Well, I guess this helps with the pain of AJ.

For some reason he reminds me so much of Alex Anzalone

without the case of bitchitus

Welcome Bo!

Yes!! The first white guy linebacker comparison.

I'm saying the next description will be; coach's son or high motor.

It might be the white linebacker thing but if you watch their films they are honesty pretty damn similar and from the same area

I'm a fan of the pickup and hope he continues to develop. Welcome to the team.

I love the pickup. He's a really good prospect already, great program kid, and this allows us a lot of flexibility with LB recruiting in the 2018 class.

Congrats Bo!

So early that it's not that relevant but it's fun for now. ND's 2018 class is now ranked #2 on 247.

Agreed, now taking Ovie makes sense because he needs time and this gives us flexibility to go after the biggest fish now. Also to think these guys get to play HS football for two more years and grow and develop hot damn. Plus BVG will be gone so they get to play in a far less complicated defense. Amirite?

Great news on an otherwise dismal night.

Future is bright.

Let's hold this class together.

I watched both Bo's tape and David Adam's tape just to see how similar/different their play was. As of right now, I think David's tackling ability is better but Bo has better pass rushing ability. After watching Bo's tape for a second time, I'm more pumped about his commitment (I was already excited). He plays with such viciousness and tenacity and you can see that when he can get his shoulder into the QB/RB.

We should be set at MIKE for a very long time with Morgan, Adams, and Bauer. More importantly, we have top PA linebacker in 2017 and 2018 so I hope Penn St fans are pissed about that lol.

Scout article said he had potential to be a first round pick in baseball.....

....and he just gave that up to be MLB at the University of Notre Dame.

Be happy folks.

Barton Simmons 'loves' Irish pickup of Bauer

Notre Dame landed one of the nation's top linebackers in the class of 2018 on Wednesday when Erie (Pa.) Cathedral four-star linebacker Matthew Bauer pledged to the Fighting Irish.

The 6-3, 215-pounder chose Notre Dame over Michigan State, Penn State, Virginia, Iowa State and others.

According to 247Sports national director of recruiting Barton Simmons, this is a huge pickup for the Irish and their No. 2 ranked class in 2018.

"I really think Matthew Bauer is one of the big-time defenders in the 2018 class," said Simmons. "He's got size and he plays with a great energy and temperament. As an inside linebacker, he takes good pursuit angles, accelerates through contact and likes the physical side of the game. I think this is what you want an inside linebacker to look like. I think he plays with the attitude you want out of your Mike backer as well. I love the pickup for Notre Dame."

As a sophomore, Bauer racked up over 100 tackles and 11 tackles for loss on the year.

Per 247Sports, Bauer is the No. 95 overall player in the country, No. 2 inside linebacker in the nation and No. 4 prospect in Pennsylvania from the class of 2018.

Gonna be funny when 247 inevitably drops him in the future for running a 4.9 at camp and how he looks in shorts.

If hes a 4.9 guy, he'll deservedly drop out of everyone's rankings.

Ummm... well... he did already... at the Army combine. He still made 247's All-Combine team. My point is that they're going to magically "discover" the flaw at some future point and drop him, much like they did with a half dozen Notre Dame guys I can name. Funniest has to be Brock Wright who they graded out excellently on film, then he didn't do combines and they got pissy, so they dropped him way down the rankings.... even though literally nothing has changed since when they initially rated him.

Hopefully we never have to see the name "Matthew" ever again. Bo Bauer has the potential to be one of the GOAT white linebacker names.

I hope he's not really a 4.9 guy. I did notice his ratings outweigh his offer list though.

Sorry, that was worded poorly. If he's a 4.9 down the road, like when he's trying to qualify for the Opening... then he'll fall out of the rankings.
