Kerry Neal. Athletic freak.

When my brother saw him in the weight room amongst all the other football players, he was certain he would be playing on Sundays.

Confirmed Montana State University offered. Enoch was just adopted by Joe.

What about Minnesota State? Any interest?

Don't think the coaching staff has offered yet.

Updated ratings on front page. I'm very "meh" on him and the guy from STA right now.

IMO, he doesn't blow you away with anything on his film. Decent athleticism and size, above average block shedding, and average pass rushing ability. He has a good frame to add weight and I think could be a solid rotation guy but I don't think he is our next starting NT.

What don't you like about Smith?

Nothing I really "dislike" just don't think he is a great prospect. Has an average frame with average athleticism for a 3-4 DE in our scheme. Seems to have an average first step so no real pass rushing threat. So it's all good... but nothing that leads me to believe he'll ever be an impact starter.

I think mid to upper level recruits ( players that have potential but require lots of development) it is all about the connection with staff and the recruits level of attraction to ND.

If the staff wants him and Enoch loves ND...he could be a starter someday.

So, you're the same person, right?

Say nothing if I've said too much.

There was some serious talent there so I agree very cool accomplishment. He was also the DL MVP, according to 247

I said it before and I'll say it again, this kid is Bruce Gaston 2.0 - he'll be a solid B1G performer on the DL and be a thorn in ND's side if he doesn't come here.

And Bruce Gaston would not have started for ND thus far in his career. It's early on this cycle. Let's see where some of the elite talent falls before we take a guy with limited upside. He's a solid player, but for a national championship contender I doubt he'd be more than a rotational guy.

I agree with that. Give him a spot. Especially with Hounsell's career up in the air now.

Not many guys will start with a DL of Nix, Tuitt, and KLM. Gaston's not a 5:s: DE/DT, but he would be a great fit as a big swing guy that could take up 2 blockers. I just see Smith in that mold.

That said, Clark, Frazier, and/or Holley are higher on my list. I wouldn't be upset with Smith at all.

And yet Gaston tormented us all game long in South Bend this past year. Gaston was a damn good player for Purdue.

You don't need all elite guys to be an elite team. Ask USC how that's working out. Or ask Urban Meyer how he liked that his last 2 years at FL. There's absolutely nothing wrong with getting glue guys, and diamonds in the rough, and guys that will only end up being 'rotational' guys. I'll take 'solid' players that want to be at ND and mix them with as many elite players as you can find.

The last thing we need is to say no to good players (who the staff apparently like and who are doing well in the camp circuit) to make room for guys who never end up coming anyway (leaving us stuck with under 80 scholarship players like we are wont to do so damn often).

That said, I haven't seen film of him so I don't know how good he is. But if the staff like him and accept his committment, I personally like their track record on judging talent (not perfect by any means and definitely not above reproach) and I'll trust their judgment...
