Really? Because Aaron Taylor and Tim Ruddy were in the same draft, and both of them had pretty stellar careers.

I gave up on this discussion when I found out I'm arguing with someone who can't find a "fulltime" job.

4th straight yr with record number underclassmen declaring for draft. It's a problem for college football and it's not good for NFL either.

For those agents/media members selling "2nd contract" to these young men, what say you to the 36 of 98 underclassmen not drafted?

and FYI: 44% of 194 underclassmen that declared early from last 3 drafts were not on NFL rosters at end of 2013 season.

2014 NFL draft -- Texas Longhorns have zero players drafted - ESPN

I keep getting internal server error when I try posting the whole article.

The highlights:

- Jeffcoat was an All-American and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. He also won the Ted Hendriks award for the nation's top DE. He went undrafted and signed with Seattle.

- Notre Dame now has the longest streak (77 years) of at least one player drafted. We were previously tied with Texas.

- Illinois, Northwestern and Kansas join Texas as the only four schools from "power 5 conferences" to not have a player drafted.

2015 NFL Draft

2015 NFL Draft

While enjoying the fact we had eight players drafted, the 2nd most of any school (FSU with 9), I looked ahead to our prospects for next year's class and it certainly won't be as plentiful.

Of the players running out of eligibility, I only see Koyack and Ishaq as potential draft picks. I don't see Cam getting drafted, but I guess there's a small chance. Same with Brindza. Koyack is really the only "sure-fire" pick in next year's draft.

Of the players with a 5th year option, I think Daniels opts for the draft. The others will either accept invitations to come back, go to another school for their 5th year, or find a team as an UDFA. Martin and Golson would be the only ones with a real "NFL" decision to make, but I think both come back. Daniels is probably a 3rd day draft pick (rounds 4 to 7), like TJ.

Of the underclassmen eligible for the draft, KVR is the only one with a real decision to make. He could be a potential 1st-2nd rounder, but I think he comes back.

So, the 2015 NFL Draft will not be as kind to our beloved Irish, but we should be better on the field in 2014 than we were in 2013.

Lombard and Riggs each have a chance. Day will probably consider it too but come back. I could see about 5 guys being drafted but likely 3 or 4.

Totally forgot about those guys. Lombard definitely has a chance. Probably another 3rd day pick. I'd like to think Riggs does as well but we'll see how he plays this year.

Get his degree. Be part of our magical 2015 season. He just seems like the type of guy that would return. I really don't know, just a gut feeling I guess.

I hope you are right, he just has it. Could be a special two year run ahead of him.

I forgot about Lombard also lol. He will be 4th or 5th rounder. I do think Ishaq is a lock to get drafted next year barring a catastrophe. Ishaq was considered a 5th round pick if he came out this year, I could see him moving to a day 2 pick by next year.

Really? I didn't realize he was regarded that highly this year. He definitely has the size/speed that will make NFL GMs drool at the combine. If he can prove to be a reliable pass rusher I could also see day 2 potential, but he'll have to show it on the field. Obviously, I hope that happens.

Yeah that's the thing with him is he has the height weight speed desired. Also this pass year he showed good strength in his bull rush.

I don't think he would have gotten drafted this year. Look at all the guys that didn't get drafted who had much more production than Ishaq and all the guys that slid way below where they were projected. But if he has a solid senior year then I think he could earn himself a late round pick next year. If he comes out and kills it then maybe a 2nd or 3rd round. I don't think he could play himself into a 1st round, GM's want to see more than 1 year out of a player before they give them 1st round dollars.

Make those TX recruits go

There are a few players picked every year in the 1st round who only had 1 great year (even a few that didn't seem to have any great years in college but have great workouts, I am looking at you Dion Jordan). Cam Newton, Dion Jordan, and from this years draft Eric Ebron, Odell, Beckham, Dee Ford, Kelvin Benjamin, and possibly Greg Robinson. A lot of players get drafted off of potential and one great year.

I would bet a lot of money that he already has spoken to recruits about this or will do so very shortly. The draft was a very marketable situation for ND.

I'm not sure dissing Texas will be a recruiting boon for ND at all. While the school may not have had any draft picks, the coach at the school had 3 1st Rounders. Pretty easy for him to counter any naysayers on that front.

Max Bullough - UDFA signed to Houston. They didn't draft an LB but they picked up a pretty good one as a free agent. Above average chance of making the team IMO.

Clowney, Nix, Watt, Cushing and Bullough... There's a lot to like there...

The Bears picked up Jordan Lynch and Christian Jones.

They damn near did better in the UNDFA market than they did in the actual draft. ha

Remember when Burfict went UDFA in 2012? Teams are super stupid sometimes. When the Redskins passed on Skov/Bullough/Bailey/really all of those guys in the 7th in favor of a KICKER I was beyond pissed off.

Dustin Vaughan of West Texas A & M signed Free Agent deal with Dallas. After you watch this promo video, you will see why. It's classic.

Seriously, it boggles my mind that so many of these absolute stud college ILB's go undrafted. Bullough was IMO the second best defender on that MSU squad (after Dennard, a 1st rounder). Of the downright scary LB corp of Stanford over the past 2 years including Chase Thomas, Skov, and Trent Murphy, Murphy was the only one that got drafted.

I don't get it.
