First off you're wrong, Wicker is a 4 star guy. Also, who on here would have though Andrew Trumbetti would have been starting this year? Day could leave after this year you never know there is always surprises. I don't think him leaving would be a surprise considering he will get a pretty good draft grade.

He is coming back and there is no way he starts over Daniel Cage or Mokuwah if that. Also you really think he would start over Jarron Jones or Sheldon Day? Do you even watch the games?

Ishaq's poor academic judgment gave Trumbetti the opportunity to take the starting job. Yes, Trumbetti has been impressive this year, but he wouldn't be starting if Ishaq was here (not right away anyway).

No.....no I'm not, and, as someone already pointed out, if Williams had not had his academic snafu, he'd have been starting. Yes, I've watched his tape, and it's good, but he still wouldn't start ahead of Day and Jones.

And last time I checked, stars don't mean a damned thing when it comes to starting college football......Wicker could be a 9*, doesn't mean he's going to come in and start day one.....

This is an unreal conversation and wrong on so many levels. First, of all Wicker is one heck of a football player and a 3 tech prospect but he certainly isn't playing over Day. We don't have to worry about him playing over Cage or Jones because its a different position, he isn't a NT. Also, Trumbetti isn't playing in place of Ishaq Williams, Rochelle is. Trumbetti is simply better or comparable to Romeo Okwara. Make no mistake about it Wicker is talented but you'd have to be insane to think he plays over Sheldon Day. Lastly, Sheldon is doing himself some favors this year with his play but he is not leaving early for the draft and I'll be sooooooooo much Vbucks on that.

Scout (Biggins): Wicker locks in two more visit dates

No defensive lineman in the state has had a bigger year than Joseph Wicker. After making the move from defensive end to tackle, Wicker has been a monster and impossible to block even with a double team. He has 55 tackles, 25 for loss and 18 sacks, huge numbers for an interior lineman.

On the recruiting front, Wicker visited Texas Tech two weeks ago and will head to Arizona State this coming weekend.

"Texas Tech was great, there's nothing like football in Texas," Wicker said. "Everyone is so passionate there and football is like a religion. I really liked it there and the atmosphere and the general vibe I got was really cool. They played Texas and even though they lost, the fans were great and the atmosphere was amazing. Everyone knows everyone and I had a really nice time."

Wicker will stay closer to home for his next two visits.

"I'm going to Arizona State this weekend and then UCLA the following weekend," Wicker said. "We play Friday night and I'll leave right after it's over and head to ASU. They have a nice team and I like the coaches a lot. They have been recruiting me hard for a long time so I'm excited to get out there and check things out.

"With UCLA, I know it's close to home but I still wanted to take an official visit there since they're one of my top schools. I won't be at the game this weekend against USC since I'll be at ASU but the Stanford game will be good too. It's great to have that local option and I like the coaches and I know a lot of guys over there. I like their defense and how I would fit in so it should be a fun trip."

Wicker said visit No. 4 will be to Notre Dame and he's still figuring out his last trip.

"I'm not sure when Notre Dame will be but probably in December," Wicker said. "My last visit will be to Miami or Oklahoma. I have time because I don't plan on announcing anywhere until Signing Day. Me and some of my teammates are planning to wait it out and do it together. So I'll take all my visits and then have some time to sit back and figure out where the best place for me is."

I doubt ND gets an OV here. He visited OU last weekend (3rd OV) and no scheduled Arizona this weekend. That leaves ND, UCLA or Miami for the last one. UCLA is his leader and will probably try and talk him into an OV instead of unofficial (assuming).

Just watched Wicker's interview on Foxsports LA. What a well spoken kid. The definition of an RKG.

ND really dropped the ball on him. It was widely known that he was very open to ND early in the process and wanted to leave the LA area for college. He led LB Poly in tackles with 138. 138 tackles from your DT on a team that plays big time teams and that is loaded with talent, Biggie Marshall sorta talent. He wasn't a top priority obviously but if you love Sheldon Day, you have to love Joe Wicker. He played an equal or better schedule as what Day played at Warren Central and had Nintendo numbers.

It was comical looking back over this thread to see people thinking that he could start over Day on one end and then others who think Mokuwah is better. From what I've seen, Joseph Wicker starts the second Sheldon Day leaves. Would have been a great year to redshirt him in '15 too.

I went to a local game every Friday this year. Joe Wicker was as impressive as anyone I saw not named Aliz'e Jones. When you see Poly play you'd expect Iman Marshall to dominate every play but the other team doesn't throw at him and he never gets a chance to tackle anyone because Joe Wicker is dominating the line of scrimmage.

I hope Matt LeFleur's replacement is a California guy. ND leaves too much on the table out here. I would have cleaned up in LA/IE/OC/SD with a navy blazer and a rented Maserati from Enterprise.

Anyways, Joe...

Good luck at Fork U.

Having Elliot recruit California instead of Denbrock was one of the more questionable moves this year. Denbrock was a pretty darn good fit for California recruiting.

I agree with everything you said accept this. We should have definitely pushed harder for Wicker and I think he is much better that what his early ratings suggested. However, I think Bonner and Hayes will already have a fierce battle at the 3 Tech, Joseph would definitely have made it even more interesting but I'm not sure he beats out two guys that would have been in the system for 2 full seasons. He'd have 1 year but that second year is where a lot of kids really hit their stride unless they are EE's and they have that extra 6ish months.

Anything is possible... but Wicker isn't a guy learning that position. He is that guy right now, not a converted DE or a DT playing against a weak NY schedule. He's been playing juco level games for the past 2 years and putting up huge numbers.

Joe Wicker is the type of guy that becomes the next Will Sutton, Aaron McDonald or a healthy Sheldon Day.

Lucky, aren't you out here in Cali? Did you see Poly play this year? It was really impressive to say the least.

*** Not only is he better than his early ratings but a 4 star / 957 is too low. He is a 5 star guy by production and performance all day long. They don't want to give him 5 stars because he is 6-2, 280. Not every DT goes to college looking like Butch Wilfork. See Will Sutton, Aaron McDonald and Sheldon Day once again.

No, Portland Oregon. So, I don't have quite the perspective that you do but I have followed him pretty closely as I really thought he was a difference maker at DT, that we had a shot at. I do think he's a difference maker, like you said, I just think Bonner and Hayes will be surprisingly good. With all that said the big picture is we should have went after him harder.

Let me be clear, my comments are not to slight Bonner, Hayes or any current ND defensive lineman. Stacking talent is the name of the game but I do think Joe Wicker is gonna be all world. To watch him dominate Centennial and SJB like he did... both Top 20 national programs made me a believer and as ND fans we have plenty of experience with guys his size at DT with the 3 All American caliber players I mentioned in Sutton, McDonald and Sheldon Day.

Wicker was borderline academically with his grades.

ND was on him, but there is only so much you can do when you don't know if that player is a long shot and has questions academically.

Interesting. You'd never know it by listening to him. Still, ND did offer... like they did McKinney. I wonder if he ever qualified? I know someone who recruited him I'll see if I can find out.

You can be in the top of your class, but if you get a bad test score, it can ruin a recruitment.

Been there. I had to retake my SAT's for a couple of Ivy League teams in my day.

I say this on all the Poly kids, but it is TOUGH to get a kid to qualify academically for ND from LB Poly. It's a really poor academic school, unless you are in their PACE program, which is like an accelerated magnet school inside of Poly. And few big-time athletes are in that school.
