Hold up, we don't actually believe those numbers are accurate do we? Dexter Williams has a 45.5 vert? He has a 3.9 shuttle? For perspective, if Dex put those numbers up at last years combine, he'd tie for the 2nd fastest 40. He'd absolutely crush everyone in the Vert. And, he'd have the fastest shuttle (also by a sizeable margin). Basically he'd be the most athletic RB in the 2018 draft and have made Saquon Barkley look silly. Lol, not happening.

Also, the way Nike Sparq tests vertical is the most asinine thing I've ever seen. There is a reason neither the NBA or NFL use it at their combines.

LOL.... wut.
1) I'm not saying Sparq translates exactly to combine measurements
2) I'm saying Dex is clearly the most athletic RB by far on our team. And you can be critical of sparq vs combine, but that's not what I'm comparing. I'm comparing sparq vs sparq.

On the vert, the combine still uses flag measurement. Spark uses mats that auto time jump duration (hang time). There was/is talk about the combine moving to the mat, or doing both. They aren't the same, but both have value. I'm no expert, but I think we'd all agree that hang time (mat), especially for WRs and DBs is important. Is it as important as total high point, IDK? The fact that it's electronic at least would drive consistency.

Regarding Saquon - he actually improved on his Nike Sparq results except for the 20 shuttle. (sparq listed first, combine in parens)
40 - 4.63 (4.4)
Vert - 38 (41)
Shut - 4.06 (4.24)

If we're looking purely at sparq vs sparq (Saquon/Dex). These are non-hudl numbers for Dex (found the regional sparq).
40 - 4.63 / 4.55
Vert - 38 / 44.5
Shut - 4.06 / 4.01

Also, I was joking about Alford as OC.

Clearly, Reesua would save us again.

Was just looking at his hudl page yesterday comparing him to a current 2020 target.
Looking at his measurements still floor me. IIRC he was (or at least during the camp), ranked with the second highest SPARQ score in the nation.

Damn I'm gonna miss him. We have no one even close to his measurables on the roster.
I want to see him jump a Clemson Tiger and show off that vertical...

So once again, you make statements about Sparq scores and then reality sets in. Your entire basis for athleticism was the Sparq scores, lol.

He does not run a 3.9 shuttle. He certainly doesn’t jump a 45.5 vert. The relevancy is....... your entire basis for saying “we don’t have any even close to those measureables.” is not even remotely accurate. Because you’re using information that isn’t even close to accurate. We’ve done this before and I’ll do it again. I’ll bet you 1k that Dex doesn’t do that at the combine? You game?

Let’s use combine numbers. I’ll give you 4.42 on the 40. 42’ on the vert and 4.0 on the shuttle. You get all those numbers that are worse than his Sparq scores. I’ll bet 1k he doesn’t beat them?

What's your problem with sparq. It's just another set of measurements. Are you questioning their accuracy of laser timed laser timed 40s, electronic mat measured verts? Or do you just not mat vs flag? Sparq is not an end all be all, but it's funny how you summarily dismiss metrics that are the most used grading and comparing college athletes. Or is it just your definition of "athletic"

Dexter passes the eye test in terms of athleticism, it's not just sparq scores from 2014. Are you saying Dex's sparqs are BS and Saquon's were accurate? Dex had the second best sparq in the nation coming out of the regional. So that was just BS... lol. Do you think there's just a ton of disparity between regional groups. Fine, but how about all the FL backs (there were a ton of good ones in 2014) that were at the 2014 regional. Or is it just the vert (which is really not a true vert) that you're hung up on?

Forget the sparqs, what RB is more athletic on this ND team that will put up better all around numbers at the combine? Or what other non-RB is going to put up all around numbers? Sure some are faster, but are they going to be better all around or in all measurements.

Again, I said I'm not comparing sparq vs combine. And why would I bet that his 40 is still the same or better? And why would I bet a flag measurement will be the same as a hang time measurement?

