The player high stepping at the end of the video would have been called for a penalty and the ball dead at the spot of the foul. No touchdown.

You think he doesn't know that?

We talkin' 'bout practice yo.

It is possible that we are not seeing Cierre because he cannot wear shoulder pads until his third practice by NCAA rules. He did not practice on day one, so he likely could not wear pads. Just my theory.

This Cierre Wood thing pisses me off, how hard is it to get papers signed?

The wide receiver situation, TJ Jones hasn't impressed me that much and Goodman has never done anything. I want to see Daniels, Brown, Ferguson, Toma, and Neal. I do hope Jones can turn it around this year though.

The cornerback situation seems to be better than expected, I like that.

The rest of team seems as good as advertised

The only highlights I have seen of Goodman so far this fall are him dropping a pass and getting one batted away today. I am sorry, but Goodie does not strike one ounce of fear in a single opponent we play.

PLEASE let Daniels and the freshman step up!!

I want to see some videos of Shembo and Ishaq rushing the Passer tommorow. Really expecting a lot out of those two.

...me too.

If we pretend we didn't see our veteran receivers today (cause for concern all by itself) all would be right in ND land if those two could generate some pressure and take the heat off our secondary...maybe even get us some turnovers.

if either gets lose, and has a clean shot...he's gonna do damage to a QB...

I sure hope they don't get lose against Michigan...that Frail thing...be a shame for the BiG to lose him...

Man, as was said, GAIII = scare ya speed. Theo looks like a force. Eifert Looked good. Dbacks looked ok. Receivers looked uninspired...every one of them look passive....

eh if the ball drops on me...I'll catch it.

We ARE NOT going to approach replacing Floyd's productivity with guys running really good routes and hoping the ball arives in stride...They better get serious, get aggressive, and treat every ball like it'll explode if it hits the turf...the ONLY guy I saw treat it like that was Jamoris...a D-back. I hope they are just starting slow...but that did not look good to me.

This seems like a huge overreaction to me. You're talking about a handful of plays out of dozens and dozens of reps so far.

Now, to sound like a complete hypocrite, was anyone else a little surprised at how Cam McDaniel showed up on that video?

R.I., you hit the spot. Cam looked good. You don't have to be great just give yourself a chance to make a play.

Turn it around? For a young player, Jones has been at least decently productive. He hasn't set the world on fire yet, but he hasn't exactly disappointed.

TJ Jones got open alot and didn't get passed to by Rees. Hopefully that changes with Golson/Hendrix

IMO, TJ will play a supporting role to Eifert, DD, Theo and Cierre and will do so adequately.

With BK's new hybrid position and Floyd's departure the ball should be mostly in the hands of Eifert, Theo and Cierre. Here's to DD, TJ and the super frosh stepping up to change that.

I don't know...maybe...not sure what would be overreacting...

because I don't know what you took away from the clip. I saw some things I didn't like beyond the ball on the turf...like how it got there. I hoped it was due to a slow start.

I swore I took the part out where I called for roadside executions...:) Or did you know I was thinkin it?

To those concerned that our starting WRs looked bad in that video, keep in mind that those "highlights" were not chosen at random. It's no secret that our fanbase is concerned by our lack of experience at CB, and those reps may have been chosen with that in mind.

^ Good point WhiskeyJack, i can buy that.

I seriously think DD will be the go to WR (excluding Eifert). But I have a feeling this WR core will be more balanced. No, we dont have a dominate 1st round WR like Floyd, but that doesnt mean we are weak, we are simply more balanced with multiple weapons scattered around the field. I predict Eifert will be the #1 REC leader and DD will be right behind him at #2.

NYMIKE6 alluded to that too...don't disagree that they picked stuff our Dbacks looked really good on...maybe.

But it was indeed our veteran receivers looking "handled"...and why would they ever look "handled"...ya know the flip side to this line of thought is the dbacks are ok, and our best receivers don't scare anyone...

maybe thats good...folks go to sleep on our WRs and tighten up when facing dbacks...IDK...seems like the benefits would be short-lived.

and FWIW ...yea, I saw stuff in that short window that bugs me. Hope it gets fixed.

Yeah, its pretty interesting how adept some have become at judging performance based on 5 seconds of film. Lol.

The video today was weak sauce.

Clearly should be a starter for breaking up that pass.

Ahhh voices of reason, who would have thought? We just saw a basically 90 second video of plays from the first 2-3 days of camp. I guess from what we can tell, that means our upperclassmen receivers are garbage, they're too passive to get to the ball, and our freshman receivers are dominating.

Give it time. Could it be that those plays were highlights for the defense? We don't really know how well the outside receivers are doing, but I think it's a bit much to start worrying that they won't produce.

Some good points:

I checked. Uniform level is dictated by days practiced, so Jonesman is right about CW being behind.

Lo Wood and Cam McD are both looking very good, much better than expected, per others that have watched them in more detail. In fact they have had incredible summers.

Brown and Ferg are freshman that some say will break the lineup. Golson to Brown is the express train, some say, and not one of Browns catches was shown.

Troy Niklas had a red zone touchdown catch, where no one got in front of him. His hands and his speed looked really good. I don't think anyone wants to be in front of him. I think that is going to be something you see this fall because opponents won't want to.

Troy is like one of those monster Stanford TEs from last year. Dink and dunk works a whole lot bethose with a monster in the flats than a hitch pass to a 180 pounder.

Cam is like Collinsworth in that he has the perfect football attitude. It's 100% all the time. I dont like to dwell on our players' weaknesses if they are low on the depth chart, but I have always thought that the issue with McDaniel was going to be size. He was 1-2 years older than a lot of his classmates and he was struggling to hit 200. He is much better suited for CB, if he is fast enough (he is certainly quick and disciplined).

Every year there is a position that we thought was fine that was not and one we thought was not that is. I'm hoping CB is a huge good surprise. I have been surprised by a lot of teams with supposedly weak secondaries throwing something effective together.

Barring injuries, Two guys that will become central to the offense: TJ and Riddick. I think both have good objective reasons that they were not as productive as they should have been.

I agree with this but I will add that he did EE which makes me personally expect a bit more out of him this season. He is going to be a junior + practice experience wise.

I am sold on DD's potential and long-term prospects, but I don't have a good read on him in the short term. He seems like he has a lot going on mentally and hasn't really cut loose yet, kind of like Ishaq. I could see the early season going either way for him.

In TJs defense he was ignored a lot last yr by Rees staring down Floyd but when it was throw his way he usually made a great catch on the often, over thrown or thrown behind him ball. I think TJ will do fine and be a very important part of the offense this yr.
