Still not a complete back to you guys?

Do you see how much he's used in the passing game? Do you see what happens literally every game when you feed him?

You're all only a couple years behind me on this one. Not bad actually.

Honestly, who are you arguing with? Or is this another one of your "I was right" posts? People (and the coaches) thought Dex needed to work on other parts of his game to be a "complete back". He has obviously done that and everyone agrees he is playing great. Let it go.

I believe it's the part where he turned his hand down that the article is referencing. But yes he's done the peace sign a variety of times this year and it has been seen in NFL games and other CFB games as well

Well, I'm an idiot. I just looked at the photo instead of looking at the gif. Well I'm glad the refs weren't stupid like the big 12 refs flagging the horns down.

Yeah he’s done it on all his big TD runs. The flipping it down was a nice USC-specific touch though.

Was just looking at his hudl page yesterday comparing him to a current 2020 target.
Looking at his measurements still floor me. IIRC he was (or at least during the camp), ranked with the second highest SPARQ score in the nation.

Damn I'm gonna miss him. We have no one even close to his measurables on the roster.
I want to see him jump a Clemson Tiger and show off that vertical...

Positions: RB
Height & Weight: 6'0" 195lbs
40 Yard Dash: 4.4
Shuttle: 3.9
Vertical: 45.5
Bench: 315
100 Meter Dash: 10.9
400 Meter Dash: 50.7

gonna miss Dex. Congrats to him and I hope he kills it at the next level.

We are going to miss his explosiveness next season.

I honestly think Dex can have the best NFL career of any running back in the last decade.

Theo, Adams and Prosise are the only ones I can think of? Atkinson, kind of

Yep, I'd say Riddick is the best of the bunch the past 10 years. He has had some solid games in Detroit, especially when filling in for injuries.

Williams is the most explosive of the bunch for sure. He will have a role on an NFL roster. Not sure if his pass blocking has improved enough to be an every down back, but we shall see. It's definitely gotten better, though.

Go back two decades and we've had more success: Julius Jones and Ryan Grant had very solid careers, and Darius Walker hung around for 4 or 5 years b/t Houston and Denver.

Prosise hasn’t been healthy since early in 2015 at ND. Was there ever questions of his toughness? I heard Prister alluding to a RB not exactly “all in” when they played tOSU in Fiesta Bowl. Regardless, he was a fun back to watch from the Music City Bowl through 3/4 of 2015.

Hold up, we don't actually believe those numbers are accurate do we? Dexter Williams has a 45.5 vert? He has a 3.9 shuttle? For perspective, if Dex put those numbers up at last years combine, he'd tie for the 2nd fastest 40. He'd absolutely crush everyone in the Vert. And, he'd have the fastest shuttle (also by a sizeable margin). Basically he'd be the most athletic RB in the 2018 draft and have made Saquon Barkley look silly. Lol, not happening.

Also, the way Nike Sparq tests vertical is the most asinine thing I've ever seen. There is a reason neither the NBA or NFL use it at their combines.

That’s actually funny you say that. I’ve never heard that before but it makes complete sense. What do they do? Put bouncy mats down for the players to jump from? Tight bearings in the “hit-sticks”?

I have no idea what they do but seems pretty obvious they aren't very accurate. Especially the vert. It looks like it just judges hangtime. Who knows.

Ryan Grant put up back to back 1200 yard regular seasons with the Packers in 2008 and 2009. He played for 7 seasons, which is a decent career for most backs. He tends to get forgotten about because he split time with Julius Jones while he was here, but Ryan was a very good back in his own right. Jones was the flashier guy (Much like Dexter) and so he got the publicity. Grant was a pretty complete back though, and a tough runner. He finished his NFL career with 4,148 yards during the regular season and 27 TDs which was less yards than Jones in his career but more scores.

If we're going by stats for the last 10 years, he's been probably the most productive ND back with Theo closely behind him.

I think that Tony Alford is a good guy. I may be mistaken, and correct me if I am wrong, but I don't know that he has really said anything bad about ND on the recruiting trail, outside of come to OSU. When he left, half the people on this board were calling for BK's head and he had a chance to work with Urban on a big stage. Hard to really blame him. If we had an opening that he could fill, I would want him back.

Alford left to join Urban because he wanted to be an HC and wasn't getting those offers working for BK in his current role. He thought it would help move his career forward, and BK wasn't going to be able to promote him to anything past recruiting coordinator.

I'll say this... I know a lot of people with relationships with Alford. Goes back to when he was RC and you can put 2-and-2 together. He's an awesome guy. Don't hold working for Meyer against him... you think working for Purple Face Kelly is hard? Try working for a literal sociopath with the moral compass of Jeffrey Dahmer.
