Watch his highlights from the recent camps. They're doing LB-RB drills and guys can't even get a hand on him.
He has plenty of shake/wiggle but he doesn't really need it in high school. He's so fast he just hits any opening and presses the gas.
I honestly think he'll be used just like Theo and like we hope Jafar is used this fall. Just most of these guys can't touch Tyree's 55 time.
I agree with this take, but I'd go further. He does not need wiggle at all in high school. One of the reasons he doesn't look even faster is because he breaks away even when guys are taking the right angle and everything is collapsing on him. He breaks open normal plays. And you are right about the camp films, they suggest that there is more to come.
His game film is kind of like watching some one like QN or Stephon Tuitt in high school. You may see glimpses of other great traits, but their strength was so completely dominant the other stuff was masked.
Personally, in this offense, I would rather have break-away speed with slightly-below average RB wiggle (Josh Adams), than excellent wiggle and slightly-below average speed (Riddick).
We always project a player's best moments backwards onto his whole career, but Theo was not an impact RB until his senior year. Like Jonas Gray, most of his early runs (I know he became a WR for a year) were "he was this close" kind of runs that just didn't go very far. As a senior Theo came up big in big situations, and his WR hands were excellent, but I never thought of him as a game changer. Josh was a real handful as soon as he stepped on the field as a freshman, despite the constant criticisms. ND's line kind of chips away until it opens a big gap, and the idea is to have someone who can exploit it.
