Would not have signed there. More teams were going to call. Maybe he’s looking at the competition and thinking it’s the best outcome? Doesn’t make any sense.

Washington is where QBs go to dissolve.

That’s a pretty big pay cut from what he was on here
No italics required. I expect he’ll be on the sidelines with a mic in hand interviewing better football players than him before the year is out. He and the cameras seem to have a mutual affection, so someday he might earn something approaching what he took in at ND. But I expect the results will be similarly mediocre.

Honestly I can see Sam’s value as a backup QB in the NFL. He’s shown the ability to be able to perform in multiple systems, he’s got decent mobility and while his arm is going to prevent him from being a front-line starter, he certainly is capable of being a game manager. I could see him hanging around for 5-7 years.

I have no idea how his playing career will pan out but I do know he will be on a coaching staff or in front of a camera for the rest of my life.

I will always appreciate what Sam Hartman did for ND and the QB room last year.

While he had his bad moments, I think if Hartman was coming in this season with the current OC & WR's he would've had a better season and gotten drafted.

I am surprised that Washington signed him especially with drafting Daniels #2. All it takes is 1 team to provide an opportunity. I'll always root for Hartman.

Kind of sad how he was still miles ahead of any QB ND had at the time and still wasnt a top shelf QB. You would think of all the NIL that ND had to throw at him that ND was getting a true baller. Dont get me wrong, I appreciate having him over what ND had in the stables at the time because that would have been a real bad season without him but makes you really scratch your head and wonder just why ND's QB recruiting and more importantly, DEVELOPMENT, has been so utterly piss poor.
The gap between Hartman and JJ McCarthy doesn’t seem that big to me in terms of actual play. JJ is better but not by all that much.

Yeah. I think you put Hartman on a team with good receivers and a competent scheme - what he signed up for when we had Rees at OC and a healthy WR room - and he's fine and probably does improve his draft stock at Notre Dame. Maybe not to the first half of the first round - his arm strength was pretty underwhelming - but he's a totally fine quarterback.

I'd say, at the very least, him being with the commanders will be beneficial for Sam working with an OC like Kingsbury. I can see him parlaying the experience into being a future QB coach/OC once his playing days are wrapped up

That is a pretty solid UDFA deal. Lots of no names rolling around in the background of the NFL that pop up after a few years to get a shot. That's all any non-first round QB can really ask for.

He played in a shitload of games and that will count for something when he gets to camp.

Aussie Punter doesn't stand a chance.

Could replace both Batman & Iron Man tomorrow.

Could play Doc Holliday in the upcoming Tombstone remake. (That should get a response from our resident huckleberry)

THEY'RE MAKING A TOMBSTONE REMAKE?!?!??!!? Ridiculous.

Also, I see what you did there.

Did he get cut by Washington?
I was wondering the same thing. I'm curious if they can use their draft picks on current NFL players in the event they get cut? Very risky, ,but could be a nice reward if he doesn't make the Manders.

Does anyone know the backstory of II’s and Sampson’s borderline negative comments about Hartman’s time at ND? They never go into detail, but they make it seem that the people/staff at ND were not impressed post OSU.

Was he perfect? No, but he was screwed over with the promotion of Parker and the handling of the receiver situation.
