Oh, boy...It still sounded a lil different to me than the VMs on the Couric interview. Maybe I'm just being hopeful. :\

It sounded different to me too...

...why can't people see him when he's recording...come on now...thats just asking for questions...how do I know it was him...it was done to drag this sh!t out...

Sounded close enough to me. I'm sure there was a certain amount of stress on him doing it for national television which would explain some variation and I think it was 3 experts analyzed it and confirmed it was the same. I don't blame him for wanting to do it behind a privacy screen. It was going to be "weird" for him to replicate it no matter what, it just felt a little "less weird" not having a camera on him while he did it.

Ronaiah molested as a kid. This really explains a lot and I really feel bad for the guy. Te'o is going to be fine while this guy has a lot to live with.

This could be true, but given how much this kid has lied already, it could be just a way of deflecting some of the heat.

Harder to be angry at someone who was molested. Feel bad for him if true. I hope it's not just another lie.

Raped as a child. I definitely believe him because it explains how he created "Lennay" to escape his own life. I don't think he had any ill intent towards Manti, he's just a severely damaged person.

So, now we have Dr. Phil claiming that three experts reviewed the tapes and claim its RT.

But earlier you had the NYT claiming that a relative admitted that it was RTs cousin on the phone not to mention audio experts concluding that:

"Forensic audio expert Paul Ginsberg told ABC News, "It's the pitch, it's the frequency range, it's the intonation. I don't believe that a male could simulate that."

Not to mention this from SBT after having watched the Dr. Phil interview:

McGraw then told Tuiasosopo that he contacted private contractors that do voice work for the FBI and the Secret Service.

"I gave them that voice mail," McGraw said. "And I gave them your voice. And I had them do a highly scientific spectra analysis of our voice and score them both. They looked at everything from voice intonation to tonal qualities."

The voices are scored on a scale from 0 to 100, with anything 60 and above constituting a match. Tuiasosopo's voice scored a 16 in the analysis.

"They said the chance that you were the person on that voicemail is like 1 in 10 million," McGraw said, "that it is not you, not even possible."

Pardon me if I don't jump at the latest 'developments' that they are now him especially if Dr. Phil essentially now saying that the FBI/Secret Service audio experts are wrong. They went through so much to set RT up in a comfortable position that I have my doubts.

I also remember an article from a few days ago saying that RT was adamant about taking the fall himself and not dragging anyone else with him. (Report: Voice Of Te’o’s Fake Girlfriend Was Not A Man « CBS Chicago)

IMO, creating drama where there is none.

Well, now that this story has run the gambit of idiotic reporters and stupid TV shows maybe it will get up, wipe itself clean and move on because the whole thing is asinine.

I don't any longer think this is or was a stupid story. If you watch today's segment, then you understand the whole story. If you cannot understand, then to heck with you. I mean it. After watching this I think that Manti, who has always looked for signs from God, and who always wanted to help kids, could make sexually abused children a cause of his. Talk about powerful. In our society one out of three girls and one out of four boys boys has been abused. It is not about sex for the perpetrator, it is about power and control. But for the poor victim who do not get the help they need, it is about a life of hell, hell on earth. You often see these kind of issues, the whole nonsense of it speaks to the authenticity of the whole story. People are damned to these kind of outcomes and it doesn't need to be this way.

OK, I do not wish to get into an online argument over this. Yes, God can take anything that is evil and bring about good from it. That does not mean that the original circumstance was not ridiculous.

Reporters who did not do their due diligence and sports commentators trying to make this an ND conspiracy have made the real art of true journalism a joke.

This should have been, from the get go, a story about how one individual, RT, lost his way perhaps because of some tragic event in his past. Instead it became a feeding frenzy for anyone who has issues with ND and Catholicism.

Checkout the comments by Mike Greenberg. My goodness if you don't believe that this has been a comedy of errors from the get go please explain otherwise.

I didn't look back to see if this was already asked because I didn't want to read anything about what was said today since I haven't watch it yet, but I have a question about something that Ronaiah said during yesterday's show. When Dr. Phil asked why he chose the same day as Manti's grandmother dying as the day he "killed off" Lennay, Ronaiah mentioned that he and Manti had an argument earlier that day about Manti possibly "Skype-ing" with other girls. Ronaiah said he was suspicious of this because he had Manti's passwords for his Facebook, Twitter and Skype accounts and something didn't feel right about his Skype account. Did I hear that correctly? Ronaiah had Manti's passwords? If this is correct, how in the world did he get them and if he got them without Manti's knowledge, could there be something legally that Manti could do to go after him? Perhaps I completely misunderstood what he said, but it sure sounded like he had Manti's passwords. Did anyone else notice this or am I hearing things? Thanks!!

Excellent, excellent post and unfortunately, I have to spread around some reps before I give you another. Today's interview changed my entire perspective on the situation and what happened to Te'o is minor compared to what Ronaiah dealt with growing up. This doesn't excuse his actions but it sure gives a good reason as to why this all happened.

If any ND students can out the former ND player badmouthing TEO that would be great. That player is a real jack *** and someone I now dont even consider an ND player past or present, just hopped on the jealous media bandwagon.

For all those that wondered, Dr Phil submitted three tests of RT's voice, regular interview - no match, behind the screen - 1/3 over 60%. But then he let Tuiasosopo go back to his own home with a Dr. Phil producer, and switched phones on him so he could not use an electronic voice modifier and that tape yielded one 100% match, and two others above 80% so it was him. Conclusively. It was spooky.

I totally forgot about this until this morning. A local (in SW Michigan) radio host this past week stated he believed that Te'o would be lucky to still be drafted in the lower 2nd round, and was looking more like a 3rd rounder. Again, he's a Michigan radio host, a HUGE Michigan homer. He also made a prediction at the start of last season that U of M would go undefeated and mop the floor with Bama. I rarely listen to him, only to catch a little Tigers news. But I just had to laugh, and share. And as expected, he hasn't said a word since the story of the U of M AD setting up their players has come out. He **** talked Te'o daily for this situation, but seems to have nothing to say once its reported that 20+ players were trying to start a relationship with a fake online girl set up by the AD.

Beating a dead horse a little bit... but...

Archive » Journalistic standards in reporting of the Te’o hoax: Q&A with Deadspin’s Tommy Craggs » National Sports Journalism Center

Kinda hilarious watching someone press Deadspin for answers on their crappy reporting and they come back with nothing. Nothing but BS, statements of opinion as fact, and curse words rather than coherent responses.

Really wish they had pushed them on:
1. The statement that Tuiasosopo and Te'o "definitely knew each other" based on them being "family" or "family friends"... when that has since been proven to be wrong.
2. The statement that Tuiasosopo may have been Te'o's on field guest at an AWAY GAME at USC... while on the USC sideline wearing USC apparel... which is obviously wrong because:
-You can't get on field passes for an away game as a player.
-Tuiasosopo's dad played for USC and the family is full of USC boosters and that's obviously how he got the tickets.

Two unsupported/inaccurate statements that still remain in their original article.

The media around these parts (Detroit) is still suggesting highly that Teo is gay and that his draft position is going to be determined by his sexual preference. Teams want to know, sadly, because homophobia is still highly accepted in sports.

Jamie Samuelson and Wojo do not count as media. They are so horrible that I can't stand it anymore. **** both of them.

If this situation showed anything, it showed that good journalism is dead, non-existant. Society has gone to s*** and not just with this situation. It's a sad place to live.

Valenti & Foster, Karsh and Anderson and a lot of media. Valenti, he of the infamous ND rant, is still a good radio show most times. I agree with his opinions in most cases, not this case.
