I think this one is an even better representation of it. When used, it was almost always a guaranteed 1st down.

Who I was thinking of as well!!

Half the members on this it’s probably don’t even know who he is without looking him up lol. In 99 when probably only Tom Lemming was doing recruiting JJ was either the top recruit in the nation or at worst the top RB recruit. Funny how things come first circle and Notre Dame is getting another big time RB 20 years later from Virginia.

Anyone know if Chip Long ever had this in his offense?

Man, I loved JJ. He was a favorite in our house. Sucked when he had to sit out a season but I loved that he came back and didn't just transfer like most do.

I was such a huge Julius fan, that kick return vs Nebraska and the game against Pitt as a senior. Incredible

Jones missing the '02 season probably cost ND a shot at the very least a BCS bowl game, probably a title bout.

Without Jones, ND's offense was painful to watch that year.

So Chris dominates the opening and wins the fastest man competition, yet drops 27 spots in the new 247 rankings to 63. Got it.

I love it, drop him more and more and more. Drop him to a 3 star.

I wouldn't go back, but I miss the misdirection of the old Kelly offense. That counter and the Rees shovel pass were deadly for a "gotta have it" 3rd and 7.

Imagine that play, but with Dexter Williams, who doesn't have to noticeably downshift to change direction.

BRING BACK THE SPRINT DRAW.

Throw the conspiracy theories out the window....at this point it actually feels intentional...

Absolutely ridiculous...

Does it really matter? He's Irish. Besides, somewhere down the line during a game someone will probably question how the services only had him as a 3 star. Then who looks silly? Hell, make them all 2 stars. Then we'll shock everyone when we win the natty.

Not sure which one posted it but in the reasoning in the national thread they stated size is a concern, lol. Similarly to what Lax pointed out in Baumann's thread, with regards to his drop, that didn't change in the last 2-3 months. He hasn't gotten smaller and he's been doing camps for years now. It's not like they just saw him in-person for the first time. Really bizarre stuff from 247. But, who cares. Barton and Wiltfong can go have a circle jerk with SEC fans. Those guys are terrible.

yeah he's on the smaller side now but once he gets into NDs training program the size problem will fix itself, not a big concern imo.

And the point isn't whether or not it should be a concern, it's the timing of the concern. The timing is after he commits to ND, in their next significant update, it becomes a concern. It wasn't a concern at the other (5?) camps he's done over the last 2 years when he was an uncommitted prospect.

I don't think everyone is bitching because they care, it is just disrespectful to the kid who has worked his ass off and become a legit stud.

Just saw on the updated 247 rankings Tyree is now a composite 5 star at 29 and Jordan Johnson is now at 31.

Rivals updated their top 100 today and Tyree moved from 64 to 40 overall. That might be why.

Have we ever had a 5 star RB and a 5 star WR in one class?
