Now I gotta root for Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase to burn Kyle Hamilton.

This is bullshit.

I have said that ever since I was a teenager. Unless they are running a 40 padded up in game gear it’s useless. He missed the second half of the season so they also didn’t get to see any game film after he got hurt which I do understand.

It just goes to show that all these people saying he was a top 5 or 10 pick clearly aren’t paying attention to what’s actually going on.

I think saying someone is "a top 5 or 10 pick" in the abstract - at the time a player declares for the draft - is different than analyzing what, say, the team with the #7 pick actually needs. There were mini-runs on OLs and WRs by teams that traded up to get them, is all that happened here. That's hard to predict. Either way Baltimore got a steal.

Right. He was the first safety off the board. When the first safety gets picked is totally dependent on the teams picking, their needs, who trades up.

As much fun as it would be for us to brag about "Kyle Hamilton, top-5/ top-10 pick", that means very little versus the prospect of a long and productive career for him. He's got a much better shot at that starting out in the Ravens' secondary than on most of the perennial bottom-feeders that picked before Baltimore.

They are a bottom-feeder, and have enough needs to fill that picking two defenders would have been poor business...

But if I were the Jets, I would have been tempted to take Hamilton after grabbing Gardner... just lock down an elite secondary in two picks and be done with it.

That they draft poorly surely contributes to their bottom-feeder status. In this case, I'm glad Kyle didn't end up on the Jags, Lions, Jets or Commanders, even though he had to fall a bit in order to avoid them. We've seen the professional careers of too many Irish players get cut short by ending up on incompetently managed teams.

Yes, we probably won't see another one until late 4th round.
Wow. Honestly, Brian Kelly deserved a raise winning that many games with such little talent. Liberty has more drafted. I can see why he got the heck out of Dodge. He was NEVER beating Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State.

The reason ND lacked talent at certain positions is Kelly. With that being said, ND has had more more players getting drafted over the past few years than all but a few schools.

No matter which way you skin the cat, it doesn’t play well for Bayou Brian.

Yes but one player in the first three rounds is just really eye opening. One player. Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia have several from each position group and we are trying to compete with them?

Reminding you we had five go in the top 95 in last year's draft. And another four more to close it out.

We had a roster with a lot of youth last season. A good handful of players that would have been drafted (ie, Foskey, Patterson, Jayson Ademilola) decided to return, and some other seniors like Bauer, Bracy etc. (likely UDFA guys) returned.

We won't have many players drafted this year because we really only have 7 or 8 guys that made themselves eligible for it...

Yeah. Why are we reading anything into one year's draft performance? Last year was a bumper crop. This year not so much. Next year will probably have a bunch. Whatever.
Big picture, Notre Dame has more alums in the NFL right now (just about all of whom played under Kelly) than all but four other schools.

Sure. Three things.

Brian Kelly went 11-1 wit one draft pick.

It shows the huge difference in talent between ND and the bid dogs of CFB.

You can understand why Kelly wanted to leave for a school that had, as he put it, great facilities, players who want to be great and a school that is committed to greatness. Now was the right time. He isn't getting any younger.

I guess I'm saying I wouldn't make too much out of one year's draft results (or in this case half a draft). It's a single datapoint. Last year Notre Dame had nine players drafted, only Bama and Ohio State had more, with 10. Next year we'll probably have two first-rounders.

I also would question judging college football teams by their draft results. LSU may have "players who want to be great" (whatever that means) and has a few more more current NFL player than Notre Dame, but aside from 2019 we've far outperformed them on the field in recent years. Even beat them twice.

TIL: Players at Notre Dame don’t want to be great, apparently.

I wish you would get the heck out of dodge...at LSU BK still won't beat Bama or Georgia.

What happens if he does? If he beats them once in 5 years it would be a success. Doubt it happens though.

Redskins passed on JOK last year for some crap linebacker out of Kentucky who can't play football and then traded out of picking Hamilton this year (with a desperate need at safety) to draft a questionable WR when they could've just picked Olave or Jameson Williams. They are one of the worst run franchises in sports, top to bottom.
I’m glad they passed on him. Would have pained me to root against him for the next 10 years.