So what is a LL approved metric for athleticism? Is it just the LL eye test, or the NFL combine?

he ran a laser timed 4.55 at the opening per what I posted, so why would I take 4.42?
the vert tests are measured differently, so why would I bet that.
his opening shuttle was 4.09, so why would i take 4.0.

this post doesn't even make sense based on the numbers i pulled from the opening results. and why would i bet he's improved those numbers after 4 years and putting on 20+ lbs. are you saying he should have Saquon Barkley type improvement? lol

This has went down the same as the last time. Again, you made a post using those numbers as your basis for stating how athletic he was. Using those numbers to say he was the most athletic RB on the team. Yet we ALL know those aren’t even remotely accurate. It’s common sense and quite frankly I don’t want to call ya out on this but are we really going to pass those off as real? I hope not.

Also, straight from your post says 40: 4.4. Your post say a 3.9 shuttle. I think there is some confusion on your end of this. Post 1543 if you need a reminder.

the original was I assume self reported and/or from other contests (hudl), the second from the opening.

So honest Questions:
are you now only arguing the first?
or are you arguing the second (sparq) as well?
If you're arguing the sparq, specifically why?
If you're not arguing the sparq, do those numbers not say "athletic"

Keep in mind DW ran track I think through his 10th grade year, which he had very good times for a soph.

My original point is that he's the most athletic we have. I think most would agree he's the most athletic RB we have? No?

He very well might be but it’s like me saying Michael Jordan is the best basketball player ever, he averaged 75 pts./game. It doesn’t leave a lot of room for debate when the numbers are just made up.

So you avoid the questions, which eliminate a chance for any conversation of substance.

Again, are you arguing the sparq results? Are those just made up?

Well the conversation started with a ridiculous assumption.

Hey, if you truly believe that Dex runs a 3.9 shuttle and has 45.5 vert, fair enough. I have magic beans to sell you. This has been fun.

Who knows about the hudl numbers, and really who cares. What I believe is he's crazy athletic and by far the best RB we have currently. Since you won't answer the question about sparq, I'll take that as you don't disagree with them. So....

Dex had the 2nd best sparq numbers in the nation coming out of regionals. He was one of the rare 95+ rated RBs for ND. And if you don't like the sparq, the recruiting pros rated him 3 composite spots ahead of Saquon Barkley. I going to guess all that means he's pretty athletic.

I think Dex finished with 995yds rushing this season. Not bad for missing 4 games, but 1000 would have been nice. I would think he will get drafted at least.

I think he will go in the first three rounds. He's special and we're gonna miss him big time.

I see Dex getting picked up in the 2nd or 3rd round. I like his energy and passion he has for this game. I wish we had another year with him, he will be missed next year.

Well, apparently he has a 3.9 shuttle, 4.4 40, and 45 inch vertical so with that being true he’s probably going to be a 1st rd pick ;)

Dexter Williams, RB, Notre Dame:
Williams was a beneficiary of the North O-line's dominant performance. He can stick his foot in the ground and go. He showed good agility, fluidity in his hips, vision and the ability to process what he sees quickly and burst when he finds a crease. He can catch the ball, too, although he wasn't asked to do so at Notre Dame very much. He has good size (5-foot-11, 215) and speed, and he doesn't have a lot of tread off the tires (257 carries in four years at ND). I won't be surprised if he goes on Day 2 (Rounds 2-3). -- Lance Zierlein

Never seen a different measurement for each hand.

Check out MLB pitchers. Very common with them. IIRC the great LA Dodger Sandy Koufax's left hands fingers were over an inch longer than his right hand fingers.

O/U on 40 I'd say 4.5.

That's what I was going to say. Looks like he's down a few pounds like Miles.

I could see him anywhere between 4.48 and 4.54. My homer guess/gut is 4.49.

VJ, I'm guessing he'll be in the 38-40 range.
