ESPN.com free article linked below - "The next great QB prospect might just be J.T. Daniels"

The next great QB prospect might just be J.T. Daniels

"Talk persists in the recruiting community that Daniels might rate not only as the best quarterback in his class, but also as the top QB prospect in several years."

Calls his own plays, studies the game, exudes confidence, slays giants, etc. Not committing any time soon to anyone.

Damn. Is this kid really gonna come in behind Phil? I guess it depends on the system that John Harbaugh wants to run.

Assume Wimbush is good:

2017 Wimbush/Book/Davis
2018 Wimbush/Book/Davis/Phil
2019 Book/Davis/Phil/Daniels

I think the ideal depth chart would be what Phil is stepping into: incumbent starter projected to leave your So. year, has to leave your Jr. year.

But, at the same time, if Daniels wants to be the man as a freshman, there shouldn't be any significant starting experience in his way.

I wonder if they burn Phil's redshirt in 2018?
- If you want him to start in 2019, it gives him some experience
- it puts a year (or even two, in-between him and Daniels)
- it makes him less likely to transfer, but its also better for him if he does (since he will have only lost one year of playing time, instead of two)

No offense to Book but I just don't see him ever starting at ND.

me too and i always got the impression he seems kind of ok with that. He's going to serve the role Tommy Rees should have served

Brian Kelly's bitch?

I'm pretty sure that role has been occupied for many, many years

I understand that, but no one ever saw Joe Montana starting. He came in against Purdue as what, number three on the depth chart, promoted due to injury?

So we brought in Tommy Rees to coach the next generation of ...Tommy Rees?

Assume you mean "Davis" (rather than Sebastian), or I am really out of touch with recruiting

Those stats are absolutely dirty. He did that as a sophomore?!?!

I hope we find a way to get him in the blue and gold, he'd give us a number of exciting years.

Freebie from Adam Gorney @Rivals.

JT Daniels is planning a wide-ranging round of visits this offseason that could definitely influence his recruitment.

The standout 2019 quarterback from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei said he still has a lot of interest in Alabama even after Steve Sarkisian left for the Atlanta Falcons. A trip to Tuscaloosa is possible.

Daniels, who threw for 4,849 yards with 67 touchdowns and six interceptions in his sophomore season, also wants to see Florida, Florida State and Miami, swing through the Midwest to see Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame and then go to USC, UCLA, Stanford and Washington.

Daniels’ recruitment remains wide open but Notre Dame and Stanford should remain near the top of his list.

Visiting Michigan on June 17. Will be interesting if he stops by ND while in the neighborhood.

I think the ND/JT affair is already history though I could still see JT taking all 5 OV's and ND being one of them.

Hopefully ND has Hank Bachmeier committed by then and they can shut down '19 early like they did with Phil for '18.

They can then turn to '20 and get in the lead packs for Jack Miller and Drew Pyne, that is if...

RP3 isn't committed already.

He's a GREAT prospect but I'm not sure this was ever a great fit from a fit/style of offense perspective.

The more I see of 2019 QB prospects, the more I realize that are a few that are probably better for Long's offense.

ISD hinted that this probably isn't going to happen

Wow, going out on a limb there ISD! I'll give my prediction: there is a 0.000000% chance he is coming. None. This one is about as hard to predict as the Rosen recruitment.

Yup. And that is not an excuse. Ohio State has won a lot of games without a pro-style passer. College ball is about athletes.
