Don't move a dominate force from a place where he's causing havoc.

I gotta believe that Marist Liufau and Osita Ekwona will have something to do with a potential move. If either of those two are making it happen in the weight room, in the film room, and in practice, then position change doesn't need to happen.

Solid D-line and linebacks with JOK and Kyle Hamilton causing mayheim. That can make up for a lot of short comings with secondary (well...all that and Clark Lea gameplanning).

I think they need to find a way to play their three most talented linebackers. If that means moving him, fine... as long as he's equally capable at that position. Two years in a row they've had tremendous success moving the ROVER inside and having that player actually elevate their level of play.

I’m on the fence about the move as I don’t know a whole lot about each position. Drue moved from Rover to LB and improved. Asmar moved from Rover to LB and improved. If there isn’t a “Rover” position in the NFL (I only watch college football) then this could be good for Wu as well. He may be the stud LB we need.

You have a top 5 DC and a year to figure it out at Buck. Rover and MLB are virtually set.

Why fix a great thing - find a way to get a Buck out of Simon/Lamb/#13. Plenty of talent with those 3, figure it out.

If you want to get cute find a way to upgrade White too, but he's playing well enough, just not great.

Keep Rover at Rover.

I just don't think JOKs body is anything like Tranquill or Bilal's. He still looks like a safety, but maybe I'm overrating how important added weight is to playing Buck.

Still:

White
Simon
Lamb
Bauer
JGH
Ekwonu
Bertrand (side note: is he on scholly now? with Assaf and Grunhard getting one, I assume yes?)

There should be plenty to work with there in order to get quality options at Mike and Buck.

Even Kiser and Moala seem to have bodies more suited to sliding inside than JOK. Liufau, who knows, I could see him following a Oghoufo route.

Ultimately I’ll trust whatever Lea decides with him but I think it’s going to be hard for him to be a full time Buck. I could see him doing some work at Buck in the Spring/Fall camp so he can work into the Nickel package next season. He’ll be too important to come off the field so learning to play inside will keep him on the field more.

Not to go full Koon here but I did have JOK leading the Irish in tackles this year.

Tied White at 80 Total but had 6 more solo's PLUS 13.5 TFL & 5.5 Sks. Great stats.

I'm not to concerned where he plays next year. Lea's playing poker with more/better cards than anyone at the table plus the eraser that is D Hamilton to make any mistakes by the front 7 disappear.

If Ade is as good when playing twice as many snaps, D Hayes stays healthy and Foskey takes the next (expected) step, they will be even better next year.

ESPN has him at 8.5 sacks, Kareem coming in second with 5.5

Along the same line...

"Going through Notre Dame’s defensive personnel under Brian Kelly and assembled a list of players who had more than Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah’s 13.5 TFLs in a season.

Sheldon Day: 15.5 in 2015.

That’s the list."

What kind of handicap does Jaylon get for being under BVG? +9?

That's exactly what my initial response was; how the hell was Jaylon not tops of this list?

Then I realized it was the BVG handicap. He was too busy chasing plays sideline to sideline making up for the poor scheme, couldn't attach downfield enough from his own position.

He was still a beast at ND. His lateral quickness is a thing of beauty.

We will be really spoiled this year to have JOK and Hamilton on the same defense, plus Elston's endless rotation of fresh and hungry dlineman. Cornerback may have questions but their jobs should be made much easier by the supporting cast.

I feel like the depth at corner is unproven and potentially thin, but I think the trio of McCloud, Bracy and Crawford is a very solid core.

DLine is stacked with numbers and talent, LB has some great talent and experience along with number, CB might not have tons of talent but they’ve got potentially 9 scholarship guys to throw at the position which is good. Safety might be short on numbers but they’ve got the top end talent in spades. So all in all, the defense looks really good for the 2020 season.

Could not agree more on all fronts. Though the CB talent/depth is unproven, they have plenty of guys who have an opportunity to separate themselves as next man in and contribute in Dime packages as well. I'm not worried at all about the defense, led by the Dline and Wu.

It's kinda funny to me that Wu was the "prototypical rover" prospect in Elko & Lea's first (though partial) class. And now that he already had his breakout year in 2019, 2020 was gonna be the season where he balled out and gets huge national attention. But now that senior All American season will be most likely gone. Talk about blue balls

One of the most athletic plays i've ever seen a ND LB make. Up there with some of Jaylon's ints.
