So, my take away from everything is that ND has all kinds of good players at every single position. This team is gonna roll if Tommy shows up.

Read several places he's learning to throw the fade. Also that he's a bit more mobile.

IMO, if he can throw the fade, and a medium to long ball, he could be in for a very, very, good year. If he can chuck it a ways to guys like Brown, and hit the quick outs, we'll be fine. Really excited to see how well Daniels, Brown, and Hercules do this year.

Carlisle, Atkinson vie for playing time

Notre Dame originally said the injury occurred during "a non-contact drill." Multiple sources told the Tribune, more specifically, that it occurred in the football complex when jawing between Atkinson III and Carlisle turned into a mini-quarrel that begat a bit of physicality that begat a fateful ending.

I had not heard that anywhere. Any truth to it, or is the Chicago Tribune really grasping at straws?

Wow I had not heard that either. That Atkinson answered that he doesnt know whether he is allowed to talk about it when the Trib asked about it makes me think there might be a grain of truth there. Especially shocking because they were friends even before college.

I think there may be more than a grain of salt there, if you remember when he hurt his ankle in the offseason someone... TP? GB? I forget... posted that he was really pissed about how it happened. I think I remember following up and hearing that it was a "really stupid freak accident"... maybe I'm miss-remembering, but it would seem to jive with this story. I doubt the Tribune would print something they hadn't sourced. The credibility and veracity of their sources is usually what's in question, but if they're saying they've got multiple... I buy it.

I think you are right ... now that you mention I remember hearing that stuff too.

Yeah, I think probably ... and even if it was more than just horsing around ...

Friends never fight?

There's that ... even friends can get into a shoving match where somebody falls and accidentally breaks an ankle. That's certainly happened to many of my friends (not the broken ankle but the shoving match).

Ive definitely had some minor scuffles with some of my best friends and even broke up a few. It's no big deal that stuff happens its just unfortunate he was injured if true.

Sure, but it's much less likely considering that George wasn't sure if he was allowed to talk about the situation. Try to read some facts before posting.

I did and I agree that they were probably fighting but that is open to interpretation and I don't think a different opinion warrants a condescending post in this case. Thanks for being you

Why do you even post here? Your posts only come once a week and all we can expect is some @sshole comment from you. Thats the extent of your contribution to the board.

Thanks for this weeks installment...

Damn. I've always been (maybe irrationally) high on him. So Farley/Collinsworth/Shumate... with Redfield and Hardy as depth... and Badger/Turner hanging around. In an emergency, could always have Prosise switch back too.

sucks for Nicky. Seems like a guy that works hard. That said, I feel like you're bound to lose a guy or three in camp. Safety probably one of the areas we can best absorb a loss in.

Admittedly, I wasn't that high on Nicky for the starting role. However, he was a hard hitter and will be missed from a depth and leadership standpoint. Just sucks...feel bad for the guy.

Football perspective, I always thought that shumate would win that battle on his own but Baratti was very good depth and pressure for shumate. Personal thought, I wish Nicky a full and speedy recovery. The team was better when he was healthy.

Nobody from the ND office has confirmed this with II but they are reporting he injured the same shoulder that required shoulder surgery last year. Brian Kelly will speak about it Monday after practice.

Butler and even Kinlaw could cross train at safety also.
