I go with Day and KR on D - Koyack and an OL on O.

DD and Golson are out with past issues IMO.

All considering BK doesn't go with a new squad each week.

Nick Martin will be one if I were to guess. Not sure on the others, maybe KVR on defense.

Russell and Day are just juniors though, would be a turn up for the books if it were them

Lombard - Golson

KR - Day

Brindza

I know the board has talked about this before, but refresh my memory... why Brindza?

Don't get me wrong, I love Brindza, but from a leadership standpoint I want guys that are "field generals". In short, guys that aren't just leaders off of the field and represent our university well, but guys that are on the field a lot and lead us on gameday. In addition, I want captians that lead the young guys with mentorship. You cant do those things if the only time you step on the field is in special teams.

Just my thoughts.

I would go: KR, Golson, Day, Lombard and/or Jaylon.

didn't hurt guys like jason hansen, adam vinateri or phil dawson

to me brindza is a leader, he works his butt off, he's a senior and mentally tough

I guess I never saw any of those guys you listed as a main leader on their teams. Were they good kickers? Yes. Where they leaders on special teams? Sure. But i'm not sure that it makes sense to have guys that only step on the field a handful of times a game be the one that you trust as the leadership braintrust of the team. Shoot... there are a lot of football players that have zero respect for kickers as football players, period.

Like I said, it seems he probably will be a captain, and he wont be the first kicker to be a captain in football. Just seems to me from an effectiveness standpoint, that you would want a positional starter to be a captain over a special teams guy. They can lead not only in the locker room, but on the field. I see captains as having a more significant role than simply showing up for the coin toss and rah rah'ing in the locker room.

Again... not a dig at Brindza. Love that kid.

Trying to think of captians has reminded me of how young this 2014 team is. Next year I expect to have quite a few great options.

If i remember too Justin Yoon remarked when he committed how at ND "you are not just a kicker"
Also with Brindza potentially being the punter, kicker, and kickoff man he's definitely gonna be on the field more than your average specialist.
I'd have to agree it isn't exactly ideal to have to put a "C" on a ST guys jersey but in this instance i think it would be worth it with Kyle.

Wow I'm actually proud of my personal consistency. From that thread (I swear I didn't look):

Forgot about Brindza and some other guys that were mentioned. I'll make my official prediction:

Ishaq
Lombard
Brindza
McDaniel

I would actually think Brindza is a lock.

It makes perfect sense if the guy is, you know, the special teams captain.

Isn't that a normal thing? You have an offensive captain, a defensive captain, and a special teams captain? I know it's not a rule to do it that way but "special teams captain" is definitely a thing.

normal in NFL but not in BK's ND tenure

yeah. weis had a ST captain. i can't remember his name now, his last year, maybe?

my vote for Brindza would be 4 year starter, kicks in all three facets of the game, probably a draft pick, dare i say, a Notre Dame man? Warrants a "C" to me.

I'll take up to 5 bets of 100,000,000 vbucks that Brindza will be a captain. Even money.
