Good news!!!

So the sky is not falling?

Eh, Kelly doesn't necessarily have the greatest track record when it comes to injuries, and the amount of time players may miss. We'll obviously know more once the team practices today. ND always shows clips or pictures on their social media accounts. None of them had BW taking reps, but that was to be expected. We'll see what happens today.

I think some of y'all are overestimating how tough it will be to go, on the road, to unc. Fans don't support the football team in Chapel Hill and fans don't attend games. I'll be surprised if coaches can't yell out to whichever QB they have playing in the middle of the game. The noise level in the stadium will probably be like an 8th grade game.

I bet the Irish bring in a crowd. They sold 59,000 tickets for Duke. ND hasn't been to Chapel Hill since '08 and this is ND's only visit to the eastcoast between Boston and Miami this year. Weather is supposed to be low 80's and sunny. With ND being good and a rare visitor, I bet it will be a good atmosphere, not overly hostile but not a morgue either.

ND can beat UNC, with Book at QB, by running the ball down their throats and throwing a few play action passes. UNC can't put 11 guys in the box and 8 won't cut it. They are too depleted and will be worn down by the 3rd quarter from a downhill running attack.

If Book plays and they stack 8 in the box all game, ND goes 200+/200+ for an easy cover.

Probably have to burn Avery Davis’s redshirt if Wimbush doesn’t go, or at the very least get him ready. He could be playing after the first offensive play god forbid

If they do, he's at SMU in January. MVG will play before him.

Why does everyone assume BW is out this weekend? BK said the boot was a precaution. BW in a boot doesn't mean he's out. Sounds like he has a bruised foot and BK just wants to give it a few days to rest. Given the limited amount of info given, I think he plays Saturday.

Lou posted an update over at Rivals today from a press conference Kelly had today.

Basically it's a grade 1 strain, and he really doesn't need the crutches. Wimbush just thinks the boot alone is awkward, so he's using the crutches. It should be off today though, and he's cleared to run.

I'll just leave this here.

I honesty still wouldn't start him even if he is cleared. If he's hurt, he's hurt and we don't need him, as it looks from here. Start Book, dress BW, and watch how the game goes.

I hope BK and his coaches are approaching the game like BW is very important to ND and that UNC is a real threat to win the game.

Overconfidence from the coaching staff = disaster.

UNC is a power 5 opponent that has some athletes and a pretty good offensive coach. They are incredibly beat up right now, and have had bad results so far. But they are still a threat to put a competitive game together. The staff and team aren't overlooking UNC.

That said, UNC is totally overmatched in physicality and depth. ND can win this game without Wimbush.

This decision is all about the nature of the injury. If the injury is a type that could be aggravated, rest him. With the bye coming up he should be 100% by USC. If his injury is not a risk for aggravation, then play him because he needs the work, then let him recover over the bye.

UNC at home can pull off the upset... this is also a huge potential swing game for ND... imagine a loss and look at the rest of the schedule. I'm sure the coaches know they can not take anything for granted here.

BW did not practice today and, IMO, he will not be playing this weekend. He is out of the boot but is still limping a fair amount.

I'd start BW. Tape up the foot, hand off or throw from pocket. No need to run, throw from pocket against a terrible unc D. Game speed w some throwing success could be huge for BW. If he needs to come out, that's cool. But at least to your team, you started. Don't let Book start and light it up, bc he could and prob would against unc. Don't let the QB controversy begin.

I was at the ND-North Carolina game in Chapel Hill in 2008, and the Tar Heel fans did turn out and were quite loud.

UNC was 4-1 and ranked going into that matchup with ND, coming off a blowout win against a ranked UConn squad.

UNC is currently 1-4 with their only win coming against Old Dominion, and having lost to arch-rival Duke and getting blasted a week prior against Georgia Tech.
