetti is visiting so it may be awhile. Sorry for any confusion.

I don' t know, I think it is gonna be Andrew.

(Someone complained about using recruits or players initials. I know how much more difficult and time consuming it is but using the firstn and lastn at the beginning of a cycle would help us neophytes. After all I have only been on here for a couple weeks.)
