Lol. You’re a clown manI love and hate book. Saved us when Wimbush ran into his shortcomings. Kept a much more gifted player like Phil off the field.

Obvious bait is obviousI love and hate book. Saved us when Wimbush ran into his shortcomings. Kept a much more gifted player like Phil off the field.
You don't actually believe thatThis is the worst take I’ve seen on this board possibly ever
Did you not watch his weak ass get nuked by every good team he ever played? Kid did what he could. Beat teams ND was supposed to. He never did anything to write home about.Lol. You’re a clown man
Dude, Phil's on his 3rd team and his 6th year. He got benched at BC of all places, and he wasn't good enough to get drafted either.I love and hate book. Saved us when Wimbush ran into his shortcomings. Kept a much more gifted player like Phil off the field.
Talk about two opposites. Just listening to this interview is a good reminder of how mature Book was/is and how much he loves Notre Dame, a true Notre Dame man.I love and hate book. Saved us when Wimbush ran into his shortcomings. Kept a much more gifted player like Phil off the field.
Book wouldn't have started in Fargo, ND. I won't pretend ND deserves less than an FCS school at the QB position.Dude, Phil's on his 3rd team and his 6th year. He got benched at BC of all places, and he wasn't good enough to get drafted either.
Easton Stick is the Chargers backup and Trey Lance went 3rd overall in the draft. I'm sorry that Ian isn't better than them. I really am. It is actually upsetting that my podunk FCS school has consistently been better at the QB position than Notre Dame.

Ian Book should not have been anywhere near the field at Notre Dame. This is the correct take. Dude wouldn't have played in Fargo.Keep moving the goal posts to get away from the worst take of all time this board has seen in 19 years as a message board.

Sorry some of you don't have standards
Except he was far better at playing quarterback than the highly-rated guys on either side of him in the pipeline, even if they had superior natural talent. This is a silly conversation.Ian Book should not have been anywhere near the field at Notre Dame. This is the correct take. Dude wouldn't have played in Fargo.

Phil is more gifted though. Whether he would have worked out or not is perfectly debatable. To me, Book got to play on high level teams that anyone remotely competent could have done well on. Phil (mostly his own fault) never got that opportunity. It's one thing to argue that ND should have a better QB than Book... that's reasonable.
But your initial take was that he was keeping a more gifted QB off the field. Phil would have been on the field had he been good enough. Everyone knows his physical traits are great. But he's put plenty of tape together that shows why Tommy and Co. stuck with Book. Book was more gifted in the ways that actually matter for a high-level QB.

Book belonged at a G5 school. ND deserves better.
Worth noting: Phil had the opportunity. He could’ve stuck around. Would’ve been the presumptive starting QB in 2021 and ‘22 (and I guess potentially even this year?). I will agree with you that Phil was more gifted but that doesn't equate to being the best product to put on the field. That guy was a head case.Phil is more gifted though. I would lose my mind too if Ian Book was keeping me off the fieldI will agree with you that Phil was more gifted but that doesn't equate to being the best product to put on the field. That guy was a head case.
Or throwing a game winning touchdown pass immediately after dislocating his finger, or even showing half the stones that Drew Pyne did last year.Because he's soft and his feelings were hurt.
That's not a guy that's going to succeed playing QB at Notre Dame, regardless of his physical tools lol.
I can't imagine Philly J. playing a second half after pissing blood.

Book got the most out of his ability. He has nothing to apologize for about his ND career.Book is great for what we had. About average passer (terrible deep ball thrower), above average runner, above average smarts. Don’t blame him for being the best QB in the room.
