He did not participate. He had a game the next day and has/had an injured foot.

I was going to say I didn't see him tweet anything about participating in it. And that's better for us. If he really is a freak athlete then other schools might try to poach him if he gets good reviews from 247.

A little bit of his training and highlight tape. No exact dates are listed here, he does look a bit of the thinner side, so that leads me to believe this was during that six month duration where he added an impressive 26 pounds.

By all reports, he takes his workouts and training serious. Level 11 type $#it.

He may arrive as a raw football player come January, but you know he will be in peak physical condition. Not out of the possibility to think he comes in at 6’7” 260 Ibs. Height-Weight-Athletic specimen.

I believe im in the vast minority here and it's way early to make a call. but I was underwhelmed with his club football film. He should have been absolutely dominating that level of talent. Just seemed a tad slow and clunky. Hope I'm way wrong on this but I don't see him being an impact player in the future. Hopefully you will all throw this post back in my face in two or three years...I'd be OK with that. Truly an interesting story though.

ISD - if Elston can get out of SB (doubtful due to weather), he'll be visiting this guy.

His brief senior film reminds me Aaron Lynch.

Aaron Lynch 2.0 IMO. Let's hope he has that kind of ceiling.

Love the pick up.

"He's either JJ Watt or Aaron Lynch and I'll take either."

#Irish1:

Fake News: "Koon is always negative and doesn't like any of our recruits".

There’s potential for him being a 6’7” 250lb 25yr old defensive end on ND’s team. That would be a scary sight to see. I hope he develops and keeps working over his years at the school. His potential is through the roof.

I wonder how is strength and conditioning stack up vs our frosh and sophs.
while i think he's a developmental guy, he's someone i could also see coming out of nowhere to get PT.

Yeah "almost" because the guy is a legit athlete, unlike BYU's players.

I think he gets closer to the 265-270 range if he’s here all 5 years. I’d bet he’s around 250 at the end of his Frosh year. He’s not overly skinny and has a very long frame to easily put some weight on. 25 is near the start of your peak physically in my opinion. He’ll definitely have the grown man strength by then that’s for sure. Excited to see what he can be developed into.

What book? What page?

Our mission at Notre Dame is to graduate all our student athletes and to win a National Championship.

BYU does neither.

Kudos for their mission program but BYU boasts about their 6 and 8 year graduation rate and their grad rate is below 90%. I found 87%. The missions are 1 or 2 years not 4 (to get to 8). Manti went to ND and graduated in less than 4 years and had a 4 year mission at ND.

To win a National Championship?

BYU won only once in 1984 when they went 12-0 beating a 6-5 unranked Michigan in the Holiday Bowl. BYU did not play a ranked team that year. Their WAC opponents were pitiful. BYU was the only WAC team to lose LESS than 4 games that season. Hawaii was runner-up at 7-4. BYU won their opener against Pitt, who was ranked #3 pre-season, but went 3-7-1 for the year. BYU is the only team in college football to win a National Championship playing in a bowl game before New Year's Day.

I think this will go either of 2 ways, but no where in the middle.

1) He'll never pan out, and we'll say "duh". He's from another country, never played real football, speaks a different language, and Notre Dame is tough on anyone, let alone someone with that many cultural hurdles.

2) He becomes a really good, borderline great player, and we say "duh". He's 6'7", 250 LBs, literally more physically mature than his peers, works his tail off, and came in with a chip on his shoulder on top of all of his physical attributes.

I still think he's going to be very good.

I've never met a Deutschlander who didn't speak English. They either learn it in school or from listening to their parents' Scorpions or preferably, KMFDM albums.

Speaking English and being fluent enough to keep up at ND are probably two different things, but I hope you're right that it's a moot issue.

I lived in germany for a year. If he’s like most young kids in Germany these days then he’ll be speaking better English than most ND football players after maybe 6 months on campus and if not already. Two is he’ll be fine academically if he’s been taking even reasonably high level courses in Germany. Their academics are legit! Way more prepped out of high school than Americans. That’s for sure

Kind of like Ade this past year. Pumped to see what Ogundeji can do this fall.

Excited about this kid. Elston has done a great job of finding some under the radar guys who have panned out nicely to give us ridiculous depth of the edges this year.
