I guess we'll just have agree to disagree here, Koon and thats okay. I know that pointing out pass pro can seem a little knit picky, but it sure as heck is something scouts looks at. At the end of the day, Dex is still bringing a new dimension to the running game and it was refreshing to see on Saturday.
That's fine, and I don't mean to get hung up on your "a few seconds" point, I don't think we realize how quickly plays actually are.
He could do better. But 1:1 vs. edge rusher where you have the outside to force them is tough enough for a RB. Up the middle where the LB is the one with momentum and can go either side? That's an impossible spot for a RB and I truly believe all you can do is square up and take the hit to slow them down.
If the RB in that situation braces up to really put their foot in the ground and hold them up, they risk "guessing wrong" because they have to hedge to one side or the other, and that's a 50/50 on good block vs. complete wiff.
Yeah it didn't look pretty and he looks like he got his @ss kicked, and I'm sure it made for funny GIFs around the internet, but he did what he had to do.
And for all you kids on here, this is how you respectfully end a disagreement where you are both on opposite sides and not inching any closer to an agreement after strongly stating your opposing opinion. Respectfully end the conversation and shake hands.
Arrowryan and I are men, we're 40. Come after us.
We liked beer. We still like beer.

As long as Koon doesn't go third person on us, I'm ok.
I hate to bring this up again, but on the II podcast O'Malley stated that Dex was terrible in pass pro against Stanford. He also said that Jones is the best pass pro back they have and is the only one that can absorb a body.
I would agree. The times I have watched Armstrong, he just tries to throw a shoulder into the pass rusher.

Which isn't surprising, in my opinion. Jafar is still really early in the development stage at running back.
A lot of posters here seem to want to run Dex into the ground. We didn't spread the load out much last year and the wear got to our star running back, and Josh Adams was a much more durable back than Dex has shown to be so far.
97 yds!!
I believe that's the 2nd longest rush in ND history.
Picked up that first blitz pretty well.
He sucks so bad at blitz pickup, he should be on the bench all the time!
I'll admit, I'm more on the dex-train then even koon. I'm no scout, but he just has "it", much more than even Adams, who rocked it out last year. He has 330+ yds and 4 tds this year, in only 2 games. Both against ranked teams. If he'd been available the first 4 games, he'd probably be in the Heisman running. (20% kidding)
